@cagoldi we were told the same thing. My ped did say if she wakes up after about 8 hours and wants a bottle she was fine with that, but if she's waking up earlier it probably is out of habit. We were instructed to feed her, change her if needed, and put her down immediately following without rocking her to sleep. Some nights she wakes up, so we do feed her, but she's had a few nights she shockingly made it all the way through.
I still find this to be weird advice, even though this is the approach we're taking as well. What if they are thirsty? I wake up a couple times a night and have a sip of water. There have been a couple times in the last month or so when A just wanted an ounce or two of milk. I just figure he's parched, not getting up out of habit.
Maggie is 14 pounds, 8 ounces, which is only 18th percentile. The doctor is a little concerned - we have to come back in a month for a weight check - but said to up her daycare bottles to 5 ounces and feed her as much solid food as she wants at her one meal a day instead of limiting her to 3 tablespoons like we had been doing.
She is 25 inches long, which is 22nd percentile, I think, and her giant head is 16 inches, which is 70th percentile.
I'm sorry you guys are struggling with weight too! We made some minor changes and Layla's weight has increased a lot in a few weeks. Maggie is perfect and you are doing great! I finally had to decide that somebody has to be on the low end statistically and as long as she is still growing it is what it is
Again, I think I have the biggest N13 baby weighing in at a whopping 24 lbs. 8 oz and 28". Any challengers?
Sweet baby E hated her check up. She must have sensed the doctors disapproval at her size and refused to do any tricks for her. If the doc came near she made an angry face and started waving her hands around bitch-slap style. You do not mess with my giant baby.
We have been strictly instructed to STTN...stat. We''ll see how it goes, last night was rough.
DS doesn't have his 6 month apt. until June 2nd but I'm guessing we will be pretty close. DS was 21lbs at 4 months and he is consistently staying in the 99 percentile so we'll see.
Dapostrophe and rachelhermione415: are you or your spouses tall? My DH is 6'8", so my pedi just keeps telling me it's all genetics. My guy was 29.75" and 22lbs at his 6 month appt and seems like he's grown even more in the last week. He is growing out of his 12 month Carter's pants that I just bought at a rapid pace, and I swear people think he's "slow" because he looks like an 18 month old who can't talk and can barely sit up on his own! He seems like he's going through yet another growth spurt right now and it's a little scary - DH was taller than his 5'9" mom at 10. Yikes!!!
Me: 35, DH: 34, Started TTC #1 since November '11
Several Clomid/Femara rounds, then fresh IVF September '12
Fresh IVF #1: chemical pregnancy, FET #1: ectopic, methotrexate
FET #2 resulted in our amazing baby boy Levi, born on 11/3/13 at 8 lbs, 5 oz. He is our everything!
@cagoldi I agree, I did think it was strange, but I really trust our ped so I was willing to give it a try. Thankfully she hasn't been waking up early in the night, if she does it's around 4 and we do feed her. Though on the nights she actually STTN I do wonder if that 4 am wake up/bottle is just habit!
Just got back from our 6 mo wellness visit and LO is 19lbs 7oz (79%), 27.5 inches (77%), and head circ is 17.32 (62%)! No wonder carrying him in his carrier is a chore...he's a chunk!
Big baby here as well- 20.5 lbs 26.75 inches (97% for weight , 90% I think for height) Doctor is happy so I am too. And baby is fat and happy so I'll count my blessings.
Ok... stats are in but I feel like I'm kind of cheating because he actually turned 6 mo. 2 weeks ago on the 21st. But he is 31.5 inches and 23.5 lbs. His middle name is Mack. I think I'm going to just change it to Big Mac now. I'm proud that he is a big healthy boy, but strangely sad that it means he's all the more closer to him being too big to be held. My mom already had to stop watching him because he is too heavy. :-( I need it all to slow down.
Siena had her 6 month appointment a week or so ago. She weighed 16.4lbs and is 26 inches. I believe weight and head was 50th percentile and height 25. She's just like her mama short legs and a big head!
I think I'm one of the latest N13 babies (12/7)...B had his appt. Friday and came in at 28 inches, 19.6 pounds! Shots are evil, he was a little grumpy bear all weekend! Hoping he snaps out of it before we start our drive to Chicago on Friday!
I'm late at this but A just had his 6 month appointment today even tho he's almost 7 months. He is 23lbs 11oz, 28 inches long! He's in the 99th percentile
Re: 6 month stats
Haha oops! Shots lol
Doctor is happy so I am too. And baby is fat and happy so I'll count my blessings.
