One thing you think many people are surprised to learn about you?
Jennifer Lawrence! I love her. She's on my "freebie" list for celebs. She's also on DH's. We adore her together.
Black Beauty is my favorite book. It's really simple but I read it whenever I'm upset and I have it almost memorized.
Favorite etiquette rule... Don't be a dick? I've never stopped to consider my favorite rule. I do love the etiquettehell website.
Favorite grammar rule... Another hard one. Hmmm. I love the English language and all it's complexities as a whole. I think I'd say parallelism/list agreement.
I'm always impressed by the ability to focus. I can't stay focused to save my life.
Many people are surprised to learn I raised guide dogs while living in the college dorms. Dogs living in dorms seems to shock people!
Ha! Thanks! My parents always tried to teach us to use common sense and think for ourselves and they really pushed education. Remembering crap once I learn it is easy for me. Focusing enough to learn it is HARD.
I loved hiking in Dominica. It basically consisted of hiking along (or in) a river until you found a waterfall to swim in. I also loved being able to pick fruit off trees and not having to pack food.
My favorite caching experience was probably climbing a gate in Chicago. I was alone and at a busy park entrance and could see the cache but because of muggles it took me twenty minutes to grab it and another twenty to replace it.
Although, almost any moment of "this is dumb! Why do I do this?! This isn't fun. HOLY SHIT THERE IT IS! I LOVE THIS!" is amazing.
RE: Lottery question... and how would you spend the money?
Lotto! I'd want a lump sum.
We'd pay off DH's student loans and the cars, buy a house with cash, pay off our siblings student loans, and set up college funds for our kids and for our nieces and nephews. Then we'd invest and enjoy.
How did you meet your husband? How did he propose?
We met when he did an overnight at our college and we became friends once he attended. He was a year behind me and we didn't start dating until ten days before I graduated.
He proposed to me at my work (a barn at the time). I tackled him and shoved the ring on and kissed him before he could get the words out. Then chased off the chickens who came running over to see if we had food.
@JordyInIndy surprised me. We argued early on and I didn't like her at first (I don't remember why we argued but I think it was my fault). Now I think she's amazing.
I can't think of anyone I wish I knew better. I've made an effort to get to know everyone who I wanted to become closer to.
What's something in your area of expertise (job, degree, hobby, etc.) that you feel people don't know or misunderstand?
Something I was debating earlier... Working horses (carriage horse/police horse/etc) aren't being abused simply because they work. Having a job isn't bad. There's a big debate with the NYC carriage horses about how they should be running free in a meadow somewhere. It's dumb. Every horse I know was healthier and happier with a job and many would stand at the gate of that field wanting to come into the nice cool barn rather than "run free".
I like different breeds for different things. For service dogs, you can't beat a lab. They just want to make you happy and tend to have a good work ethic and the endurance to last all day.
Farm dogs, almost anything herding (though I am partial to Australian cattle dogs). I've never herded with them but I like an animal with the common sense to get out of the way of a bolting horse or cow and labs just don't have that.
For pets, my answer varies depending on the family.
Tell us about your BFF and what you love about her/him?
She's sweet and loving and we can pick up the phone and talk for hours after not talking for weeks. She gets DH's job and has gone through many of the same things I have. She's just one of the kindest people I know.
Have you always been interested in animals? How did get your start working with them?
Do you like rollercoasters? If so, what's your favorite amusement park?
What's your go to outfit?
I've always loved animals. I started working with them early in high school so that I could pay for riding lessons. I also shadowed at a vet for experience and started rescue in the middle of high school.
I love roller coasters. My favorite amusement park is Great Escape in lake George, NY. It isn't fancy but it's the one I went to many times each summer growing up so it's special to me.
If f14 were to adopt a dog, which one would it be? :-)
With all these babies? Something patient as hell and with a high pain tolerance. A lab or a pit with a moderate energy level, about two years old, and who has a solid training background.

I was not expecting a pit in your response. Very interesting.

