No one is Pro-Abortion

This is brought up by something I saw on Facebook.
I just really dislike when people get into the pro-life/pro-choice debate and say that they are pro abortion. If you were pro abortion that means you want everyone to have an abortion. Yes some people believe that women should have a choice, some believe that life begins at conception and then there are those that like to debate the exceptions. No one is pro abortion.

I saw a post on Facebook were people were arguing pro-life/pro-choice. Some people argue that they are pro abortion and that's just not accurate. It's more of a rant and I should of put this in the randoms section...oops.

Well, this will probably get interesting.

FTR I am absolutely pro-choice. Especially considering how many people who TFMR and are not thought of in this. However, since my loss I have had a lot of problems with people in the communities being offensive with language about it 'not being a real baby,' which really bothers me because it feels like they are saying what I lost wasn't a real baby.

Well that's pretty shitty. You should never just tell a woman what she had wasn't a "real" baby. I guess if she says it first that's one thing. But each woman is different. And some may feel that way, but a lot won't. Sorry people can be dicks. And that goes out to everyone who has had shit like that happen.

Pro-life over here, too. Luckily, never had a loss (to my knowledge). I actually was indifferent about it until after a super abusive relationship and he thought I could be pregnant, got the morning after pill at a regular pharmacy, and then proceeded to shove it in my mouth and hold his hands over my nose and mouth until I swallowed it. I couldn't believe people would advocate such an easy access to things like the morning after pill after what happened to me.

I understand SOs getting people drunk and raping them and then doing whatever the hell they want to try to keep doing whatever the hell they want isn't necessarily the aim in expanding the access to abortificants and medical abortions, but obviously our opinions are always tainted by personal experience. And yes, mine is.

(Also, @LadyXaverian, this is probably what you were afraid you were touching on in the This or That thread a day or two ago. There's the story. And probably why I rarely if ever enjoy sex.)

Also with how long I'm debating over posting this or not, the thread will probably be a million miles away from the OP...

@RobertJane33-- Thanks for the nice comment. I don't have problems talking about it face to face, but for some reason it's hard on the internet. It's been 7 years. Forever and yesterday all at the same time. Actually, it's one of the reasons when we first found out DD was a girl I had such a hard time dealing with it. No parent wants anything like what I've been through for their child and it was all I could think about.

A beavertail is a kind of pastry thing - the dough is rolled thin (into a long oval shape, like a beavertail), then fried until it's puffy, and then topped with toppings. Classic is just sugar, but you can have nutella, chocolate, etc. As mentioned, my favourite combines sugar with fresh squeezed lemon juice. It is delicious!

I'm so sorry to hear of your terrible experience. I was once in an abusive relationship too, I know how hard it is on you and it can stay with you in the form of PTSD. I'm finally starting to feel like myself again after over 10 years of medications for severe depression and anxiety that set in after the fact. No one ever deserves to be treated like that.

So I had never seriously considered abortion before until this pregnancy. It was unplanned, and I was looking forward to freedom from the baby/toddler stages. I am also completely aware of the realities of the sacrifices of motherhood this time around that I did not fully appreciate before my first, or even my second child, was born. I considered taking the morning after pill, then ultimately dh convinced me that another sibling would be a wonderful thing for the kids. I kind of adopted a "now or never" type attitude about it at that point and figured hey let's just do this, because I can. Well, as the weeks have passed, I have still not been able to get excited, and am actually quite anxious about it and still do think about termination almost every day, which might sound crazy. I feel bad admitting that on a baby forum where there are so many wonderful women who have experiencing painful losses against their will, and here I am considering that voluntarily. I'm not even in a 'bad' situation, but I think sometimes you need to experience an unplanned pregnancy to realize how important it is to your sovereignty to HAVE that choice, regardless of whether or not you will ever make it.

I have not experienced an unplanned pregnancy, but I had an experience that shook me and made me realize the bolded statement above.

I had mostly stepped back to lurking, but I feel the need to speak on this one. No one really knows what they would choose until they are put in that position and NO woman ever WANTS an abortion its something they are forced into by circumstances, parents, abusive boyfriends. Im not really sure where I stand on this one. I think more than arguing pro-life vs pro-choice I argue that their needs to be more education on the matter (non biased, medical information)

I got pregnant as a teen. I was on the pill, but I don't think I had been on it long enough for it to be effective. I knew that was a possibility so I asked him to also pull out or use a condom until I had finished one whole cycle. He didn't, he tried to play it off but I know it was on purpose. Im one of those crazies who doesn't get symptoms. I took a test when my period didn't show and it was negative (Im guessing I took it too early) and then I had a gyno exam a few weeks later and when I mentioned the lack of period he said it was normal for the type of BC I was on so didn't think anymore about it. A few months later when Id finally had enough of being used and we broke up something told me to take another test. It was positive. It was probably one of the scariest days of my life I didn't know what else to do. He wasn't going to be responsible about it, I had no means to care for a baby, and my parents wouldn't have let me come home with it. Even worse when I chose it I thought I was only a few weeks and convinced myself it wasn't a baby. When I got there I found out I was 14 weeks and needed a different procedure. I was already there I didn't feel like I could leave even with the new information. no one explained the procedure to me. I won't get gory but I think the type of procedure I had done should be illegal. It was horrific to realize mid procedure what they were actually doing.

I guess what I am getting at is, have your opinion, be pro-life or pro choice but don't judge on the matter. its easy to say you would never do something until you put there. Its not something any woman ever "wants" and a woman/girl who chooses it will have to live with it for the rest of her life. If I knew then what I know now about certain procedures I would have chosen differently. If they had showed me the ultrasound I would have chosen differently. I had no idea at that age what a 14 week fetus looked like.

You and me both. I didn't consider the alternative, but I'm not in that excited, shopping for baby clothes kind of mood yet, and I'm not bubbling to tell the family. I gave away all my maternity clothes and baby clothes. My youngest is so close to being done with diapers. My car won't fit 3 car seats. I'm not looking forward to making the boys share a room and figuring out what to do with all the stuff and how to get them to go to sleep at night when they are in the same room. I'm afraid if it's another boy it will change the older two's relationship (they are best buddies and I'm afraid one will get jealous of the other spending more time with the youngest).

Hubby has his consultation for a vasectomy next week, the day after I have my first OB appt. What cheers me up the most about the situation is seeing my four year old interact with his baby cousin. He loves babies, and he will be excited when he finds out he's getting another brother or sister. It's going to be a big change, but I'm sure once #3 is here it will be like he/she was meant to be here all along.
