Can we try to avoid gross thread titles?

I can't be the only one who is having issues scrolling through the threads lately due to ms. There is a reason I haven't opened the aversions thread - I gag just thinking about it.

Maybe we can try to avoid mentioning the things that make us sick in thread titles? Just a thought.

  • Also, aversions come, go, change on a daily basis. It would be impossible to please everyone.

  • It was just a thought. I don't open them. But talking about nasal drainage and running to vomit in a thread title is what I was talking about. It's the title that was getting to me. I wasn't opening them.

I wasnt trying to be critical; just wondering if I'm the only one having issues scrolling the home page, and if not, if people could try to be considerate.

    I guess I am alone. That's fine.

Wouldn't you rather know what the post will be about before you open it? At least you have warning that it might be about something gross.
I know. How else am I supposed to know what to open? How else are you supposed to talk about post nasal drip without saying so in the title?  If everything had the same title, I wouldn't know what to open. I don't open everything- I don't have time. So I kinda open what interests me or I relate to. Since I'm on medication for post nasal drip, I felt the need to read it.

If actual titles are bothering people, it may be best to step back. If you're that queasy that you can't read something.  NOT being rude, really. But it's impossible to dictate how people word things in titles.  If simple reading a title would make me vomit, I'd probably take a small break (personally speaking) until I felt better.

  • yeah... no.
I get what you're saying, but this is impossible.
Toothpaste makes me gag right now. TOOTHPASTE. I surely can't demand people not talk about toothpaste.  Not that we're all sitting here chatting about Crest, but you get me.
    Plus not everyone has aversions.
I think this is something people will have to suck up.  And don't open the thread if you feel it will bother you.
Omg! Me too. Brushing my teeth makes me gag. It's awful. I dread it. Toothpaste is clean too! But in all seriousness, OP, there is no pleasing everyone. Just wait until third tri when the really gross stuff gets posted. People have been known to post pics of mucus plugs :)

  • I know what you mean, OP. I've had to scroll quickly past the burgers on the grill one, and I've hesitated to post food-related things because I know most people are struggling right now. Thankfully, for most of us (hopefully all of us!) the sickness and aversions will pass before you know it.

    Fingers crossed.

That was gross, but so are most pregnancy symptoms. Not to be mean, but you may want to just avoid the boards all together until the ms subsides.

My aversion in my first pregnancy was a certain color green. There's no telling what will gross people out. I think we need to be clear in the titles. I hate those that you can't tell from the cutsie name what it's about.

Ok people. I'm warning you in advance- please spare us. Please don't do this.
    :-&
That will be very relevant though and even now with those who are having miscarriages.
  • THE MUCUS PLUG COMES OUT?!?

Baha, that isn't the only gross thing that comes out.....
Childbirth isn't as pretty as it is on tv!

  • I never thought it would but to be honest pregnancy thus far has grossed me out. The thought of my belly button popping out, having kankles (sp?) and not to mention the even more nasty symptoms. But I welcome every topic on this site it has helped prepare me .... good with the bad ya know!

  • I'm a surgical technologist; in general, nothing grosses me out. But this morning sickness has been kicking my tail. All bets are off when figuring out what will trigger.
  • I'm not doing too badly with foods, but I am having very strong reactions to gory scenes in TV shows. My husband has to turn them off because I start gagging.

  • HAHAHA! I love this thread.

I'm a nurse. I love talking about all things moist and mucousy. I can make non-pregnant people gag at the dinner table. It's a cool party trick. :)
Half the time I do that without even trying. There's really not that much that grosses me out anymore since I've been a nurse. I forget that all those nasty things aren't just everyday occurrences for everyone else! :)
I must be weird. I work in the ER and inanimate objects like shoes are making me sick these days....
Yeah the only thing that has made me gag at work so far was when I was emptying out a suction container from a kid's NG tube, and most of it was bloody. It wasn't the sight of it, but I caught a whiff when I was emptying it. Yuck.
I love that this showed up in a thread requesting we stop posting gross thread titles
In my entire nursing career, the only thing that has made me gag was the SMELL during a vaginal birth. This is why I could never work L&D. I'm not sure if all births smell that way. I sure as hell hope mine doesn't. It's been 10 years and that smell still haunts me...

Now I need to know if my birth will smell.  #firsttimernerves
I imagine there's some type of odor when blood of any kind is involved, though? Because blood just smells.  Unless you mean something else. In that case, I want to live in my happy dandy clueless world.

I don't remember either of my full terms smelling nor the 3 miscarriages I've had. It's the poop that usually smells bad during l&d. Most do it while pushing if they haven't recently had a bm

The smell wasn't the blood or poop. Both of those are smells I encounter on a daily basis. It was almost like... formaldehyde. (Sorry.)

@Babytime1778‌, you may not get cankles or your belly button popping out (I didn't with DS), but "even more nasty symptoms," yes.
