Has anyone rented CD before?

Hi! We are due 10/27 and are considering CD. We are not first time parents, but my DH has 3&5 year olds... I have a 3 year old. We don't plan on having more babies after this one. However, I'd like something more green and cost effective.

I thought about going with Alva diapers and buying a set. The more I read, it sounds like we need newborn diapers. I seem to be drawn to pockets and AIOs. Thing is, my boy was a chunky thing with fat legs as a newborn. Both of his were tiny and still are. If I could count on this one being chunky,
I'd buy a set of AIOs right now and not worry about a newborn stash. Buuut, I worry I'll need the NBs.

Would you put money into CD with it being your last child? Would you rent a newborn stash? Or would u just go with disposables?

Love the idea of not running out of diapers & having to go to the store, too.

What to do?!

    Have you looked into a delivery service for cloth diapers?
    That's what I use and I LOVE IT!

    My son was 8 lbs at birth. We used disposibles for the first few weeks. He fit his pocket AIOs by 4 weeks. They may have fit sooner, I just didn't try before then. Besides, disposibles are easier for cleaning up meconium diapers and cord care and you dont want all that vasaline on the cloth diapers if you have a boy and circumcise.

    We spent $215 on our NB stash and ended up getting getting an assortment of NB AIOs and pockets and mostly Green Mountain Diaper workhorses and covers. I like the GMD workhorses because they are easy and inexpensive and everyone on the CD board seems to love them.

    Planning to switch to most AIOs and one size diapers after the newborn phase.

    Hmmm! Thanks guys. I guess I'm kind of cheap. DH hates the idea of renting. I tried to reason using the line "well, you're kinda renting a fork when you eat at a restaurant, which hadn't been nearly as well sanitized as a rented diaper". He didn't really take that answer lol!!!

    I didn't think about the idea of meconium and how yucky that would make the diapers. I think we may go the sposies first route for a few weeks with the advice you all have given.

    I live in northwest pa (rural), I don't know that we have a delivery service here. Wonder if there are any online ones that might be cheaper or better... I'm always taking suggestions!!!

    Have you looked into diaper trials? I am pretty sure they use all new diapers, but you rent them and then send them back. They resell them as used after you return then. I know jillians drawers does newborn trials.
