I wish I could remember to do this thread every week! Maybe others can start it??
Anyways, how are you all doing??
Things are good on my end. I'm really trying to eat healthy, but it is just so hard!! Especially, because I am hungry all the time! At least, I have more energy and can walk the dog most days.
How's your eating going? How are you staying active? What are your concerns in general?
One other random question... Do you know where one can get plus size maternity shape wear? It looks like Spanx maternity sizes aren't plus...
Re: Plus-size Moms Check-in
I'm so ready to feel better, but it isn't looking positive. I'm 14w today. So hopefully things simmer down.
I did lose a pound at my last appointment.
I am at the 12 week mark and am not showing but my uterus is definitely hard. I have actually lost weight after gaining 6 lbs in the first 6 weeks. I'm down to where I was when I got pregnant and I am hoping to hang out here for at least another 6 weeks.
I am not exercising--I have no energy! I know the cyclical nature of it-- if I excercise I would have more energy, blah blah.

I'm trying to walk and do yoga but my exhaustion is not improving when I get home.
No idea about the shape wear I can't stand the things I'm not comfortable being all squeezed into something.
I did find a shape wear and here are my thoughts: I'm a size 22/24, 5'7. I tried belevation (Amazon) in XL and found they were very loose and offered no support at this point. They may come in handy later so I kept them. I also got 2 Baby Be Mine (Amazon) belly bands in size 4 and they fit perfectly right now. I think they have am enough room to grow in a bit as well in the "bump" region.
It all just sucks, I got away with not really being vigilant at all in my last pregnancy, sleeping all the time and eating a lot of carbs (my only real craving was sugary cereal, yummm) and still hardly gaining a pound until the last few weeks of my third tri. This time around I am not going to be getting away with that at all! Have to admit, I'm a little bummed out about it.
But instead of moping, I'll just be grateful that I haven't been debilitated by nausea like so many of us have, and take the damn dog for a walk.

As for shapewear, I bought the motherhood line last pregnancy. It was meh. Not support really but kept my thunder thighs from giving me Swamp crotch or creating fire. This time I got the Assets version of spanx on amazon. Reason being reviews for the spanx line said the belly area was thin and ripped (it replaces the tummy shaper with nylon). I wear a lot of dresses and can not be comfortable unless I'm wearing something to keep my thighs from rubbing.
Otherwise I gained another lb when I was weighed at my NT scan. Sigh. Whatever. I'm also officially showing now so that's fun and has relieved some of the mental stress of just feeling fatter.

I have been trying to eat healthy foods but I also can't help but crave the junk/fast food. The big issue is that I'm hungry ALL the time. I don't want to gain too much cause I've only gained 5lbs but man does it feel like so much more. I can definitely tell a large difference when I move around and it's uncomfortable.
So far walking is my favorite workout. I go for walks or walk to places I'd normally take the bus/train to. It also helps that my hospital is a nice walk from my apartment.
I like the stuff at motherhood last time. Need to pick up some more things, but I'm at the "nothing helps me look good" phase mentally even though I'm definitely showing (tiny ab muscles who disappeared with DS I miss you!)
Luckily morning sickness has been to a minimum. I'll be 12 weeks tomorrow and at my appt 2 weeks ago I was down 5lbs. I have been doing much better this pregnancy with what I eat. With dd all I craved was salt and Dr.pepper. this one so far only craving pears and cottage cheese. Hoping to keep weight gain to a minimum. Still in that awkward stage where I look more fat then pregnant
@nesenotes, I am the same way. I wear dresses most of the time, but I've never worn shape wear. I get the dansko leggings from Walmart (with the quick dry) and wear them with EVERYTHING. I love those damn pants. I even wear a pair as a bathing suit bottom (keeps my cellulite covered
Another option is buying a split slip, sometimes called culotte slips. Basically silky bloomers, lol. I hate my thighs rubbing, love my dresses, and both leggings and the split slip keep my assets covered if my kids lift my skirt, haha, Noooo, that would NEVER happen :P
I'm not hungry, I'm HUUUNNNNNGGGRRRRRYYYY! NOW!

I go to bed about 2 hours earlier because I'm so exhausted all the time.
I'm trying to not let life stresses bring me down lately but everyday there's a new problem. Sometimes being an adult blows.
My clothes have been a little snug but not too bad yet.
They're also pretty concerned about my iron levels, but it's nice to know that my zero energy level probably isn't all in my head and that if we get that going the gym might sound like a good idea again. It's been a couple weeks.
I'm feeling kind of guilty about not being excited enough or something this week? Like we heard the heartbeat for the first time, and to be honest I only kind of heard it and had expected that I would cry or something, but nope. Granted there's a lot going on, we're buying a house, work is nuts, but I hope that come July things will get a little more fun again.
I did tell my boss this morning and that went MUCH better than I expected, so quite a relief there.
I'm on the misses/plus border as well. I've totally lucked out not to have any m/a or strong food aversions or cravings, so I've been able to eat relatively healthy.
I had horrible fatigue during the first tri, but that seems to have passed. I started going back to the gym a few weeks ago, but the workouts I do with the trainer are really light (especially compared to prepregnancy...) so I don't know that I am doing enough.
What does a typical gym workout look like for those of you who go that route for exercise?
