I just might punch someone

Seriously... I'm 28 weeks pregnant and if one more person says "oh my god you're going to be huge" or "what a big belly" I'm going to flip out - how big is normal at this point?! I feel like I can't get much bigger - not to mention I'm in a wedding next month.... So psyched to wear a strapless dress - I feel like a planet - all for the best reasons I know .... But what the hell is wrong with people

Yea apparently I look like I'm due in july....and then asked if the Dr told me I was having a big baby wtf and I'm in a wedding on Saturday
  • People are sooo out of line - I'm a teacher so I kind of understand the children saying things.... Like "I didn't know you were pregnant I just thought you were getting really fat " ... But the teacher they said it to feels the need to remind me daily. It's hard enough not being comfortable but people really are stupid and/or just jerks - doesn't help my sister in law who I LOVE. Is three weeks behind me and SO TINY!

And on the flip side, she is probably getting comments about being so small. Comments on size are just crappy and inappropriate all around.
For real. I got the tiny comments all the time with my first pregnancy. Drove me up the wall.
  • People are dicks! I felt the same way with DS that I couldn't possibly get bigger, but you do. Hang in there Momma!
  • Ugh, I am absolutely in the same boat. Just today the cashier at costco asked if I was "getting close." When I told her my due date (sept 4) I thought her eyes might pop out of her head. Yes, I know I still have 2 more months, and yes, I know I'm huge. Thanks for reminding me

Trust me, this is just as annoying. I'm not tiny as I was overweight to begin with, but I'm not showing very big yet. I think people think they're complimenting me by telling me I'm not that big, but I'm 28 weeks... I want to look pregnant at this point (and honestly feel like I do, so it's a bigger whammy when they say I don't). People just need to keep their damn mouths shut one way or the other.

  • I get comments all the time either explicitly or implicitly saying that I'm huge and they can't believe I still have 11 weeks to go, which means I'm going to be the size of a bus. Thanks! Weighing the most I ever have and not being able to see my vag wasn't making me feel big enough. Honestly the only comment that I've heard about my body that doesn't at least mildly piss me off is when people say I look like I've only gained in my belly. Even then, I'm like why do you even feel a need to comment on my body? Pregnancy teaches you how bizarre and annoying people can be!
  • People are just stupid.  I get the tiny/you don't look pregnant yet comments still and they are infuriating.  Uhhhh, not sure what else you would call the bump concentrated in my stomach region besides a baby?? I did not look like this 28 weeks ago, so yeah...yeah I do look pregnant. I do my best to just not let it get to me and smile and nod. Stupid, stupid people.
  • People don't realize it depends on your body type and height. Everyone carries differently too. My new neighbor asked me my due date and then said, "oh my gosh, you're really small aren't you?!" Of course, having a previous baby with IUGR I immediately wondered if I was and then I started worrying! I told my doctor what she said and my doctor said, "nope, you're just tall and when you're taller you usually look small". So anyway, it doesn't mean your baby will be huge or small. But it's still annoying to hear the comments.

  • I'm so sorry anyone has to deal with big mouth jerks anytime, pregnant or not. I had a rough first four months due to severe morning sickness, ended up on the hospital and at week 29 I still can't eat comfortably. I lost a bit over 30 lbs. Needless to say, it was NOT fun and NOT my idea of a diet plan. Anyhow, I was not at an ideal weight before and I'm visibly thinner now (with the exception of my belly). I can't stand the comments of 'you're soooo tiny' 'you look great (they say with bulging eyes)' ...do they really think they are complimenting me!!?? UGH!!! I feel as if I was a fat cow before and I should be thankful I had a rough pregnancy because I finally look nice enough for people to notice me. People just need to not comment on anyone's appearance no matter the situation. So if you start punching people, I'm right there with you :)
  • I'm over "when are you due?" followed by "wow. 11 more weeks, that's a long time." NOT what I need to hear!

  • I've heard my share too and have already decided that the next person who says anything is going to get an earful.

