For those of you who've had pregnancies and babies before you were 35, and then had/have pregnancies after 35, did you notice that your symptoms were different?
My symptoms were only different in their severity which led me to think this one was a girl before it was confirmed. Other than that, I don't really have time for fatigue when entertaining DS. I'm viewing this as a warm-up for 2U2.
Both pregnancies were after 35. One at 39, this one at 42. Both are completely different. This time I was nauseous the whole first trimester, with my first I had none. Hair is falling out like crazy, skin is breaking out and dull looking...With my son I had thick shiny hair, my skin was glowing and blemish free.
I am convinced the symptoms are so different because I am having a girl. I will know for certain in a few more weeks.
I had my first at 31. And my pregnancy was considered "textbook". I had some nausea in the first tri that I was able to keep under decent control with B6 and acupressure bands. Everything else was great.
This time (age 38), I was able to nip the nausea in the bud as I did acupuncture right away. Unfortunately, I had a bit of bleeding at 9 weeks and 11 weeks... (probably just "bad luck" and not due to age.) And my thyroid meds aren't working so hot.... Again, probably has nothing to do with my age...
But really? Other than those things, I feel good and am not finding a huge difference between 31 and almost 40.
I just delivered our fourth child a week and a half ago at almost 37 years old. I had our third child at 35. I was 31 for our first and 33 for our second child.
My first pregnancy was the most comfortable in terms of sickness and general comfort. I don't know if it was my age or that I didn't have any other kids to take care of so I could rest when I needed to. My second, third, and fourth pregnancies had horrible nausea from 6 - 16 weeks. I finally went on meds for this last pregnancy which relieved a lot of the nausea.
The only real difference in this last pregnancy is that I developed high blood pressure and some protein in my urine at 38 weeks. I typically have low blood pressure and this was the first time in my life that I had high blood pressure. Blood tests indicated that I did not have preeclampsia so I was diagnosed with gestational hypertension. The baby was induced as I was already 38 weeks 5 days. She was born healthy and is doing great.
My symptoms have been quite different but that has nothing to do with my age as each pregnancy is different. I had no morning sickness and very few aversions with my first. I was 33 at the time. i'm 35 now, will be 36 when I deliver. This time around I had ridiculous nausea which started around 6w and has just gone down about 1-2 weeks ago. Also this time all kids of food sounds yucky to me. I think I felt more tired last time around as I remember napping almost every day. But then, I didn't have a toddler to chase after. Now I am forced to be more active. We'll see how it goes in later months. I will probably start sleeping more... Other than that no real differences so far.
I have been on every end of the spectrum. I had my first at the age of 17. He was by far my worst. I had morning sickness the whole duration of my pregnancy, I also got dehydrated so I had to have an IV. My son was born fine no problems at all with labor and delivery.
I had my daughter at 30, she was pretty much text book.
I had my son at 41, the ONLY problems I had was a tiny bit of MS in the beginning and I got GD. I had to be induced 3 weeks early as I developed cholestasis.
I would LOVE to do it all again but at 42 I am unsure if it would be wise. I was nervous with Cavin thinking about all the what ifs.
Yes. First I was 29. I am now 36 with baby#2.
I had way more sickness with this baby and more exhaustion. It has been much harder being pregnant now than it was before. I'm carrying this baby very differently which could be part of the problem. I swore because it was so different it had to be a girl. This baby makes boy #2.
I'm not sure if everything is so different because I am older or if it because pregnancy is really different each time.
lurker no, first babies ages 25, 27, 28 and 30 then Levi age 41 no differences at all, everything was pretty much the exact same.. except labor, over 1.5hrs.. whew that's a nice change though!
My first 3 were relatively uneventful in all aspects of symptoms except for mild nausea----my ages with those pregnancies were 18, 20/21, 28/29. This pregnancy I am 37, will be 38 at delivery.....all symptoms are quite a bit worse, extreme nausea, very sore tender BBs, lots of food aversions. But the absolute worse symptom is the fatigue, seems like it doesn't matter how much I sleep it's never enough....and I'm in my 2nd tri now and still having the bad nausea, no vomitting just really really nauseous and tired......WHEW!!
So far, the pregnancies are identical symptom wise, but it is still really early. I actually hope this one is different because I had pre-eclampsia and ended up on bed rest with my first. I can't imagine doing bed rest with a toddler.
