Wow, what an idiot! There will be good and bad in any situation. Citing a few cases where things went bad doesn't prove that all GC/S situations will turn out poorly.

Having a baby is ALWAYS about wants/needs/"what can I get" whether you conceive with or without ART/TPR. Most people have a baby because they "want" a baby. This is why surrogacy and other ART is taboo, because people make it out to be this awful thing to do.
I'm so tired of hearing that only the rich can afford surrogacy and all surrogates are illiterate, uneducated, poor, helpless, women who are being exploited and couldn't afford to feed their own babies without surrogacy compensation. Most surrogates that work instead of being SAHM's make quite a bit more at their regular job than they would make doing surrogacy.
This woman has no idea what the hell she's talking about. She's never been in the room when an IP meets their baby face to face for the first time, hears that first heartbeat on the doppler, sees their baby on the U/S, is told by the clinic or her surrogate that she's expecting. I wasn't mad before reading it, but I'm getting pretty pissed off now.
IMO this is worse than "why don't you just adopt, there are so many kids out there that need homes", to which my answer is "why didn't you".
I'm not saying that all surrogacy is good, there have been plenty of journeys that I see from the beginning and just think "this is going to end horribly", but usually if you're HONEST and go through the proper procedures and have a VERY detailed contract, things can work out beautifully.
I delivered a beautiful baby boy for a wonderful couple 13.5 months ago, a pregnancy would've been fatal for his mother, and when I was pregnant with him, she ended up with thyroid cancer, since she wasn't pg she was able to be treated quickly without risking his safety.
The couple I'm currently matched with, the mother would be bedridden and could possibly be paralyzed if she became pregnant (plus she has to have a hysterectomy right after her ER).
If you're not IN it, "you" should keep your mouth shut because you don't know what you're talking about (I'd maybe listen to someone that couldn't carry their baby and then talk down on surrogacy).
