Who else will have 2u2 after this LO's here?

(Sorry if this has been discussed before.)

The 2u2 board is pretty dead, andplusalso I think it would be more helpful to discuss this stuff with others who are around the same timeline.

If you'll have 2u2 after this LO:
1) How far apart will the 2u2 be?
2) Any other kids? Ages?
3) What are you most worried/scared about?
4) Did you get a 2nd crib?

Re: Who else will have 2u2 after this LO's here?

  • 1) DD and this LO(DS2) will be 18/19 months apart.
    2) DS1 is 5.5 and he is an amazing helper.
    3) I'm worried I'll just suck at the whole 2u2 thing in general. I hope they will sync up their naps...
    4) We did, because I know DD won't stay put otherwise.

    1) If this LO comes on his due date, my sons will be 10 days shy of two years apart.
    2) Just my almost 2 year old.
    3) I'm worried about handling both of them.  I'm worried how DS will react to the new baby.  My husband travels a good bit for work, so that makes me nervous, too.  I remember how bad the hormones were for me after DS, and I'm hoping it is better this time around.
    4) Yes, we bought a new set of nursery furniture for LO.  DS's crib will convert to a full size bed, so that will be his furniture.  LO's also converts, so his set will be his.

  • Yep. I have a 1 year old who won't be 2 until march and now this lil guy!

My oldest is 7 and will be 8 in November. My DD is 6 and will be 7 in September. So I had 2u2 before as well ;)

I'm worried my oldest two won't get enough attention. DW and I are trying to take turns doing things with all of our kids but, I just don't want them feeling left out.

Yup we managed to get a second crib. The ones my older kids had are still being used lol We got those neat cribs that can be turned into kids beds.

  • 1. They will be almost exactly 22 months apart.

    2. Nope, just Audrey and this baby.

    3. I'm scared of taking time away from my DD and making her feel not as important. I'm also afraid of going through the sleeplessness again while having to entertain dd.

    4. Yes, I'm keeping dd confined as long as humanly possible! She's an amazing sleeper and I'm not messing with that!

I will have 2u2 for a couple of months. I'm most worried that my DS will be hurt or not get enough attention. He's quite a mamas boy and I don't mind it! He's still in his crib and does well but we didn't get another crib. DS2 will sleep in our room either in a pack and play or in bed with us for 6 months so we'll transition DS during that time.
@Linzlu214 I'm wondering if we really needed a 2nd crib. Our 1st one isn't one that converts. The plan right now is to have the LO in our room in the Arms Reach Co Sleeper until he is 6ish months old, and then we'll move him to the crib. By that time DD will be 2, and I'm wondering if she'll be ready for a toddler bed at that point. The 2nd crib does convert, so she'll just use that whenever she's ready. I'm wondering if we could have gone cheaper though :P.

  • I will have 2u2
My oldest will be 20 mos when LO is born
I'm not worried. All new adjustments take time
No we moved DS into a big boy bed at 14 mos!
  • Finn will be about 22 months when this baby is born. So far, he's the only one. I'm feeling guilty that he won't have me to himself anymore. I feel like I'm going to miss all the fun new stuff he learns and does. We got a new crib for this one - Finn sleeps great and I'm not messing with a good thing.
  • I will have 3u3 after this baby is born 8-}

    1) My youngest will be 15 months apart. My first 2 are 17 months apart.

    2) My oldest is 2.5 years old.

    3) I loved 2u2! So much fun! I'm most worried that #3 will kick.our.collective.ass.

    4) Around 6 months old, we finally got a 2nd crib for our 2nd baby. And my girls shared a room. Which was just about the cutest thing on earth (made for very difficult napping routines, though). Before we got the crib, it was bassinet, then car seat (don't do this, btw; huge SIDS risk, which I didn't realize at the time).

This time...we're sticking with the bassinet again. I also got a RNP, that baby might like, too. My 2 year old is just about ready for a toddler bed, so when the time comes, she'll be getting a new bed & this baby will inherit her crib :-)

  • 1) How far apart will the 2u2 be? We'll have 3u2 and DD will be 20 months.

    2) Any other kids? Ages? Only DD who is currently 20 months.

    3) What are you most worried/scared about? Not too much, just making sure I give DD enough attention and she doesn't feel ignored or left out. We have a nanny and my MIL will be staying with us for a few weeks and DH will be home for two weeks, so we'll have help at least! Adjusting to have two newborns plus a 20 month old. And just getting her used to having a new brother and sister!

