3d/4d - when is a good time to do it?

If you did it or will do it - at what point are you thinking? They have those packages where you can come back twice so i would love to do one now and then at like
28-32 weeks i think they say is best. Would now (16-17 weeks) be too early or can you get some good pics?

I think later would be better. Right now, our babies don't have a lot of fat on their bodies so they (IMO) look a little creepy. If I do one, I will probably wait until after 30 weeks to go.

I would say hold off for as long as you can. While our babies look like babies now they are still very skinny and you will get those chubby cheeks etc. later on in third trimester. My friend had a 3d done around now (19ish weeks) and she wishes she waited longer.

We did a 3D during an elective ultrasound recently at 18 weeks and loved watching our little guy move around ....apparently he likes to hug my placenta like a teddy bear, suck his thumb and prop his arm behind his head (a lot) lol As far as facial detail won't see nuch...might want to wait to third trimester for more detail if you want face shot.....

We had an elective u/s to find out the sex of the baby. Well the office that did it for us switched it to 3d/4d as part of the package. It was amazing seeing our LO but he did look like a skinny little alien. If it weren't part of the sex reveal package and I were paying just for 3d/4d images, I'd wait until later when the baby has more fat.

I did it at 18 weeks and I though it was awesome! My friend did one after 30 weeks and she said it looked exactly like her daughter did as a new born! So I'm going back:) here is a picture of my precious boy last week!

I just did my 1st at 16 weeks! We were able to find out it was a girl without any problem! My baby was being super squirmy and she likes her hands in her face so it was hard to get good pictures! But they recommended coming back between 30-32 weeks to really see what baby will look like!

I had one at almost 14 weeks. Awesome ! They switched in between 3 d and 4d and even though they are still very small it was interesting to see the funny things they do in the womb like hugging your placenta, sucking on their thumb and jumping up and down. I will be going back after my a / s to get more pics.

I have heard that 28-30 weeks is a good time. It's late enough that you'll get good facial expressions but soon enough that the baby probably won't have "dropped" yet. I heard that once that happens all you can see is the butt.

My Dr suggested for me to have it done sometime in September. She said we could do it earlier but that it would be cuter in September. She also said that she would not suggest doing more than 1 or 2 during the whole pregnancy because they create a lot of heat.

I can't wait for September to be here!!!

I did one at 37wks with my 1st. (Thats my little girl below) The "tech" said there was a good chance Bradlee was too far down in my pelvis to see her face. Luckily, she was still visible. They recommended doing it between 30-32wks maybe even pushing to 34wks. I do agree with waiting to make sure baby has some fat. Will do it again this pregnancy as im not a fan of maternity photos.

I had mine done at around 17 weeks. I believe the advantage of doing it early is the baby still has lots of room to move around. The baby's space gets alot tighter in the following months, restricting movement. He stretched, kicked, turned around and did lots of finger sucking. It was amazing! A wonderful experience for my whole family. I opted not to do the 2nd trip at 28 weeks because I want a little suprise left on his birthday.

Thanks for posting this! A friend of ours runs a chain of digital imaging places in the area and he offered to do one for us for free... we were going to do it on my birthday but I'll be 36 weeks by then... so now we will go a little sooner! Glad I read this post!
