Tomorrow was supposed to be my last day but I've decided to come back next week and see how it goes. I may decide to work up until my due date - it all depends on how I feel. Honestly, I love my job and I'm very invested in the work I do. It's going to be hard to be out of the loop for 4 months so I'm trying to prepare my department as best as I can before baby arrives.
The good news is I've already transitioned all of my projects so now I'm just coming in and working on things that have been on my to-do list for a long time but don't need to be completed before I go out on leave.
I'm hoping to be taking a new job in my hospital so would give my 2 weeks, work a week or maybe 2 in my new role and then be gone for 2 months. I'm currently a float pool nurse, so I'm counting down the 12 hour shifts I have to work over the next two weeks and hoping I can accept the new position tomorrow and resign from my current position then too!
I added a day before I start my leave, and let me tell you, it was the worst decision. I really regret it, and it is only one extra day! I just keep thinking that this extra day is worth the money in the end, but I don't believe myself.
Two others went out unexpectedly in the last two months, one of which still doesn't have a temp. My temp has't started. It is the end of the school year, and there is a TON of data reconciliation that needs to occur. I just don't care. I have about 2 things I want to get done, and other then those, I bump all day and look at cute cloth diapers. My boss said in an email today she wants time on my last day for "follow up questions". What the hell does that mean? Why wait until the last day? I'm coming back, what exactly do we need to follow up with? Grr. 4 work days left.
My work decided on Monday afternoon that I had to switch classrooms next year. I have to have every single item packed by Friday. Two crotchety old women keep bitching about how it is so unfair that I have gotten to pack when they haven't had time. 1. Yes, I started packing before they wanted us to, but the principal knows and is fine with it. 2. I'm 38 weeks pregnant. I have people who can help right now and won't after tomorrow. 3. Eff off. Why do you care what I do in my classroom?
Oh man! This happened to me this week too! Except I am a substitute and I still have to pack up the room. I spent all of today packing books and throwing things out and now I am lying in bed like a beached whale with a backache. Screw those ladies! Get yer help while you can!
Any other ladies still hanging in there with me? My replacement has started and I've passed along almost everything to her. Boss is still passing along projects to me, but at this point it's kind of a "I'll help out as much as I can" kind of deal. Otherwise just cleaning up and answering questions. I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to be able to schlep all the way downtown every day. I was sort of planning on asking to work from home at 39 weeks, but I feel like that's guaranteeing that I don't go into labor until 42 weeks
How's everyone else handling things? Working from home? Business as usual?

I'm still here, I have 3 more weeks until my due date and if by then I haven't had her my last day will be the 27th and I'll be induced the 1st. I've pretty much passed along everything to everyone that was taking over. I'm just here answering questions and trying to help out with anything I can. My boss likes to make me tag along for his meetings, so that's basically what I'm doing, being the gum that's stuck to him most of the time!
I'm still at work. Due next Thursday, but my last day is this Thursday (although I'm supposed to come in for two hours on Friday and then go to lunch because it's my birthday). I'm kind of really hoping I have DD before then though, I'm so ready to have this baby, which of course means she'll be overdue. LOL.
I am still at work and due next Wednesday! My last day of this school year is Friday though. Next week is the "last week of school" but it's all outside activities and I just can't do the heat. Plus the medication for the GD won't let me be outside for extended periods of time, so I couldn't do it anyway.
So there's that…hoping he's here before then though. Like right now would be great….
I'm still here! Planning on working until she's here... Due on the 14th. I'm completely over working, but I want as much PTO with baby girl as possible! I can't stand my replacement and wish my boss would've hired the girl I wanted. It was a stupid reason she used to determine which one to hire between the two and I just want to say I TOLD YOU SO!!! (I was in on the interviews). I cringe at everything I'm going to have to clean up when I come back.
I'm still working, but I'm working from home. Since I'm due tomorrow, tomorrow will be my last day. I can't believe it's here. I just sent my goodbye letter out to all the people I've worked with over the last 4 years since my company is moving and I'm not going with them. I've gotten a ton of replies which ultimately made me sob. Oh man...saying goodbye to co-workers is really hard when you are 9 months pregnant and way over emotional!!!
June 2014 - June Siggy Challenge - Favorite Hottie
4 days of work left, counting today, 2 days this week and two days next week. We just got a new EMR here so we are super busy which sucks because I have no motivation and feel like I am not even really helping.
How did I miss this thread when it originally went up? I'm still at work for 2 1/2 days. I only have one report left to complete prior to my leave and I could finish it by the end of the day. Instead, I'm dragging it out so I have something to work on during the short bursts of time I feel like working. Other than that I'm finishing up thank you cards and "looking" busy. My work has been pretty awesome about not asking me 50 million times how I'm doing etc. but Monday I did get asked, Are you still here? Uh, yeah. I'm not due until the 12th why wouldn't I be? The only question I'm tired of hearing is "are you ready yet". Ummm my life is about to change and it will NEVER be the same again. I'm excited and scared and every other emotion there is but am I READY --- how do you get ready for something like becoming a mother? Do I have everything needed for his arrival - yes.
My new supervisor (we used to be on the same level until our Director left last month) hasn't taken the time to get with me on the ONE report (of about 15) that will be kept up while I'm out. I've given her instructions but don't think I'm gonna take your call and help you over the phone. This is my time to bond with my baby. Figure it out or you should've made time while I was still here to help you.
I'm still here, my due date is 3 weeks from today.I was going to work until the 20th but I decided to leave a week earlier so my last day will be the 13th. My job is not physically demanding, I basically sit on my desk all day but I thought I'll take the extra week to do some nesting and rest a little bit before she comes. My boss didn't hire a replacement so my 2 coworkers have to take over all of my assignments and they are not too happy about it, one of hem has been very vocal about not having any time to take any of the extra work so the last few days have been kind of awkward. My boss told me to let them do everything these two weeks I'm still here, just to come and answer questions.
