I'm not a fan. I used to love Avery for a boy and I'm totally bitter about it "going to the girls". I don't think it sounds feminine or pretty in the slightest.
My husband is all about it, but I just don't like it because I know people with the last name Avery. We had such a hard time picking a girl name the 1st time around. It will be even harder if this one's a girl, too.

There have been several posts on this name. This thread may help !
Thanks for the thread. I wasn't sure before, but now I can definitely tell DH no! I don't want a common name like that. I personally haven't run into any Avery's, but it sounds like it's very common now.
I do not understand the appeal of this name for either girls or boys. I always hear "aviary" which makes me think of birds. Once I think of birds I think "bird brain." That's not something I'd want associated with my child.
So I greatly dislike this name, despite the fact that it seems to be trendy/popular for girls.
Love the name, but find it to be too common lately, with both boys and girls. I work in a daycare and it has just become the new thing just like 'Ava'.
