Why, restoration hardware???

Did anyone else receive a shrink wrapped package of 8 restoration hardware catalogs that weighs like 15 lbs? I surely hope they think I am a decorator for some reason bc if they are sending this massive package out to all their regular joe customers (esp those like me who haven't ordered anything from them in several years and it was just bedding...) that is a colossal waste of money and paper...
It says on the front they are just sending once a year to help w sustainability but this just seems ridiculous.
Just had to vent on that.

  • Yes!!! I got it too! I ordered one piece of furniture from them 2 years ago. Sending me a stack of catalogues that big does nothing but make my recycling box super heavy.

  • That's a hell of a catalog. I walked into a Restoration Hardware once thinking it was an actual hardware store. It was not.
Well they do sell some hardware, like knobs and stuff :) hehe. I do love their stuff and am actually looking for new bedding from there and would love to get some patio things but I do not need an entire huge catalog of "leather" or " bath" or " lighting". Geez...

I got this maybe a month ago, and right about the same time multiple people were bitching about it on Facebook.  It was truly the stupidest thing!  I actually thought it was a resigned yellow pages at first.
Haha I thought it was an unexpected package when I was driving up to my house and got all excited.
  • I saw it at my IL's house last week and couldn't believe it. Today I noticed they had moved it to their garage. I suspect my MIL feels bad just tossing it out!

Yes, I got it and my mailing label said 21lbs. I threw it immediately in the recycling bin. It gets worse every year. Jackholes.
  • Good idea on giving it to DC to use for projects, I'll ask them today. The only one I'd be interested in right now is outdoor spaces but there isn't one on that. :(
  • I love looking at the catalogs but unfortunately I really can't afford anything from there (besides maybe a bed sheet) so it's a major waste at our house!

I like their bath and lighting stuff but not their furniture so much these days.

They do sell great hardware, its usually at the front of the store
  • I just got my package. WTF? I'm not sure who thought this would be a good idea in sincerity....but maybe they were just trying to get a rise out of people by executing a marketing ploy so seemingly wasteful.

  • Anyone working at RH care to explain? LOL.

  • Has anyone tried calling RH's headquarters number to complain?

I wonder  if everyone or many of the people who received these catalogs complained there as well as on facebook and here it may be more effective.

I remember back in the day (we are talking late 90's)  A&F came out with a "Back to School" catalog that was sent to teenagers (myself included) and inside were a few pages of clothes but it most of it was photos of  drinking and drink recipes and shot concoctions.  I remember a lot of parents were livid over it and got on the phone and called A&F.  Then a few months later the A&F issued an apology letter and sent it to everyone on their mailing lists.

it might be worth making a phone call and complaining.  Just a thought.

I heard that this mailing was targeted to the top 20% of population based on amount charged in the past year.

For those who received the mailing, are you big shoppers?

I got it last week and thought I had been scammed or something! I don't think of myself as a big shopper, and last time I got something at Restoration Hardware was 9 years ago, though I love their stuff! Way too expensive for me.

Nope, pretty sure my last order was 2009 when I was pregnant...however I was recently on their site searching for patio stuff, I wonder if is as signed into my acct unknowingly

Not at all....in fact, I don't believe I've ever actually purchased anything from there. I've done plenty of looking online, but no orders. However, now I have all the freaking variations of product catalogues sitting on my IKEA coffee table waiting for my toddlers to color all over them....lol.

I meant shopping overall, not with them

I had no idea RH is a public firm again.  I held their stock till they went private back in 2008.
Kicking myself for missing out on owning them again.
