Insomia and restless legs...

Is anyone battling this? I've been experiencing this for the last two weeks all night. I think I got 5 hours total of sleep in the last two weeks.

I see my obgyn tomorrow but I'm afraid that she will say that here is nothing she can do. I'm sleep deprieved and irrational surely she will suggest something, right?

So far I have tried epson salt baths, eating more bananas, and sleepy time tea. I also read somewhere about putting a bar of soap under your sheets - did that and I think that's a myth.

Is there anything that worked for you guys?

Thanks!

I had them really bad when I as pg with DS. I resorted most nights to the hottest bath I could stand with the lavender baby bath in the water. Most times it worked, others it didn't. I have begun to suffer from this again and I've heard that stretching before bed has helped and that it usually starts if my body gets too warm so I sleep with just a sheet. Not sure if any of these will work for you, but I totally understand where you are coming from and I would definitely be willing to try anything to get it to subside even a little.

ETA: Forgot one method...I've found that if my DH puts pressure on the area that is the most restless, it helps. He would put his legs over mine and the counter pressure would help a lot.

  • Have you tried Tylenol PM? I've been having the same problem and my Dr told me it was ok to take if I really needed it. It's made the world of difference!

I have restless leg also since I've been pregnant. Its not every night, but probably 3 nights/week. Last night was terrible and I couldn't sleep at all. I kept stretching, getting up and walking around, tried massaging myself - nothing seemed to help. I did hear there is a massaging blanket thing you can use. In the middle of the night I was googling it on my phone but it was just recently approved for home use by the FDA and I couldn't figure out how to get one. I was thinking maybe prescription? I don't remember what it was called- I was groggy.
  • My dr said baby benadryl was ok to help you sleep
  • I would ask your OB if melatonin is ok. I used it off and on before BFP. Until tonight my insomnia was more manageable. I might have to end up googling it here shortly if I have another restless night.
