OH BOY!!

I had my 36 week appt today and my ob said that my belly is ALL baby and she expects him to be big!  Surprise

My girls were both over 8lbs so now I'm scared.  On a plus side I am dilated to 2 and 60% efaced.

Is anyone else scared to have a big baby?

Re: OH BOY!!

  • Well I don't think this baby will be too big.  DH wants it to be though.  He was 10 pounds, so he thinks our baby should be too.  I will be happy with 7 or around there.  Baby has been measuing just fine.

  • I don't know how much I believe the ultrasound but at 33 weeks the u/s showed she was weighing 6lbs and my son was only 6lbs 10oz at birth!
  • Everyone seems to think our baby will be a 9pounder! I am like we will just have to see. I am bit scared of him being a big baby boy Smile

  • Yes! Baby was measuring over 6 and a half pounds at less than 34 weeks! The doctor tried to make me feel better by saying "It could be plus or minus 10%". PLUS or minus?? I'm a little nervous, but the baby will come out one way or another.

  • Last week I had a fill in dr because mine was out on vacation and she said that she thinks LO is big... today I saw my regular OB and she said that she doesn't predict or want to predict but I am measuring at 35 right now.

  • Ya I'm scared ish-less!! I want a 6.7 to 7.2 haha cuz I feel like I won't tear to horrible with a baby more on the small side Tongue Tied My mom had a 3rd degree tear and my close friend had a 4th degree tear that went forward into her vagina!!!! So yes very scared! Plus I don't want a c-section either. I'm a small girl, not prego, I'm 5'3 and 110 lbs so I figure any baby will tear me I'm just hoping it will a itty bitty one!!

  • I am!  My 32 week ultrasound showed the baby weighing 4 lbs, 13 oz, which would put him close to 9 pounds if he grows the average 1/2 pound a week.  I'm afraid I won't be able to get him out naturally, although I know lots of people have babies that big with no problem.

  • I am scared!! My friend just had a 10 pound 7 ounce baby a few days ago...now i'm nervous that my LO will be big! I don't know if this matters or not, but I don't feel like my stomach has gotten very big throughout my pregnancy, so hopefully that means LO won't be too big.
  • I am not scared to have a big baby, but that is because I am having a RCS. DS1 was 8 lbs 15 oz and DS2 was 8 lbs 13 oz - both at 39 weeks. At 29 weeks, DS3 was measuring 4.5 lbs so I am expecting him to keep up with his big brothers :)

I find out Tuesday at another u/s how big they are estimating him to be now....kind of excited about that appt :)

  • My doc says the same thing to me every week, that I'm all belly. I've been consistantly measuring 2-3 weeks ahead so we'll have a growth u/s on Wednesday to see how big he is. DH was 10lb 9oz, so I am a little worried about a really big baby.

  • I posted about finding out we might have a big baby a few days ago.  They told us right now our baby girl is in the 95th percentile for growth!  I'm def. nervous about her being too big to push out.  My husband and I are both super tall so we expected a large baby, but I just hope it doesn't cause complications!
