Going off of my whatever Wednesday.. I felt super awesome rushing into the spare office to get there before the temp so I could pump and take my lunch in peace. WIN.
should have sprayed bm all over it before you left. jk. sorta.
@ncase2 she has no problem with us putting our fingers in her mouth and hasn't had the chance to figure out biting. I was quick with the camera. The biggest struggle was getting her tongue out of the way, lol. I wasn't even going to try to get a pic but DH wanted it, and I'm glad we tried.
I want to know about Roku. do you pay monthly? what are the requirements for it to work (aside from buying the Roku itself)?
@deedee1017, after you buy the roku you put "channels" on it. We have a ton of free channels, but we also have Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu Plus on there (all paid channels, about $21/month). We absolutely love ours and cancelled our cable earlier this year, saving about $80 a month. We also have HBO, but I use my parents login for that because they have no idea how to use the internet and will never use HBO go.
Eta - You need to have it hooked up to the internet, we use WiFi. Other than that, it was so simple to hook up to the tv. I believe they have one out now that is just a little USB thumb drive.
So, if i were buying it for someone they would need an internet hook up and if that person is using free channels there is no monthly fee (aside from the internet)? What's on the free channels? Are the channels actual tv channels with the same programming?
I just have to add that I love that commercial, lol. I always quote it. "I unfriend you".

Yes, technically they could just watch the free channels. Most of them are kinda crap. Netflix is the best part of Roku. It's only $8 a month, totes worth it. The free channels have a lot of B movies, and then a lot of 'clips' of other shows, though the PBS Kids one is pretty good. OH and there are several 'channels' you can download that let you stream content from your laptop or ipad. So if someone were to, say, download whatever they wanted from the internets, they could stream content from their hard drives. Like, say, all the latest movies. That they downloaded. From...somewhere. Ahem.
@deedee1017, we only use a few of the free channels TBH, but some of them have original content, and some have network TV shows. Nowhere TV is one of our favorites and they have a collection of different shows (including Conan, which is why we love it). But yes, it is 100% free if you don't want to have any subscriptions. I'm pretty sure you can go to Roku's website and browse their channels/content and see if it's worth it. The roku itself is really affordable, I think it starts at $39.
Have you guys watched Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee on Crackle? It is hysterical.

I was thinking of getting it for my father. He currently doesn't have cable and he's not home that often, but I think it'd be nice for him to have the option to watch something.

Sorry, I have one more question. I'm on the Roku site and I'm looking at the different models. It says it has built in wireless, but I assume you still need to have a monthly internet provider, right?
@Amjoy25 lol at your 91 year old. She deft doesn't need doctors, she's done so well on her own! As a side note, I love that generation. It is an honor and privilege to take care of "the greatest generation". I always ask the WWII vets for stories and I love it when a couple has been married twice as long as I've been alive. *tear*
I'm mildly irritated that DH recently announced his sister is coming through town this weekend on her way to take her kid to camp. That would be fine except we already have plans to entertain my father this weekend.
I've never thought about which of his family members is most polar opposite from which of my family members, but we may have found that combo. They have never met and I'm probably about to find out why.
I think this is the most endearingly honest thing I've read from you. I have thought several times that I'd really like you to do an AMA. I'd like to pick your brain.
I hope your weekend goes better than you anticipate.
For the most part I do. I have a serious weakness for pizza, though. I could seriously eat it every day. I also love Alfredo, and mozzarella sticks. I think that's all.
LIES! All of these foods are wrought with the cheese!

Don't get me wrong, I love my elderly patients, but I am a "if it's not broke, don't fix it" type of provider. The doc actually was like ::whaaaaa minion gif:: don't order anything on her!

Yep, he'd need internet with a wireless router so that the Roku can connect to the internet.

Thanks. I'd consider doing an AMA just for you (though others could ask too) if you promise to only pick my brain gently.
::breaks into Aladdin's "I can show you the world..."
I so don't want to be here today. to top it off, the last two conversations that have happened in front of me include someone's scab's being picked off and another person's eye being surgically drained. I don't even work in the medical field!
I got irrationally angry at my baby bc he stayed awake all through his morning nap and fought his afternoon nap. He's down now after a ride in the car, but WTF? If you're tired just go to sleep. Don't lay there and scream at me.

Yes! That was the other one I forgot to mention. The Louis CK one is my favorite.
I love that one. The bit about getting high and going to the Imax movie. The Larry David and Alec Baldwin ones both make me laugh really hard. And Chris Rock.
DD (2yo) bit me in the leg today. Hard. Totally out of the blue but very much intentional. That shit hurts! I yelled (which scared her) and put her in time out. She had to kiss my leg and make it better afterwards LOL
And because this was so funny at the time, Beau lounging at the park today, watching the volleyball players (guys my DH works with). He was also eating grass. #allnaturalbabyfood
I am going to Buffalo Wild Wings for the first time and I am a little too excited to eat the wings. B is coming too....she is not eating any of the wings
None of the bolded is a UO. BW's has amazeball wings.
Now, if you said you only like boneless wings....that's a UO.
I'm pretty stoked about summer break, but at the same time now I just have more time to dwell on the things my kid is/is not doing. Almost 8 months...not consistently crawling, no teeth, not too interested in BLW.

@Amjoy25 This is not the UO thread this is the random thread. Get your head straight woman! :-P And my friend just called to cancel and this is me
But B and I are still going and trying to rope new people in
UGH! #-o #imstoopid AND do go!!! You don't need those people.
Wife of the year here. I just checked the calendar and discovered that Fathers Day is this Sunday. All along, I'd assumed it was next Sunday. I didn't budget for it this week.
DH says it's okay and we don't have to celebrate, but I feel like crap. I had a crappy Mother's Day but I still wanted to make an effort. And I make a huge fuss about how I don't believe in celebrating holidays late, so I really screwed myself over here.
DD has been pulling up on all the things recently and then last night this happened..
#whattheactualfuck aria?! You sit your bottom down and be a baby damn it!! #mommyisnotready!
Isn't it amazing when they do new things. About two weeks ago, LO pulled up on the coffee table as usual and suddenly did the 5 second stand like this. I was just like, "wait, what? Did you just do that?"
My cousin has season passes to Six Flags and today was a promotional day where season pass holders can bring in a person free each. So DS1, LO, and I went to their water park. LO had a blast floating on the lazy river (pretty much a round pool) and is now happily passed out! It was awesome that it was free, but the parking was $20 (seems crazy for parking).
My sad whatever is that I don't think I take enough pictures of LO. Maybe it is a STM thing? I took way more of DS1, and I fee guilty. I think it is worse because my camera broke and my iPhone is a piece of junk. I'm terrible about posting pics here and on Facebook.
Sometimes I worry that DS isn't mobile yet. I know these babies that are walking, standing, crawling are ahead of the curve but it still bothers me a bit. I try not to compare but of course I do. He just doesn't seem very interested. I need to CTFD.
No worries you're not alone! We aren't mobile yet either. Dd won't crawl or pull herself up to standing.

No crawling here, he doesn't even get up on his hands and knees. Also no pulling up. Or teeth.

No crawling here, she hates tummy time. She rolls over immediately! She just got sitting on her own down pat.

And, Joey was in such a good mood this morning when he woke up, I have to post a picture!!

I know in MI, it's talked about ALOT for their safety ratings and pretty good gas mileage. And the sto-n-go is awesome, too!
