NTTCALR: Paint and carpet colors

Hi sweethearts!  I hope your Tuesday is treating you well so far.  HUGS to all in need or not!

Well, H and I are seriously considering a remod to our home.  We have an L-shaped wall that we'd like to knock down which will open up our front room tremendously and we would use it as our main living room.  Our current living room would be transitioned into our dining room since it is open to our kitchen area.  Eventually we'd like to tile or laminate floor the kitchen/dining, but we can't do everything all at once financially.  So we start in the front room.  My question is, can any of you post pics of your living area paint color and/or carpet colors?  I am really liking the cool, bluish-gray tones or the sea glass/coastal tones.  I love the airy and beachy/nautical feeling of these colors.  We do have oak trim which I'd like to keep so it would have to be colors that are oak-friendly! From what I understand, cool tones are good with oak.  (Warm tones would make the trim look orange-y.)

As far as carpet (depending on paint color choice) we'd like to look at milk chocolate browns, grays or navy colors.  Any pictures or suggestions are welcome!!!  I've been PINNING a crap-ton of color schemes and I keep gravitating to the colors I mentioned above.  For awhile, I was into the taupes, beige, tans...but I'm really loving the spa/coastal/nautical type shades.  Thanks in advance, ladies!  Love to my board!

>:D<  :x

Re: NTTCALR: Paint and carpet colors

  • I love punches of color!... but I change my mind every few years or so... so when we bought our house and did some heavy duty decor/remodeling I did "greige" tones on all the walls and I have been able to easily change accent colors... I have already been through light blue and whites, then yellow, and now I am transitioning to yellow, grey and navys... its really nice because I dont ever have to change the wall color... just pillows, throws, and a few accent peices! I have a frame that has been painted over 6 times :)

  • Yes, I would consider the "greige" too.  I want something neutral enough to be able to change our accents like you have.

Good luck with the Reno! I just spent the last 20 min on sherwin Williams tryin to find the color we have, it's a green -grey and sort of changes with the light. I'll try to find the can tonight. If you want more gray neutral we've used Going Gray, I think it's valspar (I know we got it at lowes) it has just a bit of blue to it.

    PgAL welcome

  • @Km380 Awww thanks for taking the time to look for me!  I know that Lowe's carries Valspar and we've used that brand in the past with success.  I just pinned a gray/blue/green from Benjamin Moore that is called Beach Glass.  Depending on light it can look blue or green.  H and I seem to like it so far.  It sounds similar to the one you're trying to describe.  I think that's the vibe I'm going for! :)

  • LOVE Houzz!

Our colors are more neutral/earthy (although non existent right now since they just finished hanging the drywall on our new construction :) ). Think piney woods.

I the idea of a greyish blue with a chocolate carpet and oak trim though. :) or maybe another brown shade for carpet. The reno sounds awesome!

This is in our bedroom. Our wall color is Icy Waterfall and our carpet is an awesome Stain Master one with a pattern in it. I LOVE it! I love the way it feels and if the cats throw up on it...which happens...it cleans up like it was never there! If I were to get carpet again it would def be this.
It's not this exact pattern but similar and ligher:

I can't find my others, this is all I got for now lady! :)
@maryhr1 Thanks so much for taking the time to take these pics! Love your kitty, by the way!  I do like that wall color and I really like the textured carpet.  I was thinking berber, but I really like the look of this and will keep my eyes open for textured ones. I really like that idea!
