Is the new Maleficent movie too much for a newly 6 year old?

At Disney we saw a 20 minute trailer on the new Maleficent movie. My daughter just turned 6 she says she wants to see it. It seemed a little intense for her. She is a kid who cried last month at the Glenn Close 101 Dalmatian movie lol. Even an episode of littlest pet shop when the dogs got locked up made her shed some tears. She is begging to see it though and I am excited to see something that isn't Frozen with her. Should I take her? Anyone seen it?

  • I've seen it. It was scary when Malificent lost her wings and put the curse on the baby, and the dragon fight at the end. Someone does fall off a castle and while it shows no blood it's enough to make you cringe. The movie does end on a happy note, but there are some parts in there that might be a bit much for her, considering what you described for things that bother her.

  • I think 6 is young.  My DD is 8 and doesn't even want to go- says the preview is too scary for her.  But I think that should be a case by case thing, some kids are more afraid of stuff like that.  But 6 would still be a bit young for my tastes.

  • My DS is six and I won't take him. DH and I plan to see it, though.

  • I saw it and I definitely would not take my six year old.

  • Thanks ladies, we will be skipping it!
  • Sorry for hijacking, but @Earlybird725 if your 4.5 year old has seen Ironman and Spiderman, I don't think this would be any worse. The wing part is a little 'eh because you see the spot where it was and it looks like two big scabs. Other than that though, there's nothing that was any 'worse' per se, at least that I can think of.

Thanks. Yeah it wasn't my idea to let him see those but DH really wanted to and was fine with dealing with any possible issues from them. He never had a nightmare or was upset or tried to act out the stuff so eh. Maybe we'll try it!
Honestly, I think it's a more mature thing rather than age. DH gasped in horror when I told him the movies I watched when I was 9, but they never ever bothered me. It just depends on the child.
