Just so upsetting...GA dad left son in hot car (warning)

I read on Fox News Facebook feed this morning that investigators are saying that the GA dad who left his son in the car on the 91 degree day bc he forgot to drop him off at his daycare that morning had previously researched how long it would take an animal to die if left in a hot car. They're also saying that he went out to his car on his lunch break that day. So it's looking like this was very much an intentional act to kill his 22mo son. My heart breaks. That poor child. What about the mother though? I haven't read anything about her reaction to any of this. ? What do you guys think??? ETA- thread title warning.

  • I was telling DH about that story yesterday. It's just horrifying. I used to work child abuse cases but had to stop for my own sanity... I thought I had heard a lot, but he basically baked his poor baby in a car on purpose. It's beyond comprehension.

  • That's really sad. I just can't understand how someone can forget that their child is in the car.

  • Is the state of Arizona it is a crime to leave a child or a pet in the car for any length of time during the summer months.
So yes this guy should be in major trouble. Leaving any child or pet in a car is not safe no matter it is at.

Dafuq??? This was the story(the initial story of him forgetting the child) on my face book feed that prompted me to say that I don't think parents deserve punishment for accidentally  leaving a child in the car. Fuck that shit, this guys deserves punishment. This is sick and heartbreaking
Someone should burn him up in a car. How could anyone even CONSIDER something like that. My heart is broken for his poor mama. He definitely deserves to be punished harshly.

  • I can see not realizing if you went back to the driver seat during lunch because you wouldn't be able to see a child in a rear facing seat from that position, but the google search can't be a coincidence. That and the fact that they stopped for breakfast close to work so he had just put his son back in the seat. It's very sad. I don't even want to think about it.

This exactly. Lock him in a car on a hot day and let him suffer the way that poor child did. I have zero patience for this!!!

  • I have one silly question...why didn't the day care call to ask where he was? Is that not something they should do when a child doesn't show up?
My daycare doesn't call either.  I always try to tell them when the kids are not going to be there.   I don't think that this would be a bad policy to initiate though - it may save some lives in the future.

  • Did anyone else see/read that daycare was AT HIS WORK! He was a home depot web developer. The wife has said that she's not allowed to speak to the media... Personally I believe it was a decision they made together and she just couldn't do it. Mothers break and drown thier kids, drive their minivans into the ocean, etc... my baby is this exact age and the story makes me sick to my stomach. I fully believe this was intentional and I cannot begin to imagine the horror that innocent baby went through. My dh was just remarking how free our son is, all he has to think about is dancing to the next commercial. Heaven has another angel too soon. I hope the full story comes out and these parents are punished to the fullest extent of the law.

  • I don't know all the details on this, so I can't let myself judge the man on whether he killed his son accidentally or on purpose. The only things I've read so far are that he stopped for breakfast with his son, he came back to the car during his lunch break, and he googled how long it would take an animal to die in a hot car. It could be that his son was sleeping the whole time, so he didn't even get his son breakfast. Maybe he went through the drivethru? Or maybe he had an hour commute after stopping for breakfast, and forgot about his son in that time. And if he had totally forgotten about his son, then why would he remember when he went out to his car at lunchtime? About the google search, maybe he wanted to know how long he could leave his dog in the car if he needed to make a quick stop to a convenience store or something like that. It's all circumstantial evidence.
It would be like, say I have a pool and a 7 year old child. I've read a lot of stories about children drowning in pools, so I google how long it takes for a child to drown. (I have actually done research on this, did you know a person can survive longer in cold water, because the body uses less oxygen?) So then while I am in the shower, my 7 year old (who I thought was taking a nap) goes out and accidentally drowns in the pool. Totally an accident.
Or maybe I just don't see how a parent could actually do this to their child on purpose, so I am trying to justify him....Tragic situation any way you look at it.

  • @igotaprettyring‌ the article says he put his child in the car after eating breakfast 0.5 miles from work. It seems to me that for them to say he put his child in the car seat after eating breakfast vs. he just stopped for breakfast they must have him on video tape or a witness to this. There have also been inconsistencies in what he reported. So to add that he googled how long it would take an animal to die on his work computer, it's just really hard for me to believe it was an accident.

Ok, the articles I have read haven't specified that the child was put in the car a half mile from work...that is more condemning. It's just that I read so many articles with crappy reporting, and we just don't know what's true and what's not, so I try to give the benefit of the doubt, especially in a situation like this. It's like all these hoax stories going around these days, like the recent KFC incident...just wait and all the true details will come out/be clarified.

  • This happened very close to where I live so I've been hearing a lot about it. I've eaten where he had breakfast that morning and I drive by where he works all the time. The article I referenced was a CNN article. I also agree with @FamousEa‌ that there is probably even more to this story that we don't know. We only know what was included in the warrant.

  • I'm really having trouble reading about this case and I agreed that people who do this accidentally should not have to face that prison time. And I'm not going to lie anything I have read makes me think this man is guilty. But anyway it just breaks my heart for this poor baby, when it was an accident and even more so if it was on purpose. My son is a bit older but all I could picture was my poor baby suffering and crying through that torture and it litterally breaks me down to tears.

  • What also doesn't make sense to me.... He didn't go to the daycare before leaving the building after work - obviously because he knew his son wasn't there. If he genuinely forgot about his kid, you would think he'd still go get him at DC after work per routine and realize THEN that something was wrong. This guy is just plain sick. Sick.