    4) Did you get a 2nd crib? We had two cribs already (for our first set of twins), so we bought DD a nice new one and the twins will use the two other cribs, though they'll share one to start.

  • 1. They will be about 22 months apart minus a few days

    2. No other kiddos just these 2

    3. I'm worried about how DS will react to a baby taking away some of his attention. I'm also worried about juggling two little ones and how napping will work.

    4. We only have one crib, I started transitioning DS to. Big boy bed a few months ago and he is doing well. DD will be in a RNP in our room until she is sleeping through the night then we will transition her into the crib.

  • 1) How far apart will the 2u2 be?  They are 22 months 4 days apart.
    2) Any other kids? Ages?  Just these 2 now.
    3) What are you most worried/scared about?  Same concern pretty much everyone else has, that DS doesn't resent DD and gets the attention he needs.
    4) Did you get a 2nd crib?  Yes, DS hasn't shown any interest in climbing out of his crib yet, though DH said when he went in there this morning he had one leg up on the side, so I guess that's coming to an end.  His is convertible when it's time and we figure when it's time for DD to need a toddler bed DS will get a big boy bed.  The 2nd crib isn't assembled yet (yes DD is now 6 days old...).  She's sleeping in a cradle next to our bed for now.

    1) How far apart will the 2u2 be?  Between 18-19 mos
    2) Any other kids? Ages? No others. DS1 is almost 18 mos
    3) What are you most worried/scared about?  Trying to go anywhere with both of them. Not getting any sleep ever.
    4) Did you get a 2nd crib?  No.. still torn on what to do. DS2 will sleep in co-sleeper at first for a while, and then I think we might get a 2nd mini crib, since they will be sharing a room and we are tight on space. I figure by the time DS2 grows out of the mini crib, DS1 will be ready to transition to a big boy bed, and then DS2 can have the full size crib.
DS1 has done fine in his crib, so we don't want to transition him out and rush that.

If you'll have 2u2 after this LO:
    1) How far apart will the 2u2 be?
    Just shy of 20 months

    2) Any other kids? Ages? No

    3) What are you most worried/scared about?
That DS will feel replaced. He does really good with other kids and babies I think he'll be fine but I want him to love his little brother. I am also nervous about taking care of them both I have a RCS as my children are big babies and I have a narrow pelvis so taking care of them will be a lot seeing as I probably won't be able to lift DS2 for this first 2 weeks thinking he will be around 10lbs or DS1 for closer to a month as he is around 35lbs. Thank goodness my DH taking time off and family.

    4) Did you get a 2nd crib?
Yes DS1 is still using his and had yet to try to climb out plus his converts. So we got DS2 another crib that converts as well
  • 1) They will be 18 months apart 2) No other kids. Just these two. 3) Worried about handling the two in public (grocery store, church, etc) 4) Yes, we got a second crib. DS is doing great in his crib so we didn't want to mess that up just yet.
  • I will actuly have 3 under 3. My baby is 2.5 years old my twins are coming July 12th. Then I have a 9 year old. All boys!!!
  • How far apart will the 2u2 be? 18 months. Any other kids? Ages? Just DD What are you most worried/scared about? DH works nights sometimes DD wakes up and needs to be comforted, I'm afraid of them both needing something same time. Did you get a 2nd crib? DD is in a toddler bed, but we plan on bed sharing. We did with DD till she was 16 months.

    2) Any other kids? Ages? Just DS @ 20mo
    3) What are you most worried/scared about? jealousy from DS but I'm hoping it will be a smooth transition, he's pretty good with change.
    4) Did you get a 2nd crib? Yes, we will be getting another convertible crib when DD is about 6mo, until then she will sleep in a bassinet next to my side of the bed. That's how we did it with DS.

    2) Any other kids? Ages? Stepkids 15 & 12. They are so helpful! Love dem girls.

    3) What are you most worried/scared about? I was scared in the beginning when we found out. Now that some time has passed I know it's all gonna work out. It's gonna be tough but I'm excited to get our family into full gear.

    4) Did you get a 2nd crib? No, havnt done shit. I'm horrible. We are just in between so much right now. Me possibly switching jobs which means we could move. I know baby boy will be with us for at least 6 months anyway. Come on crazy town!!

DS2 turns 2 at the end of August.
    DS1 is 5 1/2
I'm worried about my two year old being mean to the baby. He's a pincher/hitter.
We don't do cribs, so, no.

