IUI follicle question and hcg 'booster'

Hi ladies!

I had an IUI today, my 4th one over the span of almost 3 years, with some IVF's and breaks in between. I had my u/s yesterday, had 3 mature follicles, so my RE said to trigger and do IUI on Sunday. I said I am an extremely early ovulater (when cycling naturally, using OPKS. I can get a smiley face, then a few hours later get a stark negative :/ ) so he said ok, then you can do your IUI on Saturday. So, did it today with a different RE who was working this weekend. He did my u/s and only found 2 follicles and a small one that he said I already ovulated. Even though I ovulate early, I have never already ovulated on CD 12, prior to a procedure. Has this happened to anyone else? He went ahead with the procedure since I still had 2 mature follies. I am kinda bummed bc I have had 4 before (most all other times) and gotten a BFN. Just grasping at straws as usual :)

Also, my new RE also does something called an HCG booster 5-8 days after IUI to give an extra 'boost', but I kinda feel like this round is a bust because of all the circumstances, so not sure I should even waste my time and $ on this extra shot. Any thoughts or advice?

March 2012-June 2012 - IUI's- BFN

Sept 2012= IVF #1- 14 eggs, 9 fert, no frosties. 2 blasts 5dt=BFN
Oct/Nov 2012= IVF #2- 20 eggs, 14 fert, no frosties. 2 blasts transferred despite mild OHSS=BFN
Nov 2012= hubby got transferred, moving to new state, time for a break until summer!
Feb 2013= Natural BFP!! Valentine's day surprise! 
Mar 2013= m/c @ 7.5 weeks :(

*New RE*
July 2013= ER for a freeze all cycle. 21 eggs, 9 fert, freeze all day 1.
Lab is closed in August! (Of course!) 
Sept 2013= FET #1 - transferred 3 not so great quality day 3 embies=BFN
Oct 2013= FET #2- transferred 4! 3 good, 1 poor= BFP! On hubby's birthday :)
Started bleeding at 5w5d. ER trip confirms one gest sac, one yolk sac, no fetal pole. 6w u/s showed nothing. Levels drop from 4,500 to 250. 
Nov.2013=meet with RE to discuss where to go from here.
       *Tests showed PCOS-ish. High testosterone. Start Metformin 1500 mg.
February 2014- CLomid, IUI, Trigger. 4 juicy and ripe follies (24,25, 28 and 34!) 111 million post wash sperm count. BFFN!!!! WTH?
March 2014- Over my RE. Year of fun for us and looking into RMANJ.

    Sorry I don't have any advice to give, but best wishes to you. Maybe just see how this procedure goes w/o the booster? Then have a clearer plan for next cycle? Good luck. We all need that :)

    No I don't have a LP issue, I think his office tends to do it with an IUI cycle? This is my first cycle with him,  since he is my new RE. He wanted to do IVF with PGD but we are saving up for that. In the meantime, I didn't want to sit out each month, so figured I would coast with IUI's and injects. 

    For some reason, I just don't feel it this month, but like you said, I might wonder what if? I even thought about canceling my acupuncture session. I dunno what to do!

    I have no experience but I thought the extra booster was to keep the progesterone up. If it were me id do it because I'd always wonder what if. I tend to take the advice of my RE's because I feel he knows better than I do. Good luck!

    @Pintobean39‌ yeah I might as well just do it. I am on Crinone gel, but it wouldn't hurt.
