I use a non-pump (aerosol) can of something that contains between 7-30% deet. I think it is Cutter, but we have used Off and anything else that has it. For her face, I use Burt's Bees insect stuff--just rub it on the sides where she seems to be bitten a lot. We avoid the buggiest places when we can and have a mosquito net when we hike (although she refuses to use it this year). If it is not extremely hot, we wear long pants, socks, and maybe even long sleeves. Ideally, we don't hose down her skin too much but we do if she doesn't have on enough skin-covering clothes. It kills me when she is covered in bites, so we don't mess around.
We use Babyganics deer-free bug spray. Our house is like a breeding ground for mosquitos. Ridiculous. I hate for her to have to be hot just because of mosquitos, since she already sweats profusely in shorts.

I was hoping for something more natural but if it doesn't work as well then I'm not getting it. Thanks for all the recommendations, I'll pick up something this weekend.