Additionally, the next person who plays the "veteran parent knowitall with unsolicited advice" is going to get an earful too. Actually one did already. My DH gave it to her. He was telling a lady he worked with that he had put together everything but the crib (after SHE asked how the nursery was coming along). She immediately cut him off and said, "You don't need a crib at first - all you need is something for them to sleep in. Trust me - I KNOW." (hard to inflect the snotty-ass tone over the computer...but it was there) He said, "Yeah we have something for him to sleep in - a FUCKING CRIB. But thanks for showing us how enlightened you are on the sleeping habits of a newborn without us giving one shit about it."

I'm sure taht seems over the top to some but we are pretty worn down and tired of random people criticizing every last thing we are doing with the baby and he's not even here yet.

  • I like to mess with people and say things like "What makes you think I'm pregnant?" to transfer the awkward feelings on me to them.  You win every time. Own that bump!

I've been getting 2-3 comments a day lately about 1) how I can't possibly be due in September, and if I am, 2) am I sure I'm not having twins.  This bugs me a little extra because I got the same comments last time (that I couldn't possibly get any bigger), then went into PTL and had a 32-weeker.  I don't think people realize how stressful it is to me to hear so many people telling me I can't possibly make it til September.

I do have a theory, maybe, about belly size though.  Purely based on bullshit LOL.  So my belly does kind of look enormous at this point, as it did with DD, but my OB keeps telling me I'm measuring exactly on track. I wonder if it has to do with torso length?  I have a kind of short torso and I'm not very tall to begin with, so I'm guessing that means everything pushes outward.  Whereas if you're taller/have a longer torso, maybe you have more room for the uterus to expand without pushing forward as far?

This is how my doctor explained it to me yesterday. I didn't add the details to my post. So I'd say your theory is correct!

Im getting the opposite. Im 30 weeks and all I hear is how tiny I am. I am tall and normally very thin. I had a coworker ask me if I was getting adequate nutrition because I looked like I havent gained any weight at all and the baby probably wasnt growing well. HOW RUDE!! Not that it is any of her business but I have gained more than enough weight and the baby is growing right on track for 30 weeks. I think people need to keep their dang opinions to themselves. NO ONE should comment on another persons body especially during pregnancy.

  • I'm measuring 6 WEEKS AHEAD... So needless to say I get these comments all the time. I feel your pain

  • I've had the opposite. I will be 27 weeks on Monday and all I hear from people is "OMG your so small are you sure there is a baby in there!".

At all my OB appointments when they measure my belly, they say I am measuring right on track so I have no clue what people expect.

It does blow my mind the things people think it is okay to say to a pregnant women.

I'm just hoping that we level off a little in the size department! My DH and I went to a CPR class tonight and one woman was due TODAY and another is three weeks away and I fit right in in terms of size! lol And i've got 12 to go! oy.

But yeah...the comments are annoying.  I also get rubbed wrong with "how's baby feeling?" Well let's see...she said she's got a kink in her neck and doesn't like it when I eat candy...I DON'T KNOW! lol  She's great I guess...kicking away! ;)
My mom always asks me how her granddaughter is doing when I talk to her. I get that she's excited bc this is her first grandchild, but it always throws me off. I have no idea what to say except, "Good? She's... still in there."
So glad I'm not the only one who has no idea what to say when people ask me this. I mean, I guess he's good?? He hasn't told me otherwise....?

  • Okay this is only kind of related I guess but I bought maternity underwear and some pants at Motherhood today and the pants I get a large because I have wide hips and larger calves, while the underwear are mediums because I have like... No butt. And the sales lady looked me up and down skeptically and said "are you sure you don't want larges in these?"

Excuse me, betch, but I can pick out my own size of underwear thanks.

I got kind of upset after that... :/

Obviously this is my first time ever having bought underwear considering everything they sell says "buy at your pre-pregnancy size." She must have assumed I've been going commando all this time ;)

  • I went to kmart to try to get a beach cover up and asked the girl if they had a maternity section..... She looked at me with a smirk and said " do you mean the big girl section " I clarified and said "no like pregnant person section" she then called her coworker over and asked her .... "Do we have a big girl section" I nearly lost it.
