How long- food to breast milk?

How long does it take for what you eat to be processed into breast milk? We are dealing with extreme gas and the uncomfort that comes with it and I'm trying to figure out if it's something I ate. They're super fussy and gassy this morning so is it dinner from last night or lunch from yesterday?

Also are there foods that commonly cause gas in babies that I should look for right away? I know it's partly developmental (they're 11.5 weeks old, 7 adjusted) but I hate seeing them in so much obvious pain.

  • It's unlikely that it's what you're eating.  It's not impossible but there is a good chance it's something else.

  • Thanks those are both helpful to know. Takes a little guilt off me. I thought it would be weird if they were both sensitive to the same food.
  • Agree with PP, it's extremely unlikely it's something you're eating. More than likely it's just that baby's digestive system is still maturing. Try giving baby a daily probiotic, that should help but it will take a few weeks, don't except overnight results.
