Shrieking in Sleep

Lo for the last two weeks has been shrieking 4-5x a night in her sleep what is the deal? And she also has been getting up at 4 every morning wide awake ready to party, so I rock her back to sleep and then the minute I put her down she screams. The last two nights i just let her for 10-20 mins and she fell back to sleep. I have not slept a full night in two weeks, Dh is away and I'm losing it. Help!

Nightmares maybe? H has done that a few times but not that many times in one night. Does she seem awake once she starts shrieking? Night terrors are similar but they aren't awake during those and touching/trying to soothe them can make those worse.

I'm sorry, that sounds super frustrating. DS1 had night terrors, but that doesn't sound like what your LO is experiencing. I did find that Dr. Ferber's book How to Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems was helpful for how to deal with the night terrors, maybe it can help you with the screaming issue too?

I was actually thinking that Ferber's book might be helpful after we talked today. Even if you don't use his sleep training method, his book has a ton of information about sleep, sleep issues, and the reasons behind the issues. I think he also talks about early waking. Hope you get some sleep soon, J!
