And type in your own town/city and see if there are any local people. It is at home doggie care. My sister does this service and it is awesome because it is other pet owners or people that love dogs that pet sit for you at their house. Also depending on the person they can be really accommodating with schedules. My sister has taken pups super late due to late flights and what not. It is a really great service.
Thank you. My sister can come check in in him and I bet my neighbor would, too... I have never left him alone overnight though and am just worried he'll feel scared or abandoned
I'm going to ask DH if his friend (who Buddy loves) would be willing to come stay here a few nights. If nothing else I'll stock the fridge with food and beer for him...? I'd pay him, too, though I don't think he'd take it. Maybe between him and my sister, it will be ok.
I just looked up on that service, @taymiller - Thanks! I'm going to contact someone local tomorrow too.
My parents just kill me. I love them dearly, but they truly have a way of turning everything into shit show. I feel so guilty saying this, but it might be easier to not have them here. Buddy's well-being aside, it's more how my dad just can't respect my wishes on this one thing and I don't have patience for it right now.
Also, sorry for the minor freakout. My horomones are in total overdrive and I feel really... emotional. Over everything, but apparently my dog in particular. How could I not though, look at him.
@lest12 - he is super cute. I know how you feel though, my dog is super important and I worry about how she is going to take the changes. My mom is staying with us and will be on doggy duty while I am in the hospital so luckily I don't have to worry. Sorry you are having a rough time, here's hoping tomorrow will be better!
@lest12 We had a small freak out in my house earlier this week regarding who would be taking care of our special needs cat while we were at the hospital. She stresses so badly if we kennel her that she has seizures (she is epileptic). Gave me a full blown anxiety attack. Thank god my mom came to the rescue!
@internationalkate - I'm sorry to hear about the freak-out but glad it's resolved! I hope she deals with the situation well and doesn't get to stressed, poor thing!
@Rachel5130 I remember a friend telling me that when I have kids my pet will become "just a pet" and less a part of the family. I haven't had my kid yet but I seriously doubt she's right. I agree with you...I don't think he could ever be "just a dog."
Right? I feel like those are the people that begin to ignore their husbands and friends, and when their children grow up and get lives of their own, they are left with an empty nest. It's like JNerd said the other day, I will be a mom soon, and that will be a huge part of me, but it won't take over my entire life and identity.
Also this person never had a dog growing up, only a cat. Clearly she didn't have a special relationship with her cat.
You ladies are so right on! I also can't believe the number of people that tell me I may need to "get rid" of my animals after the baby is born. I like to remind them that I (and millions of children) grew up with animals, and that having pets teaches kids compassion and responsibility, all while actually lowering their risk of developing animal allergies. Drives me nuts!

Yes! It's amazing how many people are like "so are you giving up the dog and the cat when the baby gets here?" Or "what are you going to do with Apollo and Skynard?"....uhhhh.....why would I give them up? I'm not going to "do" anything. I also love the looks on people's faces when I tell them that the dog will still be sleeping on our bed with us once baby gets here. Sorry I'm keeping my dog's regular routine as best I can with a baby? Why don't people get this?? (I guess because most of them aren't dog owners)
My coworker very nicely gave me his wife's pump so I wouldn't have to buy one. Its a single user that has obviously been used, so it's trash. I haven't gotten round to throwing it out and C found it this morning. She is having so much fun playing with the bottles and bag that I'm getting some peace and quiet.. So I'm letting her. It all looks like it's been cleaned, and she's not putting anything near her mouth. I'll just wash her hands when she's done.
@mrsdbc Charlie's is also bleeding a bit. I'm not putting anything on it, washing around it very carefully with just water, and putting him in darker clothes so the blood stain isn't noticeable.
I told her that was creepy and weird and she laughed. That was seriously the most awkward moment I've had with her in the last 6 years, and now I don't want her babysitting.
I had a really vivid dream that I was breastfeeding last night (should note that LO is still firmly an inside squishy). Was so odd, totally gave strange contractions, and startled me wide awake. This is what I get for falling asleep lwhile reading The Complete Book of Breastfeeding!
@ktcort13 congrats! Can't wait to hear your story!
@lest12 sorry you've had such a stressful time, but I'm glad it's working out!
So after a long weekend of 3-6 minute apart contractions, and a minor water breaking scare, I was able to get some rest and today I feel like a new woman!!! It also helped that the Spurs won! GO SPURS GO!!!!!
I haven't really had a chance to update w/ my birth story yet, but my baby girl arrived on Wednesday, June 11th, at 12:48pm weighing 6lbs 14oz. and 20 1/4". Life has been crazy since coming home but she is absolutely amazing and I love watching my husband with her. I would love some thoughts and prayers for her though... something's going on with her and she might have an infection. we have an appointment this afternoon, but if she develops a fever we have to take her straight to the emergency room. I'm a bit of a mess, but trusting that everything will turn out. My DH came home early from work to be with me.
@Rachel5130 a championship shirt would be so cool to have. I wanted a spurs onesie for LO but couldn't find one, so a friend sent us a tshirt. It's definitely something he'll grow into.
@Rachel5130 you guys are on the ball, haha! Sucks that the buckles broke though- Hopefully you can still make it work.
And thanks! Since we live in Phoenix MH is a Suns fan and he'd rather see our kid in purple and orange. I told him too bad, and that since I was the one carrying and birthing our son, he's automatically a Spurs fan.
@Brittnic531 - Congrats!! And I hope she doesn't get a fever, good for you for staying calm... T&P!
I have a stupid SS question: Do I have to surface wash my diaper bag before using it? And I have to wipe down the crib & changing table, right? (Just...soap & water...? Disinfectant wipe...??) Sorry, I know that's really dumb and I should have figured that out by now. : /

I wish that argument wouldve worked with DH for hockey, however where we live if you're not a Flyers fan (which I am not, DH is), you're screwed and will get made fun of and some people get nasty about it. So I took the baseball team and used the "you got the hockey team and I carried her for 9 months so I get the baseball team"
@caitb413@rachel5130 I actually hated basketball, especially to sit and watch it on TV but thanks to my husband and the Spurs I've been a fan for the past 5 years. I was really excited that I got to see the big 3 play and win a championship! @Rachel5130 My husband and I both said we wanted a shirt almost simultaneously! Lol
@jclester614 I don't remember wiping anything down with C, and the only reason I did it this time is because it needed a quick clean after C used it all. Definitely don't worry about the bag. If you want to do the rest, I suggest a Lysol wipe.
SS:: After losing 8% of her body weight and not gaining and ounce for the first 11 days of her life, my Lucy finally gained 3 ounces! We can stop going to the doctor every other day! I'm so glad and feel a weight lifted off me. She still has a ways to go go to get to birth weight, but she's on her way finally!
Just got back from our first pediatrician appointment and found out that at 4 days old, DD is already back up to her birth weight! We go back in a week just to make sure that she's still gaining and it's not a fluke, but still, it makes the painful engorgement and sore nipples a little easier to handle knowing she's doing well.

Ok, I'm breathing again. Thanks, guys *deep breathe*
I think I need a good night rest. Thank you again!
