Sorry to be so AWish this morning but I thought I would post this instead of in the 4 check-ins I am a part of. **pregnancy mentioned not mine**

So DH and I went to see my RE for my pre-IVF meeting. DH had never met him and really liked him which was great. Even though this last cycle was my second IUI it was my first though this new practice. Before we got to talking IVF, he pulled up my records and said that on paper this cycle was "perfect", but obviously what's on paper and IRL are different since this cycle is a BFN. He said based on my response to the femara that he would like to see me do one more round of IUI + femara before moving on to IVF. Part of me was relieved to hear him say that because at some point during the day yesterday I realized that I was rushing into moving to IVF. I asked about injectables+ IUI and he said that it makes more sense financially to move to IVF instead of injectables since it's so expensive. I had a great response to the Femara, it's my super low AMH that is coming into play here. He said to stop the progesterone and call for CD 3 blood work to start the process all over again.

I realized that part of me is rushing into IVF is because of my family situation. Even though my low AMH is a huge obstacle, I was rushing into IVF to make myself feel better about my sister being due in August. This year has been really hard for me with my two losses and basically losing the relationship with my sister. IVF isn't going to immediately fix my relationship with my sister. The bottom line is that I have to do what is right for me and DH and not focus on who is getting pregnant around me. We had a ton of summer plans that were all going to be put on hold for IVF but now it looks like we have a different plan.

I am going to do one or two more rounds of Femara + IUI and move to IVF in the fall once summer is over. My RE spent over an hour talking to us and answered every single question about IVF and the PGS testing we'll be using if we get there. I feel like I am in good hands. Before we left I asked my RE if there was anything else I could be doing on my side and he said "just keep enjoying your life, have a great summer and let me worry about everything else". So that is my plan and I feel at peace with it.

2nd and last IVF cycle August 2015, stimmed for 12 days, 2 egg retrieved, both mature and both fertilized.  Transferred both 8-cell embryos on Day 3, beta 9/5/15 = BFFN
MOVING TO ADOPTION!

    I was thinking about you & your appointment. It sounds like you have a great RE who you feel comfortable with.  I am glad that your RE said that it makes sense to try the femora/IUI at least another round, since your body seems to respond well to it (although I know what you mean…it's like, "ok, weeeellllll, can my body give me a BFP with how "great" it's doing on the meds?). 

    When I was reading your post, it made me feel good that he said to enjoy the summer & to let him handle the rest. It must be nice to hear someone say something like that, since we all know that no matter what our REs say, we tend to try to control the situations and carry the burden ourselves.

    I hope that you woke up feeling good about your plan. Thinking of you!!!

    ((hugs))  I can totally relate to your relationship with your sister. I am going through the same thing. My sister is having a healthy pregnancy and it is putting a strain on our relationship. It is really sad because she is my best friend. I hope that both our sisters can stick by our sides through this terrible journey and come out on the other side much stronger.

    I think this is good news! Your RE is obviously hopeful for you and thinks you have options. This is a good thing. The fact that your DH liked your RE says a lot, too. Sometimes doctors are very critical of other doctors. It sounds like you've got a great RE.

    I'm sorry you and your sister have been having such a rough time. I know I'd be just as hurt and frustrated if I were in your shoes. I feel very mixed emotions about friends who are getting pregnant, and they are just friends, not a twin sister.

    It's so great that you and your new RE are on the same page! I'm sorry your relationship with your sister is so strained, fertility is so incredibly stressful and emotional. Hoping you are successful with your next round of IUI and it leads to a successful H&H 9 months pregnant!

    Glad you talked with your RE and put together a good plan.  And I agree IVF is not something to rush into, so spending the summer to try a few more IUIs is a good plan.  And yes, yes yes to enjoying your summer!

    While I hate that this cycle ended in a BFN, I'm really happy that your appointment went well. It sounds like you are in good hands with your RE and that he has a good plan for you guys. I hope that one of these next two IUI's works and you won't even have to move to IVF in the fall.

    @lav17 and @MyFirstRaspberry I'm sorry you both are going through something similar with your sisters.  Being around family is super hard for me because it's all everyone wants to talk about.  My therapist also thinks my sister has BPD (borderline personality disorder) so she's extra hard to be around.  ((hugs))

    I'm so glad your appt went so well. I think it's pretty amazing that you were able to step back & think about what was motivating you. FX for this next IUI, but if not it sounds like you have a great plan going forward.

       Me: IR-PCOS, elevated DHEAs, low progesterone, weak ovulation  DH: low volume, low T
    SHG 5/10/13: both tubes blocked; HSG 6/28 = Left tube cleared! Right blocked.
    BFP#1 7/20/13 EDD 3/30/14, m/c 8/19/13, D&E 8/21/13, Chromosomal results = normal, female

    That last quote from your RE was great, and he is so right. Summer is a time to relax, be happy and enjoy life. I'm so sorry about your BFN and your relationship with your sister. I know it's just added stress that you don't need. Cheers to great summer (and hopefully a Big-ol-FP)!

    Me: 33, Endocrine issues & FVL       DH: 32, Nothing 
    NTNP 2009-2012         TTC since 2012:
    • Clomid, 2 IUI cycles, and 5 IVF cycles = BFN
    • FET #1   August 2013 = BFP!     EDD 5/11/14
    • Jack dx at 19w1d with Dandy Walker on 12/16/13
    • Severe Pre-e /HELLP set in Jack born sleeping at 20w1d on 12/23/13
    • FET #2 --July 2014  BFP!  ---  EDD  4/5/15

    PG#1 - 3rd cycle BFP. Team Green. HELLP syndrome @ 34 weeks.
    Later diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, possible link to HELLP.

    PG#2 M/C 3/14 - Surprise BFP 2/13. Beta's doubled every 52 hours from 3w5d-5w5d
    Viable pregnancy scan at 5w5d; 2nd u/s showed 2 days of growth in 7 but a HB of 120
    3rd u/s on 3/10/14 had no HB and baby had only grown 7 days over 14
    D&C 3/17/14 - complications - DX Retroflexed uterus, multiple tears to cervix

    @Frenchteachermama‌ I'm so happy you have a plan in place and feel comfortable with your doctor. That makes a huge difference. My sister is also due in July and I would have been due in August if I didn't lose my last pregnancy. It put a huge strain on our relationship too so I completely understand where you're coming from. Hang in there and enjoy your summer to the fullest!
