I have three that I can't take a picture of cuz they are on my back .... But here's four of them!

Invictus maneo is my maiden name family motto from Scotland. The paw print is my dogs and DH has a matching one. I would like one when Henry is born and I have a couple narrowed down

On my foot: a DNA helix with butterflies. The design that I had drawn out would not have healed well...it was a butterfly with a helix for a body and the lines would have been too close together.

On my shoulder: I got this after going through a lot of personal growth and change and wanted something to remind myself of that. Another personal design.

I do have plans for several and have drawn them out. One is a sugar skull in the shape of a cat skull. The other is a Sailor Jerry style sparrow that I want to get once baby girl is born.

On my foot. I want one after my little man is born with a really pretty cross and both names and birthdays. They are both September babies one on the 11th and whenever this little boy gets here.

This is the easiest one to get a picture of. DH has the same spider but "manlier". I have 3 others. I feel that if I am always in the presence of the enemy, then I am protected by it. I really hate spiders. DH thinks they're awesome.
I gotta give it to the Black Widow though, she's a beast.
1st tat was a lizard ~ my obsession at 18.
2nd was ever so trendy Japanese symbol
3rd is a design drawn by my bbf
Spider was 4th and I plan on having a Latin phrase on my ribs once I lose the weight from this baby that means the likes of: live your life to the fullest, death is a certainty. Thought up that one when my mom was diagnosed.

Here are my biggies: the peacock tattoo doesn't have a lot of direct meaning just timing in my life. If wanted it for a long time but my ex didn't like that I already had more tattoos than him. So in one of our break ups (the last one before the real one) I got it done. It has more added to it now but it's at a stopping point until I feel the need.

The other is my Harry Potter half sleeve. It has the most meaning of any of my tattoos just because of how long and involved HP has been in my life. As silly as that may sound to anyone else

My baby boy (my 1st dog) is named Dobby hence his prominent place in the tattoo. It will eventually be a full sleeve with a giant Luna Lovegood on my shoulder. ( if we have another daughter after this one will be named Luna)

My husband wants us to get a Viking symbol of some sort for our daughter that I'm baking right now. Her name is Astrid. And I have plans for a big flower piece with

It says "a fire in the heart but no tear in the eye" in Arabic. I'm part Lebanese so I wanted a connection to that, and I needed a permanent reminder to be brave. I think the photo is showing upside down but I'm on mobile.

Oooohh I love this thread.

First, my ship which is on my ribs. I waited 5 years for this bad boy and I still love it. I plan to add to it the quote "smooth seas never made for a skilled sailor" reminding me that struggle makes you stronger. And I've dealt with a lot of struggles.

Next, my arrow, on my right hip. I spent a lot of my life living for everyone else and doing EXACTLY what they wanted and when they wanted. This reminds me to "follow my arrow" because I am my own person and I don't have to please anyone else or be who anyone else wants me to be.

And my last one is my quote on my collar bone. "We live with the scars we choose" I battled bulimia for years and this is a saying someone told me once while in the hospital. And it stuck with me because it's true. We only hurt by things we let hurt us.

I plan to get her first heartbeats and her name & dob on my other side, I also plan to add my quote to my ship, and I want a crown on my thigh with the quote "though she be but little she is fierce" and probably a few more. But I'm itching for more ink!!!!

This thread is the highlight of my day!

My first tattoo I got my freshman year of college. Proverbs 3:6 "In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path." My HS basketball coach got me a desk ornament thing with the verse on it and I fell in love with it.

The second my sisters and I got together on our shoulders. "Always remember where you come from." It it done in my dads handwriting. When each of us left for college my dad gave us a tear-jerker speech mentioning the quote, so after my youngest sister went to college we got the tattoos.

I am also itching for more and DH and I want to get something to do with our LO but we're not sure what yet!

Love seeing all you inked mommas & hearing your stories behind them

I got my first while in college, "believe" on my foot. It was a reminder to always believe in myself & never give up on my dreams.

After getting married, my husband & I got each other's initials on our ring fingers as well as matching crosses on our hands. I have our wedding date in roman numerals on my ribs.

I also have a half sleeve of a rose, butterfly, and heart locket, as well as an hour glass. It says forever young because I am terrified of death, aging, losing the ones I love - so I decided to turn my fear into something beautiful.

I am already planning something to honor little miss once she gets here

I'm having ink withdrawals!

