I found out the sex early (blood-draw at 10 weeks, results about 10 days later) - I was excited to know early, but there was something about being told over the phone that was very anti-climactic for me. My reaction was "Oh - another boy - thanks." Mostly I was just relieved everything was negative but on one hand I do wish we waited until the AS.
I don't know if it's because it was our first, but with DS there was so much excitement on our way to and from the AS and something about seeing it on ultrasound and finding out. That said, I was deep down inside hoping for a girl (don't get me wrong, so happy to be having a healthy little boy and a brother for my son), and I had the "girl feeling" - was more thinking of girls names, nursery, buying girls things that I do think my mind would have headed in that direction much longer and I would have been disappointed at the AS, and then I would have probably felt major guilt for feeling disappointed. Knowing early I was sort of like "cool, another little boy - hand-me-downs! Time to get to work on his room." It was fun to tell DS he was getting a little brother and hear him refer to my tummy as "little brother" early on.