  • They will be about 22 months apart DS will be 2 at the end of August I am so worried that this will completely change DS's life and that he won't get the attention and time he deserves and needs. Yes we did get a second crib because DS still sleeps in his crib, he has yet to try and climb out once so we are holding off on the big boy bed transition

  • 1) How far apart will the 2u2 be?
    15 months
    2) Any other kids? Ages?
No others, and this LO will be our last.
    3) What are you most worried/scared about?
Like so many others: That DS will have a hard time adjusting to getting less attention. And that our new LO won't get nearly the same quality of attention that DS got as an infant. And a little bit about just living life toting 2 tinies around. And also just a tiny bit about LO starting day care in Sept, she will have the same head teacher DS had when he started and I didn't exactly love her way of doing things. To put it nicely, she is a poor communicator.
    4) Did you get a 2nd crib?
No. We ordered a toddler bed for DS that just came in yesterday, DH is picking it up today. If DS doesn't take to it right away, we also have a bassinet to use at first for LO, so we could keep DS in the crib just a little longer. Hopefully he loves his bed & we don't have to worry about getting another crib.

    Me!

    1) How far apart will the 2u2 be?

About 23 months - I'm due 7/13 and DD will be two on 8/14.

    2) Any other kids? Ages?

    Nope, just my DD.

    3) What are you most worried/scared about?

I'm a little nervous about my DD feeling displaced.  She's such a nurturer with friend's babies, etc though so I think she'll be fine aside from some normal jealousy here or there.

    4) Did you get a 2nd crib?

Nope - We transitioned DD to a twin bed a few months ago and she's taken to it like a champ.

What?  You had your baby sleeping in the car seat....like overnight sleeping or just in the carseat from when he/she fell asleep for a nap?

  • 1) How far apart will the 2u2 be? DS will be 23 months when this one is born (8/4/12)

    3) What are you most worried/scared about? I;ve had bouts of guilt because of DS.  He has been my sidekick and EVERYTHING for almost 2 years and I'm afraid he won't get that attention after #2 comes along.  I don't want him to EVER feel like he isn't my everything.  I'm worried about having 2u2 and being a single mom.  Ex is around but he contributes nothing but a pain in my ass.

    4) Did you get a 2nd crib? No, DS never used his crib and we currently bedshare my king sized bed.  #2 will be in a RNP for several months and then I'll reevaluate things depending on how nightly nursing and DS react to things.

    1) How far apart will the 2u2 be?

They will be 18 months apart

    2) Any other kids? Ages?

I have 2 other children (my older 2 were born 16 months apart) so when this baby arrives I will have 4u5

    3) What are you most worried/scared about?

Honestly, I really don’t have worries most probably because I’ve been through 2u2 before and it’s not bad at all.  People seem to forget that babies sleep a lot and your kids will go to bed (&nap) at different times so you will get your one-on-one time (I know a lot of people want their kids to nap at the same time but I think there is more benefits to this not happening.  It guarantees you one-on-one time and that time really makes your day tons better.  Sure you don’t get a “break” until after bedtime but again it makes for an easier day).  I do worry a bit about our oldest feeling left out when he starts school for the first time in the fall because it will be the first time our group is separated.  So while he’s in school his 3 other siblings will be bonding.  I’m 2% concerned that my 18 month old will have PT regression however she’s been fully PT for 5 months so if it does happen I think it will be spots and not full blown accidents and I don’t see it as a long term problem (I also remind myself that we PT our oldest when we were on maternity leave with our 2nd & he had no issues doing that).

    4) Did you get a 2nd crib?

We buy convertible cribs (crib to full size bed) for all our kids so we just keep them in their cribs until they are ready to move to a full size bed.  We have yet to buy this baby their crib yet because we bedshare for the first @7 months so it’s pointless to be getting a nursery together since the baby will never see it for a long time.

  • 1) How far apart will the 2u2 be? 21 months apart.
    2) Any other kids? Ages? Nope, this will be #2.
    3) What are you most worried/scared about? DD adjusting, going out in public, sleeping.
    4) Did you get a 2nd crib? Nope DD's been in a twin bed for 3-4 months.

  • Good thread, I always check the 2 under 2 board but it's so slow! 1) How far apart will the 2u2 be? Just shy of 20 months apart. 2) Any other kids? No, only DD #1, 19 months 3) What are you most worried/scared about? DD#1 adjusting is my biggest worry. She's been with momma nearly every day of her life and I'm nervous she'll feel neglected. She also just weaned last month, so not sure how she'll react to her sissy nursing! 4) Did you get a 2nd crib? Yes, DD #1 loves her crib and is an amazing sleeper, as another poster mentioned, I don't want to mess with that right now!!
