We do have a fine selection of junk food here in Canada. Something to be so very proud of.

I don't get too excited in US grocery stories, though. (They feel close enough to ours.)

But if you put me in a Japanese one? I am beyond excited. Now they have some cool stuff. (Yes, including fun snacks and junk food. And neat little drinks and juices.) Fortunately, we can get a lot of my favourites here in Vancouver if I am in the mood to splurge. I couldn't get any of it at home on the prairies. Little things like Bulldog Sauce and Kewpie Mayonnaise even get my six year old excited. (As they mean tonkatsu and okonomiyaki.) YUUUUM!!!

@kyliedaniellexx donairs are similar to a gyro but a thousand times better. It's spiced meat, lettuce, onion and tomato with donair sauce (a sweet, garlic sauce) wrapped in a pita type bread. Messiest thing on the planet. Think sauce running down your arm, messy. And, you end up stinking like donair for DAYS after you eat it, but very, very worth it.

Calgary has the Asian super market. I once was the roommate of the people who own it's daughter. Spoiled, wouldn't even clean. Anywho, I can't imagine not finding that stuff there. Even in Lethbridge now, we have more than one Asian grocery store and a few international food stores.

I am from Toronto (Canada) I remember the first time I walked into a US grocery store as a kid I fell in love with the cereal aisle and the cookie aisle... I loved the Keebler Elf cookies...

I can guarantee that it would be. And you'd gain 5 pounds immediately and it would be worth it. I totally want poutine for lunch.

I lived in Japan a long time ago (1997 -- and took a 2 month visit again in 2001). Japanese things were REALLY sparse in SK in the late 90's. I was a sad, sad, girl. Then I moved to Vancouver later in 2001 and it was so much better. There were always little Chinese grocery stores, but they just were no where near the same. I am guessing Lethbridge didn't have much in the 90s either.

Things are changing, though!

I live in the states and I haven't been anywhere that doesn't have mountain dew, and most places have cream soda. I have seen ketchup chips once and there's a store close to where my parents live that sells dill pickle chips. I've always heard that the ketchup in Canada is sweeter than here

Southern Alberta. I'm going to definitely investigate. I'm sure they have them here but now I'm doubting myself.

I'm in Ontario and live close to the border, we go over to the States frequently and always stock up on the different brands of soda and cereal that they don't sell in Canada. Last week we went through the McDonald's drive through in the States and I asked for my typical smartie mcflurry and they had no idea what I was talking about. Then I remembered oh yeah, they don't have smarties here! You American's are missing out!

I'm in the south and we have Mt Dew, dill pickle chips, cream soda and spicy cheetos everywhere. Sorry you're having a hard time finding your goodies.

I live in the states and we no longer have Dunkeroos, but my cousin ordered some from Canada... I don't know if they are everywhere up there, but if so, I am super jealous!

Living on the border in Buffalo is great because I can get alot of the Canadian food at the towns along the Niagara River (I can SEE Canada on my way to work every day).

All Dressed Chips are the greatest chip flavor ever created in my opinion! My DH had to do some business up in Toronto a few weeks ago and came home with a big bag of them for me as well as some Salt & Vinegar popcorn seasoning (I have never seen it in the States!)

Although you can get poutine in the States, it is always much better in Canada. I have to say our neighbors to the North have great pregnancy snacks!

Can you get Funyuns in Canada? I'm from the US, but I live in England now, but I sure do miss velvetta Mac n cheese, and Reese's !! Oh and old bay chips-- but I think that's just a Maryland thing.

Definitely mt dew everywhere here -- I'm central US. Also ketchup & dill pickle chips are easy to find (I don't care for either). The lil white chalky smarties are easily found. And @kyliedaniellexx‌ there are such things as velveeta slices (doesn't taste like the block of velveeta though)! As for the mt dew, there's throwback my dew here, no corn syrup, just plain ol sugar, maybe it's similar to Canadian mt dew?
