NBR: Fashion Advice

Ok ladies what's the deal with rompers? They look really cute and flattering where they would hide baby weight that I haven't lost yet. On the other hand I'm thinking they'll be a pain in the ass to use the bathroom! Someone give me the scoop! Any of you ladies wear them and love them or wear them and hate them? Also I see Forever 21 has a lot of cute ones- anyone know how they are with sizes?

Re: NBR: Fashion Advice

  • IMO the waistbands of rompers tend to settle at a very unflattering point on the torso. The elastic waist usually hits below the belly button so it's not the narrowest point. This highlights any poochiness one might have, even if you are fairly thin. Try them anyway, you never know, but this has been my experience even when I was thin.

I tend to agree with the PP. I don't think they are very flattering on most people, especially if you are trying to distract from the post baby belly. Personally I feel like the maxi dresses are much more flattering and better at hiding my flubby belly.

  • Thanks ladies. Maybe I'll go and try one on just to see how I look in it and to stop my curiosity. I was looking for something to wear to a combined July 14th, happy 50th bday, happy retirement party. Maybe I'll look into a cute maxi!

  • I am also dying to try on a romper. Might have to check it out with I lose a little more baby weight. I agree with pp I have been living in maxis they are super flattering!
  • I have two from before getting pregnant. I loved them! One is from target and the other Banana Republic. I think you def need to try on. I'd personally forgo Forever 21. I'm 29 and that store's merchandise seems to be made for the body of a 14 year old IMO.

I haven't tried them on pp yet so who knows how they look now.

  • From looking at various body types wearing rompers, i think it depends the body vs leg length ratio to look good. Ive seen some more fuller women wear them and look great because their body seemed to fit the waist of the romper just right. Doesnt hurt to try some on but the maxi is a great go to!
  • I look like a stripper in maxi dresses with my already-huge-boobs-now-milk-filled F's.

I could never rock a romper as I am super short. I look like an oompah loompah.

    Yoga pants and tanks FTW!

How are people doing dresses and BFing? I don't want to pull my whole dress up.

This is exactly why I can't wear any of the dresses I own.
Strapless dresses pulled down right at the boob.
  • Anyone try on/wear a swim suit yet? We are going up to a lake for a family vacation in a few weeks and I know none of my current suits are going to fit. The thought of going to a store and trying on swimsuits makes me cringe. Hopefully I can find an old lady style black one piece with one of those little skirts to hide my cellulite-y and stretch mark-y legs! (Yes, I got stretch marks not only on my belly, but all over my legs too. yay!)

    Blasphemy.
  • Rompers are only okay on my girls.

I don't own it but know so so many women who love this suit for their postpartum bod.

  • I love rompers. Just a pain to go to the bathroom
  • Thanks ladies for all your input about rompers! @danabsd‌ that's a really cute suit!! I might try on my suits soon. I have two tankini tops and two boy short bottoms and a one piece- I should be ok unless they're too small.
