I looked through this thread this morning and I do not recognize most names.
For the girls that are posting your info on this SS, why??? If you are not participating on the board, why post your pregnancy info???

Are we even using the SS anymore?? The purpose of it is for labor buddies, right? Nobody is going to buddy up with a stranger they've never talked too!!

I'm super confused as to why one would lurk, post about themselves on a pregnancy SS and that's it.

For real though.

I was trying to figure out a way to narrow down the spreadsheet so it only had the regulars on it. @DoubleUp8‌ has done the majority of the work on it recently... I agree, it's very cluttered with rando-lurkers. I think we should definitely discuss what to do with it, if anything. I'm open to whatever.

Maybe unsticky the TOU and the teams thread. Most of the women STILL posting on the team thread I have never heard of before. We can make a new one at the end of July. There certainly is not over 400 of us on here anymore.

Also, for labor buddies, we can pick our own buddies and anyone that doesn't have one say by the end of August, if they want one, can have one randomly picked. We can start a new sticky and the already formed labor buddies can post on it and anyone wanting a labor buddy can put their name there. No randoms or perma-lurkers allowed. Nobody wants to be teamed with someone who doesn't participate. If we do this in August, then it will give people time to see if they mesh and get to know each other on an individual basis.

Obviously we can and will have lurkers. No way around that, I guess I don't see the reason to add yourself to a SS when you're not an active participate. For the sake of doing so??? Seems strange to me...

It does! I figure if one posts on the labor buddy board, their name will not be taken into consideration. This doesn't go for the lurkers that do post. I just mean if they have like no post to their name and are not recognizable.

Most of the ladies on this board (not myself, though, and I need to work on that) have all that information in their siggies--due date, team blue/pink/green, twins or not, etc. I'm also not very likely to go and read the teams or spreadsheet posts; I'll just look at everyone's siggies in the posts that I'm actually reading.

It's a person you're in contact with when you go into labor. They then keep the board updated with what is going on.

I don't think I want a labor buddy, is that weird? I mean, maybe I'll have someone tell you all when I'm in labor but I don't think I'm going to want to be updating throughout labor. I'll let you all know when the little one is here.

great idea! i agree the spreadsheet thread is out of control with randoms and lurkers…doesn't make sense.

I don't think that's weird at all! My question on it was, if we want to update is it just easier to post on the board directly rather than text a labor buddy? Not that I'm opposed to it, I just wondered how the whole thing works in practice.

Questions like what? Many of us FTMs have bugged the STMs with questions that pertain to the 3rd tri, after birth, raising multiple kids, products we haven't bought, etc... the moms are really helpful on here. Post away!

Majority is about how to kick start the labor process and things like that. I will post more on threads. I would love to get to know you guys and vice versa.

I've got my labor buddies (haha, I have a few!) on Facebook already and I will just update them there

how you do it is completely up to you. If you're comfortable enough to text, by all means! Do it! Or you could message them here or just post yourself or even just post a birth story after the fact

For some reason the thought of picking a labour buddy stresses me out! It reminds me of waiting to be picked for a team in gym class- what if no one chooses me!? Ack so much social pressure.

How is the Facebook group doing? I didn't join initially because I wasn't super comfortable with the idea, but if the group has lots of regulars then that might be a good option to weed out the lurkers.

I had the same thought, haha! Funny story, I was once picked first for a team in gym class which was very rare since I have terrible eye-hand coordination. The team captain was a girl with Down Syndome and she picked me because I was always nice to her. The gym teacher actually took her aside and said, "Now, make you sure pick the best players first." Ouch!!!!

I don't know anything about the Facebook group! It was started quite awhile ago, I think.

I've Become friends with a few Fb people, and we talk there. Plus the Fb group. I have zero issues with Fb and people friending me etc... My photos are locked down, only a few albums open and no personal info given. I talk about Starbucks and concerts and random shit.

I'm not in the fb group. I just have a few ladies from here on my Facebook. They will probably know when I go into labor but not all the details. They will know when the baby gets here because I'll post it on my main Facebook page. I didn't post anything to do with N's birth on TB until 2 weeks later. I needed time!

Agreed with all you ladies - spreadsheet has lost its purpose and the sex announcement thread has always been a hot mess. I agree that we should un-sticky them both.

To add to that, I'd close the signature help thread from comments, too, since users can see from their existing comments if the changes they are making have worked.

Maybe for Labor Buddies, a good way to figure it out would be to match-up based on ticker changer threads? Pick someone earlier/later from your thread each week?

I think people post on the spreadsheet because they want to feel known and like they belong, and the ss offers that in an easy, low-effort, low-risk way. I consult it sometimes because I'm one of those mobile app bumpers who doesn't see siggies. And I never posted on the as because I didn't want to add one more name to the list for the updaters when it was so overwhelmed with people adding their info.

I am really interested in what the people who do the updating of it want. If they find joy updating it, or any use for it that hasn't been mentioned, then why not leave it. Maybe they would want to highlight/star/indicate in some other ways who regular/actual board participants are. If they don't even like the spreadsheet anymore then they shouldn't feel the need to touch it one more time. So basically, I am for whatever they want.
