I'm very upset. we met with the doctor to talk about ginny's flatness on the left side of her head. they took all sorts of 3D and high rez pictures and measurements in order to evaluate the severity. at this point we are seeing changes in her left ear as well as her left eye. she was fitted for a helmet for plagiocephaly.
most likely this condition started in-utero. she has some muscle issues in her neck -- hence the constant facing left. we are also doing physical therapy.
I'm just so sad for her. most likely she will wear the helmet for at least 2 months and 23 hours a day. the doctor is anxious to start treatment straight away as she is growing very quickly.
it's always something isn't it? my poor little thing.
Re: back from cranial doctor. sad news.
I'm sorry. it stinks, but 2 months isn't to awfully bad.
There is a regular on married life whose DC wore a helmet a few years ago, very similar situation. I can't recall her s/n, but, if you have questions she would be a good place to look for help.

Aw, I'm so sorry. That's tough. Poor Ginny.
Maybe one good thing (if anything could be good) is that at least she won't remember wearing the helmet. It'll probably be harder on you than it is on her.
Oh no. Hopefully the PT and the helmet will be able to fix the issues. I'm sorry you all are going through this. ((hugs))
Poor little Ginny and poor mommy too. It is always something - it's not fair
i'm so sorry! i hope the helmet works quickly for her!
I also wanted to mention that i have a friend who is a chiropractor that specializes in babies and children. she noticed from pictures that Sarah always faced in one direction so she's been doing adjustments on her since she was born. it's nothing like an adult adjustment--she only uses 2 fingers. it might be worth looking into to see if it might help
Oh, Roaring! This brought tears to my eyes when I read it! I know how scared you must be for little Ginny. But the great thing is you're starting treatment soon, she has two terrific parents who'll move mountains for her, and she's absolutely gorgeous and she'll be even moreso after everything's been done. I'm just so glad you got to see someone quickly who can take care of the issue.
Best of luck to you guys! I know she'll do great! Thinking of you!

not to minimize things at all... but plag is a VERY correctable condition. I've worked at a VERY prominent ortho hospital, and been a patient of theirs for years (scoliosis) and a few weeks in a cap and voila! all good!
They actually make the helmets quite cute these days - fabrics, paints, cool plastics... again, I know this sucks, but you have a treatable condition that usually responds very well to the tx you are getting her.
(and coming from a tween that had to wear a big fugly brace for my back, in the most torcherous of years, be glad she's having this treated while young, and unaware of the vanity aspect ;-) )
If you have any more questions about the helmet, etc. let me know. My mom still works for the dept that does this caps on a daily basis, and she's always right by her email... happy to help)
im so sorry..
poor little thing

"When it comes to sleeping, whatever your baby does is normal. If one thing has damaged parents enjoyment of their babies, it's rigid expectations about how and when the baby should sleep." ~ James McKenna, Ph.D., Mother Baby Behavioral Sleep Center, University of Notre Dame
There was someone on ML a while ago (She isn't there anymore) who's daughter had teh same thing happen. She decorated the helmet with her name and hearts and things like that. Her daughter didn't seem to notice it or be bother by it at all. The problem corrected itself after a few months.
I'm sorry you are dealing with this. Hugs...