ETA: I don't know exactly what I'll be getting after LO, but i know if it wasn't risky, I probably would have gotten a bunch while pregnant. I'm an addict.

I only have a small one on my inner ankle, i got it with all my bridesmaid's at my bachlorette party. Was definetly not planned, but fun and something i will never forget. We all got the heart and bow, in different places, some girls put it on inner wrist, behind the ear, i am the only one who got my new initaials. We are all highschool bestfriends. DH and I are highschool sweethearts so i was ready for my new initials!

Agreed. But it's also hard to find a shop around here that will tattoo your neck, even the back of it....

Its completely illegal in some states but I guess not in LA? She got every one of them done at a different shop. A lot of shops won't do the wrist.

Oooo what a fun thread!

1. Flower and butterfly (Not Pictured). I was 17 and my mom took me for some crazy reason. It is on my hip and it's the tiniest thing, most of the time I forget it's there. No special meaning just young and my mom said yes!

2. Crescent Moon and Stars (Not Pictured) this is on my back shoulder blade and I was 18 with cash to burn. It's the only one I regret but it's there so be it!

3. Japanese symbol for daughter. My mom has one for mother. This is on my inner ankle.

4. Star. I went with some of my girlfriends and we all got this matching tattoo... back in the day when we thought we were rock stars!

5. Penguin heart. I love penguins and I got it on vacation for our 7th anniversary so to me it symbolizes me and DH.

As of now no plans for a tattoo for LO but I'm sure it'll happen. I think I'll wait until I'm done with babies though. DH said he might get ink for the first time after we have a baby so we'll see if that happens!

I have two tattoos.

My first is on my left shoulder blade. My little sister drew it (she is a tattoo artist now, but back then was 16). It's a dragon (her) and a phoenix (me).

My tat right after I got it.... and my super 'cool' anti-eyebrow stud that was totally F'd up but I got it fixed the next day.

My second tattoo is a monarch butterfly on my right leg just below the knee. I got for DH,we were dating just over a year then. I actually got it during my sister's 18 birthday party I threw for her, I invited a tattoo artist to my house to tattoo anyone that wanted. It was fun!

Love this thread! I don't have pics but I have 'I found the one whom my soul loves' on my ribs in arabic, since it is a bible verse. Hubby has the same on his arm.

I want more but I don't know what to get to symbolize my kids.

I also have always wanted a ladybug but they always seem cartoonish to me.

I have three so far, definitely planning to get more. My first was the crescent moon on the inside of my hip at age 18, to remind me to be a light in the dark, the moon in the night.

My second was the lotus on my calf. I love to read and write and the lotus was actually the first flower to ever be mentioned in a piece of literature.

The third were my wings, reminding me i have the power to fly away, and the power to also protect.

If you cant tell, my favorite color is blue lol

I have a lot of tattoos so I'll just tell you about a few of my favorites

1) I have a dragon on the top of my right arm representing strength and on the inside of my right forearm a quote that says "Rock bottom became a solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life." I'm in recovery, almost 3 years now, so this quote has a lot of meaning to me.

2) I have a colorful Lotus on my left shoulder with a seahorse-looking baby dragon with butterfly wings. This represents rebirth, unity, each color has a different meaning. I plan to have more added to this tattoo and the one on my right arm.

3) I have my oldest daughters first and middle name in the middle of my upper back with flowers and a vine. On the bottom of my back- I forgot what the type of tattoo is called- in the same word it says love/evil.

4) I have 1Cor. 13, 4-7 and the first sentence of 8 in KJV all the way down my left ribs- very popular, about love.

I have about 6 others. Sorry for no pictures. I'm on the computer and I don't really think I have any saved anywhere other than maybe my FB

I don't have any either but it is cool looking at all of them. Such personal stories too.

I do hope one day to have one and I know exactly what I want. I was morbidly obese for most of my life until 4 years ago when I lost 150 pounds. Since then I have really gotten into running and triathlons. I ran the MCM in 2011 and did a sprint distance triathlon a few months before that which got me hooked.

My ultimate goal -- after this LO is born is to start training for a full ironman triathlon. My Mom and I are going to do it together and her goal is to have it done before August of 2016 when she turns 50. If I get my ars across that finish line I am going to tattoo the Ironman logo on my foot as a constant reminder that with hard work anything is possible.

ETA: In case you're wondering an Ironman is a race where you swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and run 26.2 miles all back to back in the same day. Races start at 7 am and you have until midnight to finish.
