Big follicle again!

So last cycle I took clomid 100 mg which made my follie grew very fast and by the time I went for my ultrasound it was already 26mm. Doc triggered me right away and I ovulated the next day and had IUI.

This cycle I didn't take any clomid, and went in for my scan on CD12 today and again it's big, 23x26 the doc said. He triggers me right away but now I'm concern again that it's too big and too mature. We did BD last night and will do it again tonight. So timing wise it's pretty good but just worried about big follie... Could it be I'm still getting the effect of clomid from last cycle?

No never did a baseline US. Which day is it usually done on?

I was told that the meds can still be effective from previous cycles- I had a 27 last time - GL

You should have a baseline done around cd3 to make sure there are no cyst left over from the month before. I never took clomid so I'm no help there. I was just wondered when I read it if something was already there when you started the month.

Maybe some more experienced people know more.

Although I've heard a lot about follicles in the teens when people trigger, when I went to read about it, the low 20s are normal for Clomid (and of course they grow a couple mm before O). Since yours were already close to 25+ before trigger, I would wonder about over maturation.

I'd ask your RE - it sounds like he was already trying to fix the issue by taking away the Clomid. I'd ask him if this could be the Clomid effects still, and it might resolve next cycle, or if you need to monitor a bit earlier (I don't know if CD3 is needed if you're not on meds, but I know CD10 is more common than CD12 for the next ultrasound because by CD12 many women are ovulating - and it sounds like that might help for you).

Finally, from what I understand, the stats on follicle size are just averages, so there is always the chance that a follicle of that size is healthy and properly mature - just somewhat lower chance than one a bit smaller, perhaps. Hopefully this is your cycle and you don't have to even worry about what will happen next time!
