I was seriously jonesin for some Greek lamb last night. But now I'd love to have some Chinese, especially the long green beans dish and some short ribs...oh and some spring rolls with shrimp fried rice and Szechuan chicken....mmmmmmm
Mmmm, long beans with ground pork is one of my absolute favorite dishes. I always look forward to the long beans showing up at the farmers market so I can make it!
The preserved vegetable is hard to find and definitely optional. I love how this dish makes a tiny amount of meat go a long way. You can use green beans, but I love it with long beans - just cook them until they're really wrinkly and turning black in spots.
@crcklw2 Yes!! I love Puerto Rican food!!! I have friends there that come visit every few years and they always pack tons and spices and what not so they can cook for us. Last time they made the most amazing pork stew thing (wish I could remember the name). I still crave it from time to time.
So, my favorite is a toss up between authentic Mexican and Chinese. DH's buddy from HS owns his families Mexican restaurant and holy moly the food is to die for. Plus the make fresh blackberry margaritas (blackberries grow like weeds here) that are out of this world.
Actually, I lied, I love German food the most. DH and I worked on a ranch in Montana and the wife was from Germany and that woman could cook like no bodies business! I miss Spaetzle, and her homemade bread, and beef goulash, which try as I might, I cannot replicate exactly. And something she called Topf Kochen, I think??? It was shredded potatoes and onions baked in a deep glass dish until the bottom got dark brown, you eat it with smoked salmon and sour cream. To. Die. For.
I am half Italian so I don't really consider this ethnic, just comfort food, but still in my top five.
Lots of them! I like both typical found in America ethnic cuisines and some not so much. I just love food. Favorite is Mexican, hands down. Chinese, Greek, Japanese, Indian, Polish, Czech. So many more...
