Bending over is overrated...

Ok so putting on tennis shoes, with laces, took more effort than I ever thought possible. We also went putt-putt and after the third hole H had to bend down for me... Anyone else think bending down is overrated?

Definitely. I ask DD to pick stuff up for me when I can/when she's willing and sometimes choose to just leave stuff for later (food dropped under the table, her toys, etc.).

ETA - I live in my tennis shoes but rarely tie them. The laces are loosened so I can slip them on and off and so I don't trip on them.

  • At work if i drop something I really consider if i need it before I pick it up. Sometimes I actually argue with myself over it.

  • Totally agree. Dropped my hairbrush while getting ready for work on Friday and decided it was much better to just go for the bed head look than try to maneuver and pick it up. H does help me whenever he is around.

  • My whole job depends on me being on my feet, giving baths, changing clothes, bending, picking up, lifting people. Ugh lol 10 more weeks of that! But I have to admit my body is used to this work and hasn't failed me yet...I just have to think I better and new ways of doing some thibgs its all about positive flexible thinking.
  • For me its bending over while sitting. I can stand and bend ok still, but bending over the belly while sitting is very uncomfortable
  • For sure. A couple weekends ago I thought it would be a great idea to take my 2 year old strawberry picking. I mean, what a fun little activity!!!  Uh...wtf? After I bent down to pick the second strawberry, I thought I had lost my mind!   :/

  • Yup agreed.. Bending over especially to put shoes and socks on is quite the adventure now! Hell, putting my underwear on is hard without tipping over lol if I drop stuff I use my toes to pick it up a lot.. Or if my hubby is home he helps me A LOT!

  • Yes. And I drop things all the time. Already twice today a coworker had found me contemplating whatever lays at my feet. Of course they just laugh and pick it up for me. At least they find it endearing; I really hope it doesn't get old for them these last couple months.

  • Yep not a fan of bending over. Last night I painted Dds toes and fingers and decided to do my toes as well. I never thought I would be out of breath from that but they look pretty good.

  • See, this is where having a homeschooled 7 year old at home is so freaking awesome. I drop something and I really need it? I call her to pick it up.

All though, she made fun of me for it when I dropped my credit card at the store and she had to pick it up.

Yup. I'm at the kicking things around with my feet stage.

  • I don't have a terrible time with bending over yet, except that it almost always makes me feel like I'm going to puke or sometimes even causes me to puke.  For the shoes, I do now put my foot up on a chair or the coffee table to tie the laces.  I too have used toes to do some of the work for me.

DH is going to have to help me soon with basic grooming... I can't go through a hot summer without my legs shaved!

I can still get my legs, though I have to do it sitting in the tub now and it takes me twice as long, but I had given up on my lady bits until tonight when I could no longer handle rocking the full 70's bush. I finally gave in and asked H to help me. Lucky for me, he thought it was endearing and just grinned as he got his trimmer out

I've gotten pretty good at picking things up with my toes and bringing my foot to meet my hand. :)

This!!! I have monkey feet. I can pinch anything with my toes like no body's business.

At least summer shoes are so much easier than Uggs (yes, I had problems bending over and putting on Uggs the last time). It's shaving the Beave that seems to be coming more challenging. It's basically just guesswork right now...

  • I have slip on shoes now, they are not as supportive though so it's a bit of a trade off. As far as getting things I've dropped there is an internal debate if it's important enough or not luckily people around me have been really nice and helpful

Even getting pants on is hard. I keep missing the leg. It is ugly
    This! Ugh.

  • I bend at the hips...one leg extended behind me. Sometimes I forget (dont ask me how) and I try to bend...ouch.

That's what I do too, the other day DS dropped his sippy cup while grocery shopping so I looked around to make sure I had enough room to get it. Apparently the lady a few rows over was in a huge hurry and ran into me.

  • Yes very much overrated... I have to wear tennis shoes for work and so I actually just got elastic shoe laces because having to tie them everyday was not going so well any more. If I drop anything before bending over myself I look around to see if anyone else can pick it up for me :)
