I've been hoping someone would start one! I'm recording the Brazil game today. My brother will be in Spain in a week and I am so jealous. I think it would be so fun to watch the games there.
@Nix55 maybe not that crazy, here's hoping (a) World Cup 2026 is in Canada or the US: (b) 13 year old B loves soccer; and (c) 13 year old B wants to travel with his parents.
So who is everyone cheering for? Any matches you are looking forward to?
My family has first generation German and Dutch immigrants so things get contentious around here. I try to stay out of it although I think the spouse won the argument when he got El a Germany kit for the games.
I'm kind of dreading any Portugal games because we live near Little Portugal in our city and when they win a game the horns are blaring all night.
I always support the German national team but I always follow German soccer. I'm a Frankfurt fan. I'm just always so underwhelmed by the US team.
I'm so excited!!! I love this tournament!
We'll be cheering for the USA of course and also the Netherlands since my dad if from there.

so I thought the PK call against Croatia was a terrible call. the Brazilian flopped all on his own. it didn't look like there was any contact (or if it was, it was minimal)
Agreed. But refs seem to do this almost every World Cup, especially for the hosting team.
We taught B how to say "goooaaaalll" while we were watching the games with my brothers today. Granted, did think we would be using that for Costa Rica!
I am just now catching up to this thread. I missed the game this morning. We also taught our LO to put his hands up when we scream gooooollllll!! It is hilarious to watch him stop and just put his hands in the air everytime we all start yelling gooolll!!
That is how I watch a lot of games too @lizzybizzy80 - i watch for the score to change, and then rewind to see the goal. But that is only for games that I really don't care about at all.
And I also can't believe Spain is out. And I can't believe that we KNOW Spain is out so early! It is week 2!!
Yea it was a crappy ending, but if you told me we would be second in our group after the first two games I would have been super excited. So way to go USA!
Re: WORLD CUP!
eta: should we sticky this?
@kdc2007, thanks for sharing the article. I love me some Pope Francis. Although I didn't plan it, I like that my daughter is kinda his lil namesake.

Also, camping is going to be rough this week. Need to check the games and pick my times to head up to the local Applebee's.
