Pregnant after IF

Calm me down please!

So I had my 12 week checkup, everything is great (yay!) But now they don't want me to come back to the doctor for another four weeks. Ummmmm what? LOL. I know, that's normal. But you all know what IF does to the brain...and after doing IVF, I'm used to being constantly monitored. What the heck am I supposed to do for a month? Ahhhhhhh

I know, I did the same thing when she said I couldn't have an u/s at my 12 week appt. Lol. I said it's hard to go from every 10-12 days seeing them to nothing. So...my heart beat doppler arrived in the mail today. I rented one during my last pregnancy, and it was a life saver when I needed my nerves calmed.

Start working on your registry! If you're anything like me it will take you 3+ months to get it done :) Seriously, anything you can to distract yourself- exercise, baby gear research, nursery planning/decorating. I remember that first 4 week wait and it was tough but it does get easier. Good luck!

I can totally relate!  I had weekly (some times twice a week) ultrasounds from 6-9 weeks due to complications but once I got to the OB, I got an U/S at 10 weeks and won't have another one until 20.  How can they make us IF'ers wait so long!?  I had a doppler/HB check at 14 and will have another one at 18.  I guess I should be happy I'm just a "normal" pregnant person now!

The wait is torture. Distraction is key! Pinterest, Project Nursery, etc.. Also, think of it this way- everything must be okay if they feel confident in waiting that long between appointments! It means that everything is normal. It helped me to focus on tangible things that reminded me that I was pregnant- boobs hurting, nausea, fatigue.. these helped me feel connected while I waited.

I know the feeling. We went from seeing our babies every week from 6-12 and after 12 weeks our next appointment isn't for a month (June 19th). I didn't realize how much I loved seeing them grow every week. My home doppler has helped me keep my sanity for sure, though. Especially when I have awful dreams about one of the babies disappearing and the other being stillborn. UGH!

Silver lining is I can't wait to see how much they've grown over the month!

Thanks, I've thought about the doppler, but I think my fear of using it incorrectly and freaking myself out outweighs the potential mind-easing. I love the idea of planning/decorating/registering...I will do that right away.

@aurora....fortunately/unfortunately I am symptomless! I appreciate it now that I'm at 12 weeks but those first 8 I just wanted something to tell me in between visits I was pregnant!

The wait I think is rough for all of us. I had an ultrasound at 7w, then 12w, then one at 20w, and my only other one will be at 35w. I had barely any nausea and no morning sickness either. I bought a doppler and watched a youtube video on how to use it. Good luck to you!

Totally understandable!  And for whatever reason, my OB is seeing me every FIVE weeks, not even four!  I also bought the at home doppler so that helps some.  Not sure if you have "ultrasound boutiques" where you live, but the city I am in has several of them.  It's basically a place (in addition to your OB) where you can go to have u/s.  The one I went to was very nice & they had a huge projector so DH & I could clearly see everything that was going on.  They even made us a teddy bear that has a recorder inside that plays the baby's heartbeat when we squeeze the bear's tummy.  I love it!  Insurance doesn't cover it, but it's worth the money!
