I subscribe to a local news station's updates on FB. I wish comments were closed. This morning a woman was arrested for DUI with seven unbuckled kids in the car. So far: - she should be spayed - she should keep her legs closed - our tax dollars paid for that alcohol through food stamps (?) - arguing that yes, you can by alcohol with food stamps supported by various racist anecdotal evidence
:-q
People suck.
They really do. I liked humanity better before social media. Ignorance really is bliss.
I can't read the comments on any news story. Even if it's a happy, feel-good story someone has to make asinine comments, like insulting a kid or something. When my grandpa passed away people made comments on the news articles like, "I didn't like that guy, good riddance", etc. Some people just have zero class.

@lizabethann06 what are your work hours? Like not specifically, but I feel like I like your schedule because you get to do things with your kids during the day but still work full-time, right?
DD is currently rolling all over the floor rocking on her hands and knees trying to figure out how to sit up on her own. It is pretty cute to watch. She is trying so hard yet failing miserably.
ETA: She sat up twice on her own. I cried I was so happy
So, Silas is mistaken for a girl regularly these days, and 9 times out of 10 the "reason" they give me for assuming girl is because of his pretty blue eyes. I don't even know how to respond to that?? :-??

@Cfreymc people have told me the same thing about Haddy. I mean... huh? He doesn't even look like a girl, like at all and I also always have him dressed in boyish clothes. I don't get it but whatever. I usually don't even correct them because I assume they're just making conversation anyway.
LO always nurses at bedtime and it's my favorite time of day because he's quiet and snuggly. But the past 4 nights he's barely been interested and squirms until I put him down. Hopefully it's just a phase. I don't want to lose snuggles with my baby! =((
Also, DH is going to be pissed, but I am paying someone $100 to mow our yard and clean up all the weeds. It's so out of control that when my dog (a black lab) goes in the back yard I can't see her! H is out of town until Saturday night and he'll just bitch about having to do it and/or the fact that I didn't do it. We have 1.5 acres and I don't have the time or the desire to do it myself. $100 is worth several hours of my time, sorry DH.

you're not training your dog correctly
I wish! She likes to think she does her part by going out there and eating large quantities of tall grass. And then throwing it up in the middle of the night on the bedroom floor. Yuck!
@JStahl678 I don't think that is to bad of price. My gardener is $100 a month. He does come twice a month but my yard small.
Considering our yard is a jungle, I thought that was a good price too. DH is so stubborn when it comes to the yard though. We have a huge yard but he will only use a push mower because a riding lawn mower is "too easy". Men can be ridiculous sometimes.

@bobcee I hope you feel better ASAP! And that has to be very frustrating about Zs biting and mimicking, but it sounds really cute.
Ben has continued his screaming at DC drop off. So, my goal today is to make drop off as quick as absolutely possible. I usually like to talk to the worker and any parent who is there for a few minutes, so I get to know them and so I can watch my kid play. I'm already sad that I'm going to miss out on that time with my kid and the DC community. Hopefully it makes drop off easier on him, though.
@MRads - that's part of the problem. It's so adorable and funny that I can't help but smile or laugh when he does it which just promotes the behavior.
Morning, lovelies. I got conspiracied again last night. Dh was up choking on acid until 3:30 because he overindulged in pizza rolls while I was gone. Leah decided 5:12am was an appropriate time to eat and snuggle. She slept in my arms until I had to wake her at 6:45. ~O) she was so happy to wake up in my arms.
I just ran almost 3 miles with LO and the jogging stroller. That's the longest outside run I've been on since high school!
I'd like to add that I didn't run the whole 5k I did a couple weeks ago. It would've been practically impossible anyway... so.many.people. I'd rather donate to The Color Run and not actually run because it was pretty awful.
Have any of you all ever done a color run?
@asbromle - I haven't participated in the actual run part but one year I got to throw the powder stuff on people. It was fun... Even when the guy with a stroller called us sons of bitches because he didn't want color on him I guess?? Didn't even get the stroller... hmm..
I am very jealous of @lizabethann06's awesome summer hours! I have such a hard time being motivated and focused during the summer. I work on a college campus and it's like a ghost town around here during the summer. I'm not in an academic area and our office is opened year round but the work does slow down quite a bit. That doesn't help with my motivation. Also, it doesn't help that by chance I've had several summers off in the past few years.
Summer 2010- unemployed
Summer 2011- maternity leave
Summer 2012- actually had to work- BOO!
Summer 2013- maternity leave
Summer 2014 through the rest of my life- actually have to work.
Waaaaa!

Last summer we did nothing with our yard except mow the weeds down. I swore that it was because I was pregnant and then had a newborn but this year its the same. Weeds everywhere! We learned that they can grow taller than our house if we let them and I would like to avoid that this year. I think I want to get some sort of weed whacker thing. I'm, never going to pull them but if I can keep them trimmed down to a manageable level I'll be ok with it. But then @JStahl678 is making me think I can pay someone... I hadn't considered that yet.
@Audrey1787 - taller than your house!? We need pictures of that
Have you considered a lawn service with weed control? Soo worth the money
I often need bananas in the MOTN, too. I am wondering, though, how did this habit start? I can't imagine giving Nate bananas at 3am, but maybe this is the secret to getting him to sleep that I am missing?
@lwrightenator Saturday before bed L didn't want dinner and then puked - was up crying for an hour at 3a until we realized maybe he's hungry instead of his belly hurting. Ate half a pouch. Sunday, we didn't offer dinner solids because of puking and then when he was angry at 3a we figured he was probably hungry from missing dinner, and he ate a whole pouch and went to sleep. Last night we just offered a pouch bc that had been working, and he calmed down right away and ate the whole thing.
It's bananas because he's refusing pretty much all other purées these days. Picky baby is picky. At least he likes the high-cal ones!

We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
@mermomo5 I am the kinky one in this relationship! I was thinking of blind folding him...he will usually play along with me. But if he knew of my bump review he would yank the wifi... FYI in case any of you meet my DH mums the word!
On page 2 but @valstulas I had a person call today and say she wants to get her cat neutered. I ask the cats name and she says "Molly...we thought he was a girl." lol

@lwrightenator We have given little bits of puree at night before though - for awhile, L would wake up upset and would instantly calm down after Tylenol, much too quickly for the Tylenol to have actually kicked in. So we figured it was just getting a taste of something that was calming him and started giving him 5cc of fruit puree from a syringe and it worked the same way. Mentioned it at our next GI appt and came home with a scrip for infant Mylanta
