Trouble TTC

Thanks for nothing, Clomid.

CD1 came yesterday. I'm not very surprised; my lining was quite thin thanks to Clomid. Clomid did leave me a gift through- a large cyst on my ovary. So, I'm benched this cycle. Also, I horseback ride competitively, and my planned consolation prize for not being pregnant was getting to ride and do a bunch of horse shows in July- now I can't ride for a month due the the cyst.

Just feeling sorry for myself...I know it could be worse, and I'm sure I'll be (almost) over it tomorrow.

Anyone here have cysts? Were they gone in a month? Maybe less...?

Re: Thanks for nothing, Clomid.

  • The same thing happened to me after my last Clomid cycle. I have been benched all month. I'm sorry. I know it really sucks. I am not done with my benched cycle yet, so I can't really tell you how long it took the cyst to go away. From all of the frantic internet stalking I did, it seems like most people's cysts were gone by the beginning of their next cycle. However, occasionally it takes 2, or even 3 months. :-( I am really, really hoping that is not the case for either of us.

One thing you might want to think about (if you haven't already) is to ask for BCPs. They don't necessarily help the cyst go away, so my doctor originally wasn't going to give them to me. However, I don't ovulate or start periods on my own, so if I had to wait 30 days, take a pregnancy test, take Provera for 10 days, and then wait another 4-ish days for a period, I would have been benched closer to 2 months. BCPs will force my to have a period 28 days after my last period, so as long as the cyst actually is gone, it will get me back to treatment significantly faster, which made being benched less frustrating for me.

You might decide that you want to see if you ovulate on your own too though, and that is perfectly fine as well. I just thought I'd throw that idea out there. :-)

I hope your benched cycle flies by and you're ready to go next cycle.

  • Thanks @lebradford! The nurse is going to suggest BCPs to my doctor- I should hear tomorrow. I am also going on vacation during the end of July, so I want to try to manipulate the timing so if the cyst is gone, I am not out for two cycles.

Mine is 4cm- described as "good sized"- I have no idea if this size falls into the "go away in one month" or "go away in three month" category...I guess we'll see.

I hope your "rest cycle" (what, is this a vacation??) flies by, too!

  • So sorry, what a disappointment - especially the horseback riding! It just doesn't seem fair. Sending supportive, compassionate internet hugs your way.

I've had 3 cysts but not during active treatment so I did not learn exactly how long they took to go away. Hope yours clears up soon!

  • Sorry Clomid did you wrong!

I didn't have any last cycle but they upped my dosage this cycle, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Tried for two years, finally a BFP!
  • Thank you everyone, for the support and advice. My estrogen was low, so I'm good to start BCPs. Just waiting for the call from the nurse, which should come any minute...
