Trash-talking Tuesday

Or really, any kind of talk. What's shakin'?

I am working from home this morning before DH and I have to go to a funeral. And of course, this is the day our server is crapping out. So I'm sifting through email in an attempt to find worthy tasks to complete.

Meanwhile, DS saw that I wasn't dressed and threw a colossal fit about why he had to get ready for school when I was still in pjs. It was one of those moments that I could see myself using the "because I said so" line.

I think DS and I are heading to the mall today. There's a free kids show at 10 and we can walk around and split a Famous Amos cookie. Probably stop by ikea after because it is across the street and I have a couple returns. That's about as exciting as my day's gonna get:)

I made a return at Ikea yesterday, @MississippiCatfish‌ while in Philly because there's not one in Lancaster. It took 1/2 hour to get called up! I felt like I was in the DMV. ;) Then I used all my self control to leave. :) I'm on term break and don't see clients in order to catch up on paperwork, prep for new term. Apparently, students have been told I'm in today for them. Ugh. I won't be able to turn them away. :/
I've never made a return, but I'm anticipating hassle.  The registers are always such a cluster just to check out!

    Good look at work today:/

That's ambitious for being 40 weeks pregnant and wrangling a toddler! Maybe all that walking around will get things moving!
One of  my favorite stories was when I was PG with Jack and it was the end of the school year. I was paranoid about going in to labor at school and traumatizing the 4th graders, so I took off a few days before my due date (at the time I think I had 85 sick days and used 8 up for ML before summer break. No biggie). Anyways, of course he was late and I was soooooo bored that I cleaned & organized everything in 2 days and then was staring at the walls. Typical 1st pregnancy. So I went shopping every day-one place a day, just to walk around and break up my boredom. Target(more thick pads for the bag!) the mall(sure, a pretzel and a cruise through Motherhood!) and Ulta. I was stocking up on nail polish at Ulta because giving myself a mani & pedi would definitely take up a bunch of time.

The college/high school-aged girl at the checkout looked familiar, and we figured out that she was a neighbor of my aunt, uncle and cousin and I had baby-sat her and her sister years ago. She asked when I was due and I was 40w1d at that point, so I answered without missing a beat, "yesterday."  The look of horror on her face was priceless. And she got all nervous and was looking around for help like my water had just broken. It was so funny. Anyways, I ended up doing my owns nails and toes, which was a feat in itself, and still didn't go into labor until the following evening.
I had the same thing! DH and I went out to dinner that Friday (14th) I was due the 11th so 3 days overdue. A woman near us struck up a conversation about the baby. What are you having, when are you due? Etc. I said I was due Tuesday and it's now Friday. She was just baffled as to how I was out in public. Then I saw a huge group of girls I knew and 1/2 of them were in bewilderment as to why I had not had the baby. Drink castor oil, go down a bumpy road etc. I wasn't about to do any of them. I felt great actually. 2am contractions started and I had B at 3:30pm that day. It was hilarious to see the looks about being overdue.

;Apparently he was really shocked.  there's also a picture of him on out staff homepage wearing a Princess Jasmine costume with no pants underneath it for Relay for Life.  I wish I could crop his head out and show you guys.  It's totally disturbing.

You should have no issue (beyond the road work) if you go early. We did the same yesterday and I waited less than two minutes.

The first day of swimming lessons was yesterday. Aria was less than impressed. Then we went to Les Schwab hoping to get 2 new tires and come back for the other 2 after we close on our house in 2 weeks. Apparently that's impossible because my tires are a weird size. How closely will they look at that huge expense? I'm so paranoid about something going wrong at this point. It's not like tires are frivolous spending though.

Okay, so the buyer and I were friends in HS, but I don't think I have seen him once since.

He's now engaged to a girl that was a few years younger than us.  His older brother also got engaged a month or so after, so they had a joint engagement party.

