Its a form of making themselves feel validated, or to save what little face they have left. I've seen it several times, it must be part of the GBCB template.

    I cried yesterday because of my job the past few weeks. I've been so stressed and so busy, it really fucking sucks. I wish I could get paid to bump instead, the mandatory overtime would be much more welcomed.