Patient, kind, playful, easily trained, high pain tolerance... Just great family dogs.
What would you consider your best accomplishment thus far?
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Maintaining a good marriage through med school and the first year of residency. I know that's partly DH's accomplishment but that shit is hard at times and while it won't win us any ribbons, I am proud of how hard we've worked to stay close.
In ten years I'd love to be in a job I enjoy wherever DH ends up practicing when he's done with all this. I really don't have clear cut long term goals besides being with my family.
I know (I think?) you are currently a SAHM but what was your prior job?
Where did you grow up? Have you moved around much?
What do you think of Rottweilers?
The first question I'll answer generally. There aren't many companies who do what I did so that'd make it easy to identify me. I wrote scripts for simulated role plays for training systems. Before that I managed a stable.
I grew up in upstate NY.
I didn't move around as a kid, but DH and I have had four major moves (interstate or country) and two minor ones since we married five and a half years ago.
Edit: Rotties are awesome! They need a bunch of exercise and need more of a job than most owners can provide. They also tend to be "too patient" and their owners let the kids abuse them till the dog snaps.
If you could go back in time what would you tell 13 year old Rondack?
To calm down about following the rules and relax a bit... But I wouldn't want to change a thing about my life. I've had some hard shit but it's all made me who I am. Perhaps to skip the southern comfort shot at the alpha sig party that one night. Puking is no fun.
Favorite memory... All the times we've come together to support each other. When someone was having a hard time and we came together. I also loved the goats in cars thread.
My favorite GBCB was the one who gave me all the flags when I tried to help her delete her account.
What does your DH do to remind you why you married him?
What is the most annoying thing he does?
My DH can make me laugh incredibly easily. He doesn't really have to do anything big, he's just there every day, talking to me and making me laugh and being a great dad.
The most annoying thing he does is fall asleep within 0.03 seconds of his head hitting the pillow. We will be having a conversation and mid sentence Zzzzzzzzzz.
My usuals: favorite childhood memory and least favorite?
Favorite memory: The times I went camping with my family in the Adirondacks. I can't pick a specific memory. I loved riding in the boat and hiking and biking.
Least favorite memory: Deciding to euthanize my childhood dog, Becky. It was the right choice but it was so heartbreaking. She was a special dog.
I have made friends on the bump and so I hang around to talk to them. I also have learned a LOT from the bump and want to continue to do so. I like the laughter and support and tears the bump has brought me over the years.
My favorite board is parenting. There are ladies on there I've known/been following since before DS was born.
If you had a totally free afternoon, what would you do?
What do you never leave home without?
If you could change one thing about the house you live in, what would it be?
Do you prefer to watch the news or read the news?
I'd go horseback riding. If I could have a totally free afternoon that was also magic, I would have an afternoon riding my horse. He's been gone almost two years now.
I never leave home without my phone, wallet, and a baby carrier.
I'd improve the yard. Make it a bit larger and fully fenced, add in a patio with shade, and a swing set. It'd also actually be all grass and not have sandy patches.

Many people are surprised to learn I raised guide dogs while living in the college dorms. Dogs living in dorms seems to shock people! Peanut butter!
Vanilla with rainbow sprinkles.
An old dodge pickup with the curved fenders. Ha! Thanks! My parents always tried to teach us to use common sense and think for ourselves and they really pushed education. Remembering crap once I learn it is easy for me. Focusing enough to learn it is HARD.
Best thing about me: I'll do anything to help my friends.
Worst: my inability to focus.
A little boy in Baltimore picked a bunch of flowers and was handing them out to people walking down the sidewalk. Lotto! I'd want a lump sum.
We'd pay off DH's student loans and the cars, buy a house with cash, pay off our siblings student loans, and set up college funds for our kids and for our nieces and nephews. Then we'd invest and enjoy.

Dream vacation?

Jeans and a tshirt! I'd rather listen to the radio or a book on tape than an album. I like to change the station a lot and couldn't stick with one album!
I want to drive all the way across the country and pick up caches in every state.
@car seat can be my road trip buddy! She takes great photos and I think DS and her DD could entertain each other.
I love gryphons. Or knarls!
I didn't date much before DH but I made out with a LOT of people. Especially random people in bars.
In ten years I'd love to be in a job I enjoy wherever DH ends up practicing when he's done with all this. I really don't have clear cut long term goals besides being with my family. I don't even own nail polish.
Bikini!
I hope they gain my love for the outdoors but not my inability to focus.
I like my eyes and my boobs and DH's eyes and... Well, you get the idea. ;-) Brownies!
Rogue
Splash pad!

My favorite GBCB was the one who gave me all the flags when I tried to help her delete her account. I don't really have a favorite quote.
My favorite song is "it's raining men". I have lots of good memories to that song!
Favorite house would be a big old farm house with a wrap around porch and modern large windows.
The most annoying thing he does is fall asleep within 0.03 seconds of his head hitting the pillow. We will be having a conversation and mid sentence Zzzzzzzzzz. Showers! With DH of course.
Already did the dream house!
Our first dance after our wedding was "god bless the broken road". Cliche, I know. Favorite memory:
The times I went camping with my family in the Adirondacks. I can't pick a specific memory. I loved riding in the boat and hiking and biking.
Least favorite memory:
Deciding to euthanize my childhood dog, Becky. It was the right choice but it was so heartbreaking. She was a special dog.

My favorite board is parenting. There are ladies on there I've known/been following since before DS was born. Lately I'm watching "I wanna marry Harry".
I eat a lot of stove top popcorn and coke. Especially if there is rum in the coke.
What do you never leave home without?

I like to read the news.
If money wasn't an object, what would your dream job be?
Favourite jolly rancher flavor?
What do you feed your pets?
What baby carrier is your favourite?
Any trips/vacations planned in the near future?