Girl-buyer stated that she wanted to set a date for this summer (party was in the fall).  This guy's dad says "No way.  My younger son can't get married before my older son.", despite getting engaged before him.

Girl's dad says "Who the eff are you to tell my daughter when she can get married?"

Guy's dad says to meet him outside so that he can kick his ass, and was subsequently asked to leave his son's engagement party.

...I wish I was making this up.  This guy is a huge asshole.

Plant a potato get a potato as the old saying goes.

    What a douche.

  • Ya know what's awkward? Hearing the words vaginal cream and sex on the TV at work. Yeah that's awkward.

  • I think I'm going to lose my ever-loving mind DD has now been throwing a 90minute fit about breakfast. She keeps telling me she's hungry and asking for breakfast, but when I try to put her in her chair major melt down restarts.

I feel terrible that I have two days left alone with her and I can't stand her attitude/behavior. I just want to do fun stuff with her before her little world gets turned upside down, but she's driving me NUTS.

  • It's not just you, IV. There is definitely a snarky tone. I like the point that Ginsburg made about the fact that an iud costs about what a minimum wage worker makes in a month working 40 hours a week. People don't think these things through.

I may or may not have been obsessively thinking about you lately and wondering how you're doing.

oh thank you! <3 some days are easier than others, as I'm sure you know. I'm at a different point than he is. I'm ready to discuss visitation and splitting up furniture. He hasn't found a place to live yet,so he isn't ready. I am submitting job applications all over the place, trying to figure out child care and such. It's hard. Eta: words are hard too

  • We get paid the last day of every month so I'm all screwed up on meal planning since that was yesterday and I'm grocery shopping today. It's also supposed to be 97 degrees today so I'm trying to figure out meals where I don't actually have to turn anything on. I'm having a harder time than I should with this.

I'm struggling putting the air conditioners on. It's 80 in our house right now. The frugal me is like "save money!" But damn it's hot.

Our AC's have been on since April. It went from 30 to 90+ overnight.
That sounds like my own personal hell.

Today it's 84 and humid, tomorrow it's supposed to be 68.  Mother Nature has been having a hissy fit for the last few weeks.  I'm over it.  Last night the storms we had were so bad that trees and concrete were uprooted in our neighborhood, telephone poles blew over & 115K homes were without power.  It was totally wacky.  I've never seen anything like it.

  • This is TL;DR. Some of you may remember a few weeks ago, a local pool company lost some piping off of his truck and it caused damage to my car. I took the car into the shop yesterday, and Enterprise was supposed to be there at 7:45 to pick me up. Well, no one was there, so my DH took me to the branch to pick up the car. I get a Ford Focus hatchback (I drive a 2014 Altima) - which I said, okay whatever this will work. I get halfway to work and the low tire pressure light came on. I pull off at my exit because it started sounding funny at that point. Yep, flat tire. I call DH to come get me, meanwhile calling the roadside assistance number. She is asking me all these questions - including what my e-mail address is before asking "ma'am are you in a safe location". Anyways... we go back and forth and I tell her I will not be driving this car with a spare, as I live 30 miles one way from work all interstate so I have to travel faster than 50mph. Not to mention the "oil change required" light is on. She calls local branches, finds one near me and said they have a car waiting. I get to the branch... "I'm sorry ma'am, we don't have anything at the moment". I get LIVID. I have graduation in two hours, and I have the graduation certificates in my hand. I told him I had to have something or someone there would have to take me to work. He gives me a Camaro since that is the only thing they have. Cool, whatever. Then I have to go BACK AGAIN in the afternoon to get something that will hold my car seat.

Am I silly for being mad? The initial person that looked the car over should have seen the oil change message when he started the car to get the mileage. He was rushing me out of there and I am just not happy at all.

  • I have a sink full of dishes, baskets full of laundry and a newborn that has yet to learn what a proper nap is (and a toddler that likes to forget what it is).

    Whine over.

Wine. Is it an acceptable time to break open the bottle of Pinot I bought a week ago?
