Spaaaaaam. Good morning everyone. Feli's 10 months old today! 61 more days!
A shout out to Casey for her sun shade recommendation - got jealous comments from two moms on Sunday.
Am happy that the ergo back carry is acceptable to my child. Am not so happy that this method exposes and constricts my squishy midsection in a most unflattering way.
I just suddenly came down with mastitis. Clogged duct, very sore, fever, chills, body aches. Luckily the doc called in a rx to a 24 hr pharmacy without making me go in anywhere so at least that's good.
Unfortunately Zack is into mimicking right now and picked tonight to start biting me. When I tell him no and shake my finger at him, he smiles, shakes his finger at me, puts on a serious face and grunts. Then he laughs as if he's mocking me.
Mackenzie is curled into my side, snoring, with her head on my chest. I have an itch on my arm, but I refuse to scratch it because her laying on me like this is the sweetest thing ever. Can't she stay this little forever?? :x

Zoe rarely cuddles anymore. She always is moving and having to look at everything. I miss the newborn stage where she cuddled into my neck.

Up because apparently now Luke NEEDS bananas every morning at 3am. 3 nights in a row. The first 2 nights he hadn't had dinner solids so it made sense, but he ate dinner tonight. This seems like a bad habit to form....
At least I get some nighttime cuddles out of it!

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts! DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome. 131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
@bobcee I hope you feel better ASAP! And that has to be very frustrating about Zs biting and mimicking, but it sounds really cute.
Ben has continued his screaming at DC drop off. So, my goal today is to make drop off as quick as absolutely possible. I usually like to talk to the worker and any parent who is there for a few minutes, so I get to know them and so I can watch my kid play. I'm already sad that I'm going to miss out on that time with my kid and the DC community. Hopefully it makes drop off easier on him, though.
Rosabelle, Owen's new kitten, had her first vet appointment yesterday. Apparently she was even younger than we thought when the neighbor gave her to us, since we've had her for 6 weeks and she only seems to be about 9 weeks now. Also she has some really big news.
I went to CT this weekend (and Boston), so I haven't been able to bump, and I missed you guys!!! I'm trying to catch up. Anybody have a quick recap for me?
I think it's get that they are accepting him for who he is, but I don't think it's right that they are telling the whole world. What about when he's in high school and some kid find it and starts making fun of him.
DH is leaving for a business trip today. DS1 is excited because that means he gets to watch a movie at bedtime while I put DD to bed because "mommy can't handle all of us by herself". Yup, the kid has it right.

? Are you under the impression that this video would be the reason that kids would find out he's trans? Because I'm pretty sure locker room, bathroom, medical and other reasons are all going to be how other kids find out before this video. Also if you teach children that this is normal they won't grow up thinking any differently. They'll still find any reason they can to bully or tease but this video has nothing to do with it.
ETA - and if you're not saying the video, and you mean the act of the parents telling people in general, I stand on the point as well. Kids will find out. The parents are doing the proactive thing in trying to educate his future friends and peers before there's a locker room oops. With the added benefit of not shaming their kid like its something he has to hide or not talk about. These parents are heroes.
I still think they should have waited until he could make the decision himself to tell the whole world. He's still pretty young to realize that people think it's a "sin" what he's doing.Hopefully more parents will teach their kids to be accepting of others but some won't.

I think it comes down to the fact he shouldn't be ashamed and people should never give him a hard time. Acceptance comes with truth and he nor should his parents have to hide it. Why? He was born a girl but he isn't and that's okay. I think they are amazing and I hope of ever faced with this I would have the grace to do the same.
You're right, he shouldn't have to hide who he is. That would probably bring about more issues then other people's opinions in the future.
I just ran almost 3 miles with LO and the jogging stroller. That's the longest outside run I've been on since high school!
I'd like to add that I didn't run the whole 5k I did a couple weeks ago. It would've been practically impossible anyway... so.many.people. I'd rather donate to The Color Run and not actually run because it was pretty awful.

Have any of you all ever done a color run?
Yes, @Asbromle I did one a few years ago. I have zero interest in doing one again. Too many people on too narrow of a course with powdered color being thrown everywhere. Bleh.
Total P&R because this new job actually requires all of my time. I'll be back later to catch up on the all the things!
The DC fever policy screwed us today and the asst director isn't willing to budge (honestly because I think she's offended I asked for the director). Izzy had a fever yesterday for 3 hours that didn't require medication, no other symptoms than teething, and is already on abx for a mild ear infection. It was also hot and humid yesterday. So who knows. But because of my new job, poor hubby gets to stay home from work with her again. As if he hasn't already made enough of his own work sacrifices just for my new gig. Gah!
@LauraC122, I'm sorry! I'm home for the second day in a row due to vomiting. I decided not to ask about a diarrhea policy, because I think E is on the mend and I don't want to be home again tomorrow.
100F seems low for a fever policy. Our daycare is 102F.
Whoa 102 is high! 100 is standard around here.
I was just going to say the same thing! 102 sounds really high! That's like a really sick kiddo! Ours is 100.5. I feel like that is fair. Our DC is also a little bit flexible on the policy. Like if the child has a diagnosed ear infection and is on abx they let them come back. Or if it is clearly from teething. Thank goodness, because otherwise Lillie would never be at daycare, with the three ear infections she's had this spring!

I called into a radio station this morning and won a contest . I feel like a nerd but I'm excited about it. The prize is a $50 gift card to a spa at a super fancy hotel here in town. It's a pretty good prize, considering some of the things they give away are kind of lame sometimes. But since the place is so expensive, $50 isn't going to get me very far so I'll have to decide what service I want to do. The cheapest pedicure they do is $55 and the cheapest massage is $95. I'm not complaining though. Looks like I'm gonna get some mama pampering time in the near future!

I have a headache. It was trying to wean Liam from his 3am feeding because it isn't really feeding. He uses me as pacifier until my nipple hurt, just a little. So, I tried holding him in bed, he sat up and threw himself back. The back of his head came smashing down into my nose. Then he made scrunched faces at me for awhile but after he crying when nothing comforting him, I gave in.
I made brussels sprouts with bread crumbs last night and they turned out great! Excited to have left overs for lunch!
@lizabethann06 I have been thinking of the pic of the chocolate cake that you posted awhile back for a month now. Can not get it out of my head!! Someone brought a store birthday cake into work the other day and I looked at it as I was offended. I want the amazing chocolate cake!
Ahh Silas is just so fun these days! It's like everything I've been trying to teach him the last few months has clicked all at once. He covers his own face now for peek-a-boo, claps, waves, imitates everything, (even the dog barking, which is hilarious) and finally let me read him a whole book. I get so happy when he does a new thing, but then so sad because it means he's not a baby. Motherhood is rough.

I subscribe to a local news station's updates on FB. I wish comments were closed. This morning a woman was arrested for DUI with seven unbuckled kids in the car. So far: - she should be spayed - she should keep her legs closed - our tax dollars paid for that alcohol through food stamps (?) - arguing that yes, you can by alcohol with food stamps supported by various racist anecdotal evidence
