Nursery rhymes and songs

Can you ladies list some nursery rhymes and songs? I'm getting pretty freaking sick and tired of singing 'Old McDonald' to and from daycare everyday because my mind draws a blank at anything else. The ones I can think of are 'Knick knack paddy whack', 'patty cake', 'ring a round the roses' and of course 'old McDonald'. What are some of yours and LOs favs?

  • Wheels on the bus, here we go round the mulberry bush, farmer in the dell, 5 little monkeys, 5 little ducks
  • I sing the above mentioned as well as you are my sunshine!
  • All of the above and silly meaningless songs I make up. I also listen to pandora which has a lullaby station with old rock music in lullaby form. It's called Rockabye Baby. I love it because I know the tunes, and I think it will be cool for her to know old music too.
  • You are my sunshine is my go to. Lol.
  • Twinkle twinkle always stops DS in his tracks, he loves it. Rock a bye baby is his bedtime song and he loves that too.

  • Thanks ladies!!! I'm going to have to print the list of songs you suggested and keep it in my purse. Will probably have to print the lyrics for a few of the songs too to refresh my memory :).
  • I sing the same ones over and over & make up stuff sometimes. When I'm drawing a blank for new songs & need a change, I listen to Pandora as well. I love "Rockabye Baby!" that @Sapphire0228 mentioned and "Children's Indie Radio" stations.

  • I think Baby Mine from Dumbo is the sweetest lullaby ever.

  • I sing "Playmate" to DD quite often. My grandma sang it to her kids and also to us grandkids. It's a nice memory I have of her:

Playmate, come out and play with me
    And bring your dollies, three
    Climb up my apple tree
    Look down my rain-barrel
    Slide down my cellar door
And we'll be jolly friends forever more

But she couldn't come out and play
    It was a rainy day
With tearful eye she breathed a sigh
And I could hear her say

I'm sorry, playmate, I cannot play with you
My dolly's got the flu, boo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo
Ain't got no rain-barrel, ain't got no cellar door
But we'll be jolly friends forever more

Well, she couldn't come out and play
    It was a rainy day
With tearful eye she breathed a sigh
And I could hear her say

I'm sorry, playmate, I cannot play with you
My dolly's got the flu, boo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo
Ain't got no rain-barrel, ain't got no cellar door
But we'll be jolly friends forever more

@hlcollums I totally googled it to watch that scene, and I cried. Like a baby. Becoming a mom has made me the biggest sap.

  • @coraggios I did the same thing! Such a sad scene :(
  • @corragiosa Don't worry. I cry like a baby every time I watch it too.  It's so heartbreaking and sweet at the time time.  Those poor elephants!

  • OMG!! I have a wind up music box that plays 'Playmate'. My grandma gave it to me when I was 15 or so... She said specifically that she wanted me to have something to remember her by when she passed away. I saved it on a shelf collecting dust and never touch it. The other day it randomly played a few notes when I walked in the room. It was the strangest thing. And now here you are with all the lyrics!

So strange. But thanks. This made my morning. :)
