So we're going to my dh's work party tomorrow, and the main activity is boating on either a ski boat or a pontoon boat. I'm thinking LO and I will be landlubbers this year. But... Is it okay to take a baby (LO is 4 months) on a boat? Does it depend on the type of boat? Teach me, F14!

Re: Babies and boats
@Codypup I really really really want to go boating too.
@RondackHiker wearing a life jacket myself is so smart. I wish I thought of that.. Thank you..... I feel kind of irresponsible now.
My DS1 was on a pontoon boat around 8 months with an infant life jacket as well. The pontoon ride was much more calm and he seemed to like it.
So I guess my opinion would be as long as your LO has on a proper life jacket, protected from the sun, you are comfortable with the driver (and s/he's not drinking) and type of boat, I say enjoy a boat ride or two.

Don't mind her expression. She loved it.
That's why there are life vests. Boats tip and sink and you could fall... You both need a vest.
I always wore a life vest anyway but I will definitely do so with my children there. One, I want to set an example. Two I don't want to be struggling to swim and tend to them. I'm an excellent swimmer but an injury or exhaustion could cause me to struggle.
I hear of boating accidents with both large and small boats every year. Falling in is far from the only danger.
