I just recently had my D&C yesterday afternoon...first 90 minutes post procedure I was really uncomfortable (lots of crampy pain relieved by a heat pack and Tylenol). After that, the pain has subsided and hasn't really come back. It's the morning after and I'm feeling pretty good. However, I talked to one of the OB nurses and she suggested I take a full 48 hrs off from work. I had only asked for a day off...for anyone who has had this procedure, how long did it take for you to recover? Let me know because I'm trying to figure out what to do... I'm on a lifting restriction for today and tomorrow so even if I went back tomorrow, I can't even carry my work bag in...eek.
My procedure was done in my drs office without general anesthesia, so I don't know if yours was the same ...
I am very fortunate to be able to work from home occasionally. My boss was very understanding, and I worked from home for the three days after my procedure (after taking the day of my procedure off of course). I would have had to take more days off if I had needed general anesthesia because I have difficulty recovering from that.
I would heed your doctor's advice if possible. They should be able to write you a note or provide paperwork if your job requires it. You will not regret taking it a little easier for a couple of days.

I'm very sorry for your loss; I had my d&c done on a Friday and had the weekend to recover before work on Monday. I only worked a half day on Monday because I found that I tired easily and it was hard to 'keep it together' and wear my 'everything is fine' face. Physically you might be just fine to return to work, but emotionally you might need more time. Good luck and make sure you take care of yourself.
I had mine on a Friday so I had three days off before returning to work. I felt fine though by Saturday. I'd just see how you feel. Everybody is different. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thank you everyone for your advice! I ended up taking today off and will be heading back in tomorrow for just a day, then I have another 3 days off. However I've been feeling good. DH is taking me to dinner and a movie tonight to lift my spirits. Thank you all again!
I had mine on a Friday and went back Monday. I had contractions all day Saturday but was ok on Sunday. I was glad to have the day to rest though.

I had my D&C on a Monday. I took that Monday and the Tuesday off then went back to work on the Wednesday. I felt fine physically a few hours after the procedure but I was told by the doctors to take at least the following day off so I did.