I am still working too but not for much longer woo hoo!!! I officially have 8 more work days after today and will finish up next Friday the 13th at just over 38 weeks. So excited to enjoy a little time off with DS before baby comes (hopefully) and then a year at home partially paid with both my kids before I have to come back to work, gotta love being Canadian (yup spoiled)
At this point I am totally on cruise control, I have had an awesome replacement in place and training for a few weeks and mostly now just "supervising" and making sure she is comfortable and confident moving forward once I leave.......its lovely. But still tough some mornings to roll out of bed and put on underwear a bra or pants haha.
I also just found out my co-workers are planning a nice buffet lunch at a hotel nearby on my last day to send me off, can't wait!
This beautiful light at the end of this long tunnel is so awesome Cause I am so finished lol
@Taymiller we had a new EMR come in last year (major pain for a few months) & the last of our sister companies in Northern California is having it installed now too
I officially have 5 days left of work if I go until my due date and I am SO done. Like the other ladies I am just so impatient to meet this LO it's hard to concentrate at work.
@thankussweetlordbaby2 - The docs have been on this current EMR for a while but the scheduling system was not linked so we have finally linked the scheduling with the current EMR. It has been a pain but it will be great once everyone is used to it.
I haven't told my company I wasn't returning after maternity leave so I don't loose my STD.. Anyone have this problem?? They have already hired somone for my maternity leave, and if I came back she wouldn't have a position. She does 90% of my work now anyways, since Doctor said I need to take it easy, so I have been just "supervising".. lol
I would be careful with this if I were you, and look into your company's policy on resigning while on leave. My company policy states that if I choose not to return while out on UNPAID leave (so any FMLA I chose to take after STD ran out), that I was liable for any and all insurance premiums they paid on my behalf during the entire leave...meaning I could have potentially owed thousands in medical insurance premiums had I waited to tell them until after STD. The amount I would have gotten for STD would just have covered it. It's part of why I chose to tell them early. I just don't want you to have a nasty surprise on the other end!
KaylanRichard, do you have a HR hotline you can call? I called our corporate HR line (and they have to keep it anonymous from local HR and my boss) and they advised me to resign my last day of STD. They did not advise me to resign sooner (I don't know why- possibly my boss could have decided to let me go me before I got my full leave I guess). So I got to use my vacation days and my paid STD (I think it was 6 weeks at 60%), then I resigned before unpaid FMLA kicked in. It worked out just fine, but I was relieved to go over the plan with someone who would know both sides.
I'm still here. My work is kinda physically demanding (i.e. Lifting 30+lbs and on my feet for a minimum of 8hrs) so I am hoping to make it to my due date and take as much time with my LO as possible. So unless she decides to make an early appearance or my dr tells me I can no long do my job I will be here tell the 28th of June. Oh man that seems so far away.
Another working mama here! My due date is the 18th and I will be working in the office up until the hour LO arrives. I have a desk job so I've been fine coming in, although working from home would be nice! I long ago lost my motivation, and it seems like it could be ages before LO finally gets here! I don't have a replacement coming in, but a lot of my work can be put on hold (I'm an auditor), and I will be logging in frequently while I'm out to answer questions/check emails.
Still working too. I'm taking it each day until LO decides to arrive, or my doctors schedule an induction, which would most likely be some time next week. Like PP I have lost almost all motivation! I have a NST today and could probably go back to work afterwards but I'm most likely just going to go home. Model employee right here.
It's officially my last week in the office (and it's a 4-day week for me, because I had previously scheduled Monday off - woohoo!) A week or so ago, I found out that my HR office had neglected to tell me about a significant part of my benefits, and the only reason I found out about it was because one of my coworkers used to work in the HR dept and asked me when I was going on leave. Apparently in NJ you can get STD for up to 4 weeks before your EDD, but no one had said a peep about that to me, it was not in any of the company policy paperwork I was sent, and my HR associate basically made it sound like I had to work until my due date. When I told my boss about this, she had no clue either and was kind of pissed that HR never mentioned it! Anyways, I was able to resubmit my paperwork and mat leave will begin on June 9!
Still at work as well -- due June 23. I plan to work up until LO arrives but like @Eltrain5 the schlepping into the city and walking to my office from the train is really starting to wear thin. My boss looks at me every day and asks how I feel and tells me if I need to leave early its fine and I'm sure he will be ok with me working from home the last week or so if necessary - he does NOT want me going into labor at work (the perks of being the only chick to ever be pregnant at my job has its advantages) I will see how I feel as the days tick down and play it by ear!
The one thing I will miss about work are the free lunches! I love days I work because I don't have to make or go get lunch because we have drug reps in everyday. I will miss that but won't miss anything else.

We have a very similar policy in CA... and totally not mentioned in any of my work documentation. Found out through a colleague as well. Funny how work forgets to mention that....
I'm still here, too! My last day is the 20th (a couple days before my EDD) unless baby decides to arrive sooner. I'm over my commute but in full nesting mode at the office. Corporate still hasn't sent a temp for me to train so I've been focused on creating instruction manuals. I want to make sure someone can just walk right in and do my job. They'll never be as awesome as I am though
@babygabe614 Same benefits here in CA but I'm still planning to work until my due date. None of my HR paperwork mentioned the 4 weeks prior to EDD either. Tempted to bump up my last day like you did. I suppose one extra week of crappy disability pay won't kill me financially. Enjoy your last week!
Yep - still working, though I work from home. My due date isn't until the 15th and I'm planning on working until then, but am hoping to go into labor ANY TIME NOW
Re: Work Bitches
I am definitely coming back after leave but excited for baby and to get a little break from the hospital
