As someone with visible and extensive facial scarring and paralysis... this breaks my heart.

I am simply at a loss of words. I still have days when I'm reminded of my face and that I don't look "like everyone else" and it hurts me and I'm 28. The only glimmer of hope I have is that she's so young that hopefully she won't remember this and that she has loved ones around her that will make her feel special and loved.

I'm not a big KFC fan to begin with, but I will not be giving them any more business in the future.

Victoria is such a gorgeous little girl and it makes me so sad to think that she cried all the way home or is embarrassed of the way she looks. I hate how cruel people can be and it makes me so nervous about someone being mean to my LO, and hurting her feelings.

It truly does make me stabby thinking that anyone can be that cruel and ignorant to anyone - especially LO. To think that someone would think that's okay to say to anyone - especially a beautiful little girl who has already endured a traumatic experience is just gut wrenching.

I hope I can teach LO the value of kindness and that he can appreciate everyone for their differences and not judge them.

Ugh, that sweet little girl - that is just awful...

In a kind of similar story, a Mom was asked to stop breastfeeding her baby at a restaurant in CT.

What is it with these restaurants that think they can ban people for physical reasons?! My niece has brain surgery at 18 months and her head was mostly shaved with a huge incision with staples - I can understand people stopping and looking but it breaks my heart to think that she would've been rejected by society.

Aww thanks @ludali ! I'm glad I've had the experiences I've had bc it has shaped me into who I am today.. but I don't wish bullying of any type for anything on anyone.. it's hard enough to grow up, there's no reason to throw hate into the mix. How is your niece doing?

And I'm with you on the breastfeeding thing too.. I just don't get it.. are we really living a society where ppl are so ignorant to other peoples' situations and circumstances and feel so entitled to not only judge but approach others about them?

@NikkiD522 thanks for asking about my niece! Her surgery was just over 2 years ago and she is thriving, just some speech delays. :-) No surgeons in the country wanted to operate on her, but my sister found one in St. Louis who wanted to take the risk. Unfortunately they had to fly half-way across the country...making my sister nervous of what my niece looked like post-op, but thankfully anyone who spoke up to them only gave support/love. Seriously people, leave little kids alone. :-(

As for the breastfeeding Mom - the restaurant claimed it was distracting other patrons...who cares. Seriously. The law in CT says Moms can BF wherever they want without cover - woot! There was a large nursing demonstration outside of the restaurant on Friday...50+ Moms sitting outside a Friendly's nursing away - and the restaurant gave a written apology. WOOT MOMMAS!

I read this and the jetblue incident where the little girl couldn't use the bathroom and had to pee on the chair today. I wanted to punch someone in the face after reading those.

That sweet little girl ... WTF is wrong with people????

I have some pretty decent scars on my leg and foot from a childhood accident, and they've gotten me some stares/reactions over the years. I carry around this quote from the book Little Bee, because I love it.

"We must see all scars as beauty. Okay? This will be our secret. Because take it from me, a scar does not form on the dying. A scar means, I survived."

I saw this article yesterday, and I just wanted to cry. I cannot believe that there are people out there who are so full of hate that they would do this to anyone, much less a little girl. She had already been through so much, and then to be ostracized because of it? I can't even imagine.

@chelseamb11‌ I hope very much that they fired that employee. What I wonder however is what was going through that person's head. Nowhere in my darkest thoughts would I ever think asking someone to leave because of scars or deformities was ever ok. It blows my mind some of the people that we share this earth with.
