Just can't seem to cool down

Ugh I feel like a furnace everyday now and I can't sleep. I have fans on, the ac on 75,and I'm even sleeping in the nude. I can't get comfy in the bed lately. Yesterday, I was ready to go skinny dipping in the pool right when I woke up. The only problem with the pool is some days it is even too warm since living in the sunshine state. Any advice ladies on how to cool down a bit? I'm feeling so miserable especially when I can't sleep and have to work at a theme park all day and that includes in a 100+ kitchen. Thanks for listening to my pregnancy rant, the DH can only take so much of my ranting. Lol. I know it's just going to be worth it in the end. Just so hottttt ....

Re: Just can't seem to cool down

  • One thing dh did for me when I was sweltering with dd was fill a hot water bottle with cold water and I slept with it. It was glorious. I think I started putting it between my legs.

  • When I'm hot I take ice packs and bring them to bed with me. It helps me fall asleep very nicely :)

  • I do a cool mask and it does wonders. I also have the air as far as hubby will let me put it

  • sorry, but I sweat the minute I step outside in the 80+ heat and can't take it, but I'm freezing at home when it's 75.  pregnancy sure screws with your inner thermostat!

  • I had a huge icee today from 7-11 to cool me down! Also a resident in the sunshine state and definitely not looking forward to the next few months of summer!!

I get hot at night, waking up to a sweaty back. Uggh. I am turning on the a/c when it is 50 degrees outside so I can definitely relate. Good thing my hubby likes it cold.

  • Thanks for the tips ladies :) and at least I know I'm not alone with this issue. The DH tries to be there but sometimes his cuddling and his fluffiness makes me even hotter. Lol. As for the others who are freezing, I rather be freezing then I can eat soup and wear comfy fluffy sweatpants and hoodies and have hot cocoa and soup all day long. Lol. I love my PINK comfy pants and I can't wear them with this heat. Have a great day all. Time for work and it suppose to be 40000 plus in the park today. So busy busy busy. Is it 5:30 yet?

  • I can't believe you keep your house at 75 to sleep, no wonder your hot! We turn our AC down to 70 at night in the summer, and even lower in the winter. Texas summers, like Florida summers, are no joke - give yourself a break with a little extra AC!

You only keep yours at 70 in Texas??? :) That shit is nailed at 68 in this house. We have a two storey with all bedrooms upstairs, and we have to keep the downstairs a cave (where the thermostat is) to keep the upstairs habitable. And my office is the worst of all since it's half over the garage and half over the kitchen.

That being said, I was LOVING the month of May in Texas this year. Felt like we actually got spring!

Haha it depends on who gets to the AC at night. My husband usually turns it to 70, I think he likes to save money, I turn it to about 68. And even right now it's not as bad as usual here, I don't think it has topped 100 yet!

Hahaha, I spoke too soon. Just looked at the thermostat and DH snuck it up to 70. No wonder I was sweating out the yin yang yesterday while working!

This year has been so nice without massive humidity that I'm dreading the rest of the summer. DD1 was born at the end of October, and the day we brought her home (two days before Halloween) it was 92 degrees! I hope this year it's much cooler.

  • I wish DH would let me keep it at 70. 75 is lowest in the house, and that is if I set it for the night, and this in SC in the summer.

Trying to save a bit on the AC budget since trying to buy the house and save for the baby by the end of the year but I'm sure how this summer is going I'm going to crave in eventually.

@adoringangeldmb‌ turn down the temperature on your AC, girl! On a side note, I'm coming to the happiest place on earth in 30 days (yay!!) and every time I tell someone they're all "oh my god, you're pregnant! You're going to sweat to death and you can't ride any rides." I lived in Miami for 4 years. A little July in Orlando isn't going to kill me. And screw them! I have every intention of riding most of the rides.
Most of the rides are tame so yea you should be fine and of course have fun with being at the most magical place on earth! Are you staying on WDW property? I'm sure you know how to make the best of Disney experience since you are from FL; if not I can give you lots of fun facts and inside tips!

  • Night time is the worse for me! AC and fans on, but then after I wake up and move around, I feel quite chilly lol
  • DIY. Maybe make a couple of these and wrap them in a thin towel

@adoringangeldmb‌ my family has been DVC members since 1996 so we've got most of it down, but I haven't seen most of the new Fantasyland yet. Any tricks for getting into Be Our Guest for lunch?

Eta: we're in a grand villa at Old Key West :)

They actually have fast passes for lunch at be our guest now with the new magic bands. I believe you can reserve on the Disney experience website. That goes for even fast passes for attractions you can do on the site before you come so you'll already have them. Those are very nice villas :) my favorite though is the animal kingdom lodge ones.

Sorry to butt in, but I'm not 100% sure you can book FP+ for Be our Guest. I think there is another separate website to do it.

I'm planning a trip for Sept 2015. I'm probably crazy for bringing a 10 month old, but it'll be fun!

Yes, I did find that site (it's https://beourguestlunch.disney.go.com). I can log in with my name and reservation number, but there are no fast passes available for any of the days during our trip. I'm going to check back every day until our trip. Worst case scenario I'll just get my pregnant butt on the line at 10:30am one day =) Also @katykat03‌, I don't think you're crazy at all! My first three trips to Disney were when my mom was 6 months pregnant, and I was 6 months, and when I was 18 months. It's never too early.
I'm all about Disney. We went this past Sept with my parents and they want me to plan another trip for them, DH and I, and my little cousin. We haven't told them about baby yet, but I know they'll be even more excited to go with a grandchild!

@katehgee‌ I was going to suggest if all the fast passes are gone to go right when they open. My one friend works there and said right when they open they aren't as busy. @katykat03 just a tip that the fast pass plus website is all entirely based on the Disney experience site. Sometimes the website is hard to navigate since this magic plus technology is all still new. I had to take a long seminar about the magic plus experience. Disney is big on keeping us cast members up to date on everything. I'm sure you will have fun even with having your 10 month old. Just please don't be joining the crazy stroller moms who run over my feet and completely ignore me when I ask politely for their safety not to block certain places. lol one of the many crazy moments of being a cast member . I do love Disney so much too especially working with them. Have been for 4 years. ;)
