July 2012 Moms

well....this sucks

So....those of you who read my vent on FB regarding our property/zoning situation several weeks ago kind of know what is going on already.

But here's the update: basically we cannot get rezoned or a variance or anything so we have to move. Yep, all 75 of us. :( We are beyond stressed out right now and not sure how we are going to manage everything. We basically can't put our house up for sale until we move all the animals off the property. Ugh. My H is so stressed that he is having heart issues again (he's only 26 so way too young).

I haven't been around too much because of all this going on and likely won't be around much for the next few months. Please keep your fingers crossed that things work out for us.

Thanks laides - I heart all of you!

I am so sorry!! Is there anything the landlords can do for your neighbor since they actually OWN the house, they can petition to say that it doesn't bother them?? The guy who complained just rents right?? So ridiculous!!
If I remember correctly, it wasn't the people that lived there complaining; the ahole is the owner and lives in a different state even.
Yep exactly this. He lives in California, we live in Illinois. And I'm not sure I even mentioned it previously but he has not even seen Norman (our pig), he just heard we have one. I did talk to him on the phone a few weeks ago and he was a total ass (and admitted he was an asshole too) but after I explained everything he calmed down and then said "so how big is your pig? you have a 400 pound pig walking around your house?" and I said "no, he's under a 100 pounds", and he was all surprised and said "Oh! So he's the size of a dog then! oh ok". ASS. He never even saw him and just complained and freaked out for nothing. But now since the municipality knows we are screwed.

And yes, we will be trying to get the realtor to give us a "discount" on her commission this time around. Our lawyers said there really isn't anything we can do and that is seems it was an honest mistake on both the realtors parts. (ours and the one selling the house).
  • Oh that's terrible. What a nightmare. Sorry you're going through this!!!

  • Popping in from FB… I'm so sorry!  That's terrible!  Too bad nothing can come out of pursuing the relators.  I mean come on, there were TWO of them that knew you had a pig.  TWO.  Praying you can find a good temporary place for the animals to get the house on the market! And you find an amazing house to suit all 75 of you :)

That really sucks. Have you looked farther west in the Harvard/Hebron area? There is a lot more rural land out there and maybe they have more lenient codes?
Yep, unfortunately there is not much out there right now in our price range and exactly what we need. We did look at a property in Richmond yesterday but it's under contract to be used as farming only throughout the rest of 2014, so we couldn't build anything on it until winter. ugh.
  • Ugh sorry you are going through this! Hang in there!
