I had a dream last night this baby was a boy and I decided that I wanted to get pregnant again and try for another girl. I woke up sweating and at 9:00am I'm calling the urologist to set up an appointment for DH :) snippy snip snip time

  • @TallMomma29 You are too funny! So, is your DH going to be gone for sure on/around your due date?
I have a feeling I'm going to be forced into a c-section because this pregnancy is going way too smoothly.

@emilyfae, it's all up in the air! He was supposed to be gone this week and be here next week, but he came back early, and now is supposed to leave on Monday for 2 weeks (i.e. Week 38 and 39). Ahh! Hopefully LO decides to be a procrastinator and comes late, but I am resigning myself to this thing going down super crazy.

  • The recent water breaking birth announcements now have me convinced that my water will break before going to the hospital (most likely in a very messy way), I will end up taking a cab to the hospital, and assuming I do not get stuck in traffic and give birth in the back of the taxi, I will get to the hospital too late for drugs, and I will break my tailbone pushing the baby out. Because obviously that's the rational take away, right?! ;-).

Maybe you'll get a John Travolta looking taxi driver though (From his look who's talking days not Pulp fiction days) lol

I am hoping for this! At the very least someone with some character worthy of GIFing in the birth story! ;-)

Random question for the STMs: can you comfortably wear fitted yoga pants with the mesh underwear they give you at the hospital? Trying to figure out what kind of comfy pants to pack for going home. I was totally planning on lulu lemon wunder unders and forgot about the whole bleeding situation :-/

Yoga pants are perfect PP, I think. They are comfy and keep everything feeling like it's not all going to fall out (sorry for that visual...) However, I can't bring myself to wear the mesh panties once I'm out of the hospital. I's rather ruin the cheap Hanes I buy for PP and have to change my pad more often if it means I can maintain some dignity. ;)

How are granny panties any more dignified than the mesh panties?  Then again, the granny panties I bought pre-baby so I wouldn't ruin my good stuff conveniently went directly across my incision line and were super uncomfortable as a result, so that may be why I actually preferred the mesh.
    Quote fail ---------------
I don't know, they were just itchy and felt like diapers to me. They also seem to stick to my c-section incision worse than regular underwear. I personally don't feel close to normal PP until I shower at home and wear regular underwear, but to each her own.

Another woman looked at my chest and goes, "Oh, your sisters are ready for that baby, huh!!" I wasn't even sure how to respond to that one.

People are awesome. A couple months ago, a friend from high school (who I get together with 1-2x a year now) was like "wow your boobs are HUGE!!!" uhh yup. I've always been large chested and self conscious of it, so I just looooove hearing that. :-L But DH likes them, so there. [-(

  • @Summerlovin314 DH is obsessed with that song "Wiggle" for some reason. My butt used to be tiny being that I used to be 120 lbs. Now it's actually really nice. I've relished the times when I've been able to shake it and I'm going to be sad to see it go. Keep twerking, girl!!!
Omg, my husband is obsessed with that song.

i just heard that song the other day for the first time, and i thought it was HILARIOUS, given the state i'm in right now...then i remembered my 4 yo was in the car with me and changed it...mommy. fail.
It took me way too long to realize what Flo Rida's "Blow My Whistle" song was about... as in, our 7yo would sing it in her room while playing Barbies before I caught on.

It's a catchy tune, in my defense!

  • I totally agree @chrinikki1‌! You guys should start all the fun PP threads! "Gross shit that happened/is happening," "Breastfeeding tips/questions," etc...

Also, I love the wedding pics @JamieSejkora‌! We should do a GTKY thread to AW wedding pics! I just got married last July so I'm still obsessed with all things wedding :)

I totally want to AW my wedding photos. They were in fucking Iceland for cripessake. But DH is totally neurotic about privacy and doesn't want me to post them on a public forum. Gah. So frustrating.

WWYD? I have received 2 hand me down car seats. They both expire in August. While I appreciate people trying to save us money, I guess they didn't realize the car seats would/do expire. When researching how to get rid of them, it basically says to break them down into pieces so they will recycle and nobody will try to use them.

I was explaining the dilemma to MIL and she suggested to donate them and let the donation center deal with it. I feel pretty bad about this option in case someone would buy it. But it I also is less work for this tired pregnant lady.

Would you break them down, donate them, or another option?

I would cut the straps/break them down for sure.

I don't know what kind of cat seat you have, but they don't seem that difficult to do yourself actually.

  • @Kabee4‌ , could you store them until after your LO comes? Then you'd maybe feel more inclined to break them down, but without adding another task to your list. That'd prolly be my choice, as wiped out as I am lately.

  • @Kabee4‌ honestly, I'd cut the straps and throw them in a big random dumpster (like one at an apartment complex or business something). Cuz I'm lazy.

One is huge. It is the Britax regent. That is the one overwhelming me. The other one it a chicco keyfit.

@symphony4586‌ do they only have that deal once a year? The baby stuff is overtaking our home so we don't have much storage.
  • If you have room to store them wait until Babies R Us has another one of their trade in events then turn them in to get a discount on another bigger piece of baby gear you need. Then you'll get a good deal on something you want and they'll take care of disposing of them for you. Win-win!
    This is a good idea!

I just wouldn't necessarily trust somewhere I donated to to dispose of car seats that are expiring so I would keep them until you either recycle them yourself or trade them in at BRU. If you don't do that, you could also see if there's a Safe Kids in your area that could help you properly get rid of the seats.
  • I had an appointment yesterday and my Dr. told me that she could get a fingertip in my cervix and that it's ripening. I asked her if that meant I may deliver early and she said "I honestly have no idea." She was hilarious though. She called me "Honey" and "Baby" (we're in Georgia) and was telling me about how she's 10 weeks pregnant. DH was in the room and she was doing the 34 week internal and Strep B, so DH got to see someone stick a swab in my butthole. He thought that was pretty funny.

Um, what?  That's not what they did for my strep B.

Well, she did the swab as part of my internal exam, then went a little lower.

Mayo Clinic describes it as this: During a group B strep test, your health care provider will swab your vagina and rectum and send the samples to a lab for testing.

  • Balls. I forgot the group B swab is coming soon. I so much prefer appointments where I don't have to shed my pants.

I dug this puppy out a week or so ago when I got DS' s baby clothes out...good to go!!

  • I'm pretty sure there was no butt swabbing in my group B test...it was super quick too. Maybe she was just really good at it? It was negative though, so woo hoo!

  • I remember the swab with DS being super quick. If they hadn't told me they were swabbing my rectum, as well, I probably wouldn't have even really noticed.

Well I'm not going to say my midwife didn't go near my butt, but it certainly didn't feel like it.  I'd like to think I'd know the difference if someone was swabbing my vagina vs. my rectum.

I barely felt it, but DH acts like a teenager and giggled after Dr. left.
