I buy most of my clothes used from Goodwill. They also have a maternity section that is mostly not great, but occasionally has some nice things. I got a few things there recently that originally came from Old Navy, Gap and Target for $5 or less. It takes time to go through Goodwill, but it's now become my favorite store next to Target! (TONS of great infant and toddler clothes too!)
I live in the Twin Cities and in addition to about 10 Goodwill stores, we also have a used maternity store call Bellies to Babies. Check out other used stores in your area. You might find some good buys!

JosephsSweetie did you know that anything that dosen't sell at target gets sent to goodwill to be sold. Some of there clothes come there brand new.
As Far as maternity clothes go I found that if you dont like some of the patterns at Old Navy if you shop in there tall department the shirts are made a few inches longer and can be used as a maternity type top. I have a few of there "tall t's and tall tanks" and I will be using those as maternity shirts early on and for post pregnancy
1BabyFritsch, yes I did know that some of Target's clearance ends up at Goodwill. Another great reason to go! Good to know about the tall section at Old Navy. I never thought of that.

TIP for H&M: if they don't have your size in something (i.e. clearance) check back in 12 hours. They seem to have new sizes coming in all the time. Also, I would order a size up. The pants seem to be really, really tight. I have skinny legs and the H&M's are much tighter than my American Eagle pants.
I was very happy with my h&m.com purchase. I was able to get $7 black dress pants and $17 jeans. I also got some nursing bras for $13 and a dress for $11. I found a coupon at retailmenot.com
They are not the best quality, but they were cheap and stylish.
I also found a cute dress at ASOS a while back, but when I looked today, nothing really stood out.
I love H&M maternity. Simple and inexpensive. I do think their sizes run a little on the smaller side and forget about pants if you're a shorty like me! Luckily I hem my own pants so I didn't have to send them out to the cleaners to be fixed. I also like Motherhood maternity for basic shirts and work pants. I have stuff from 2 pregnancies now but I feel like I'm going to get bigger sooner this time around and that I'll need to add summer clothes to my collection.

thoughts on the Bellaband? I'm thinking it may help stretch out time i can wear my normal dress pants. maternity dress pants are not cute.
I loved my bellaband it was well worth the cost and lasted through my first two pregnancies until I had to move to maternity pants. It's even great for after since I wasn't one of the lucky ones to have my belly just pop back into place.
@JosephsSweetie, where in the cities are you? i'm just wondering which goodwills are better. we have one by me that's really not that great, but i know they vary depending on the surrounding neighborhoods. i haven't had the time to go to the one in bloomington at 494 and lyndale but i hear they have good stuff a lot of the time.
i've never heard of bellies to babies either, so i'll have to look them up.

I had no issues finding maternity clothes when I was pg with my son. I loved gap, target and old navy. I got a lot of solid colored shirts and then mixed and matched with various wraps, cardigans, open cardigan type things.
pants were trickier since I am a bit curvy in that area. I
I found a couple dresses as well. and now that leggings are in style I plan to fully take advantage of the dress, leggings, tall boots trend this winter.
meh, I'm not worried, I will buy things as I need them and find them
I forgot to add. Target cartwheel puts maternity clothes on there. Usually 15-20% off. So if you catch the coupon and use your cartwheel you can get discount off even on sale prices.
I dug out my big tub of maternity clothes the other day. To my surprise, I only had one nursing bra in there. WHAT? Did I throw the others out? I can't imagine that I only had one. That is disgusting. I am hoping to survive with what I had last two times around, but they were born in June and September, so it might be tricky some November/December!

I threw my nursing bras out when I was done nursing- they were shot. Bra's only technically last 6 months even when in a good rotation. So, nursing bras are something that I will just buy new. A good bra that fits is worth its money IMO.
Last pregnancy I got the flowy tops from forever 21. Worked well. Hid my belly and I still felt like my self.. also still wore them after while my belly went back to normal. Now I love flowy shirts just because they are comfy. & I was able to wear my jeans throughout entire prenancy. Just used the belly bands if I didn't want to button them...& yoga pants! Lol especially after a c section. I was tender for a long time. .. I'll be doing the same this time around. Cant afford any shopping this time.
@longcat07 I live near Woodbury but teach in Bloomington. The one you're talking about at Lyndale and 494 is one of the better ones. Woodbury is good too, Maplewood, Eagan and Cottage Grove are okay. Hastings is not that nice, but I think it's shopped less so I find some good kids things there. I really only go to the ones on the east side, but I've heard both St Louis Park and Minnetonka also have good ones too.
Bellies to Babies is in Richfield on Penn north of 494.

I second the idea of waiting and buying as needed. FTM here and I have no idea what I'll want/need and at what points. Also we'll be PCSing with the Navy probably in August. I'm originally from Northern Ohio and used to some harsh winters. There is a good chance we'll be in a warmer climate for this winter, but again I have no idea how much different the weather will be. Defiantly team buy as needed!
